A motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian that claimed the life of a 31-year-old woman resident of Stand Off early Saturday morning is under investigation.

On Saturday at 5:25 a.m. Coaldale RCMP responded to a serious motor vehicle collision with a pedestrian on Highway 3 westbound, between Lethbridge and Coalhurst in an area located between Range Road 224 and Township 92.

RCMP say that upon arrival of police the 31-year-old female was deceased. RCMP remained on scene for several hours conducting an investigation into the collision with the assistance of Lethbridge Police Services, and even though the investigation is in its initial stages, driver impairment does not appear to be a factor.

RCMP said Monday the investigation is still ongoing as they await a traffic analyst report.

RCMP expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
