Jobs Canada Fair offered Lethbridge and area residents an opportunity to network with potential employers during their Lethbridge Career Fair Tuesday.

Marketing manager with Jobs Canada Fair, Aamir Parack, said 96 people had taken advantage of the fair within the first 40 minutes of their first Lethbridge Career Fair of the year.

“In Lethbridge particularly we do it two to three times a year,” said Parack.

He said they invite some of the exhibitors in the not-for-profit organizations and some recruiting companies which helps and supports the Canadian job market every year.

“For a few of those we reach out to them, and most of the exhibitors reach out to us,” said Parack.

He said they had 16 exhibitors this year.

They also had some organizations from other areas of the province such as Medicine Hat Police Service and the Calgary Fire Department.

Parack said it is important for them to offer out-of-town options everywhere they go, to allow people the option of migrating to different parts of the province.

“We’re hosting another job fair in Fort McMurray and a few of the clients would be there as well, so anyone looking for migrating from one city to the other, can find openings across Alberta,” said Parack.

He said their next Lethbridge Career Fair is on Aug. 17 and their last one for 2023 will be Sept. 21.

“It all depends on the number of exhibitors that we get registered; with the higher number we might think of changing our location,” said Parack.

Tuesday’s event took place at the Heritage Hall in Exhibition Park and Parack said he is hoping to offer the next event at the same location unless he needs a bigger venue.
