Man found dead after northside fire

A man is dead following a single-family house fire in north Lethbridge Monday.

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to the blaze at a home on the 800 block of 27 St. N. Monday afternoon.

Crews from three stations responded and found extensive smoke coming from the home. They make a quick entry and extinguished a small blaze on the main floor.

During fire suppression efforts, a male occupant was found dead.

The fire is still under a joint investigation by LFES and the Lethbridge Police Service but the death is believed to be non-criminal in nature. Damage to the home is estimated to be about $200,000.
