LETHBRIDGE HERALD

Lethbridge Police have charged a 29-year-old woman with drug offences after she was caught with methamphetamine and fentanyl by an officer conducting a proactive bike patrol downtown.

Last Wednesday an officer with the downtown policing unit was on bike patrol near the Civic Centre field in the 500 block of 11 Street South when he saw a woman known to have outstanding warrants. The woman was arrested on her warrants and during a subsequent search, police found methamphetamine, pre-packaged doses of fentanyl, loose chunks of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia, including a scale with drug residue and pre-cut packaging, along with more over $300 cash proceeds of crime.

The drugs seized totalled 106 doses of methamphetamine and 44 doses of fentanyl.

Josee Gennifer Beatty of Lethbridge is charged with two counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of the proceeds of crime. Following a judicial interim release hearing, Beatty was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
