MLA for Lethbridge East and Minister of Affordability and Utilities Nathan Neudorf will address the Southern Alberta Council on Public Affairs Thursday.
The weekly session starts at noon in the dining room of the Lethbridge Seniors Citizens Organization.
Neudorf’s topic will be “rethinking Alberta’s electricity?”
During his talk, Neudorf will go into details of the provincial utility market and provide insights into its current state. He’ll also be discussing key factors that impact affordability of electricity.
“Gain a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Alberta’s electricity sector, and discover how government initiatives are working towards ensuring a reliable and affordable electricity grid for all Albertans. Don’t miss the opportunity to stay informed and engaged on critical issues shaping our province’s electricity landscape, says SACPA in a media release.
Neudorf was first elected to serve the Lethbridge East constituency on April 16, 2019 and was re-elected last May.
Neudorf has a civil and structural engineering diploma, is a red seal carpenter and gold seal project manager who worked in commercial construction before entering politics.

A brave soul going into an NDP dominated organization to speak 😊

ReallyReally

Indeed. It will be a confusing event for Neudorf given that the UCP hold more than a few “town hall meetings” where the general public were not allowed to actually ask questions, and “online consultations” that were notably organized to pretty much only allow callers whose viewpoints favourably aligned with the UCP agenda to be heard — Meanwhile polls showed that upwards of 70% of Albertans were upset with the UCP related agenda. Yes indeed, this public SACPA forum, long open to Lethbridge citizens (no pre-registration required like some of the UCP “consultations”) of any political ilk to attend and participate in the question periods will be a challenge for Mr. Neudorf to cope with. Who knows, maybe it will be well enough organized that the hall will be oddly flooded by a bunch of UCP bootlickers who would never have considered attending any of a vast variety of apolitical SACPA public educational events in the past?

Well I hope that all who attend will remember that most of these events are recorded. Let’s see how polite people in the audience are. Often ,but not always in the past ,the SACPA also records the question and answer period. It will be interesting to see if they do this time.

Alberta’s high electricity costs and the reasons for it, are numerous, and really, a big mess. Does anyone believe that the UCP are the savior for dealing with this and their few big corporate energy provider friends? No. The deregulation of electricity in Alberta by right wing politics, was/is unconscionable.
If the UCP takes enough drastic actions to fix this, I’ll swallow my tonsils, otherwise it’s just more UCP/TBA blibber blabber.

Chmie

Most of the stuff that comes out of his mouth is non sensical. He follows the party line no original thought, it will be a waste of time!
