Lethbridge East MLA Nathan Neudorf will be among three Alberta cabinet ministers attending next week’s National Prayer Breakfast in Washington D.C.
Neudorf, who is also Alberta’s Minister of Affordability and Utilities, will be joined by Minister of Health Adriana LaGrange and Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Dan Williams in Washington.
The province says the attendance of its three ministers is aimed at strengthening relationships with one of Alberta’s main trading partners.
Neudorf will be in D.C. for three days starting Feb. 5, when he will attend National Prayer Breakfast events and meet with members of the U.S. Congress for two days.
On Feb. 7 he will be meeting with energy and electricity leaders. Williams has a similar itinerary while LaGrange has other engagements including a tour of the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Centre at Georgetown University and visits to the Milken Institute and MITRE Corporation.
The Milken Institute is an economic think tank based in California with offices in Washington as well as New York, Miami, London, Singapore and Abu Dhabi. MITRE is a not-for-profit “dedicated to solving problems for a safer world.”
The breakfast is set for Feb. 6 and will be the 73rd annual one.
The purpose of the foundation that hosts the breakfast, according to its official website, “is to promote and share the idea of gathering together in the Spirit of Jesus of Nazareth, adopted by the Senate and House Prayer Breakfast Groups in the United States Congress.”

The feds have tried to isolate Alberta and killed LNG deals when Japan and some European countries requested LNG from Canada. The feds have proven multiple times that they cannot be trusted with international trade deals that help the West, with the exception of BC which appears to be one of Trudeau’s favourites.
The Ministers should be in the US protecting our economy which includes the ag sector and the addictions Minister can share some facts of how Alberta is on the right track in the opioid crisis compared to other provinces.
I support our representation, having little trust in the NDP propped up Liberal government and the NDP keeps up its support as we just saw Singh stated he wants Parliament to come back and will not bring it down until some bills pass. Sure Singh, delay, delay, delay while Canada sinks further into the abyss!
Some facts for you:
—According to a 2024 report by ATB Financial, Alberta exported $134 billion in oil and gas to America, representing over 80% of Alberta’s total exported goods.
—In 2023, Alberta had the highest GDP per capita ($72,530) compared to the rest of the provinces.
—Alberta is the backbone of Canada’s natural resources exports in a heavily-integrated cross-border energy grid – and a 25% tariff would significantly disrupt its ability to produce these resources.
—However, similar embargoes are not being contemplated on, for instance, automobile parts from Ontario, or dairy products and electricity from Quebec.
Quebec exports enough electricity to the Americans to cause blackouts (or at least brownouts) in much of the U.S. Northeast if that supply were cut off. But the Liberals also instinctively know the economic costs to Quebec of an electricity embargo. By extension, they also know the political consequences for their party if they made Quebecers suffer for the common good of all Canadians.
Far better for Liberal fortunes in the next election to heap all the economic pain on one province that doesn’t vote Liberal anyway — Alberta. Ninety per cent of Canada’s oil exports to the U.S. come from Alberta.
If Alberta lost those exports all of Canada would feel the loss and Alberta would face the largest recession ever seen in this province. That would make the Liberals smile, since they have done everything possible to destroy the Alberta in recent years.
Lastly, we will be the biggest loser in a trade war with the US due to the NDP propped up/Liberal government that isolated us and kept us so reliant on the US.
Remember COVID when Trump slammed the door on Canada and we were left without medical supplies/vaccines? The Liberals promised Canadians we would have our own vaccine production and pumped over $1 billion into it, and last I heard the facility, where else, in Quebec was shuttered. So we still haven’t learned the lesson. There are many examples I could bring up, but that is all I have time for in this thread.
Alberta is justified sending Ministers and the Premier to fight for Alberta!
Fighting for Alberta eh?
They’re actually cucking for their Big Oil Overlords.
They need to fight for Canada.
Oh, and if they fight so hard for Alberta: Why do we have amongest the lowest wage per person in the Country if we’re so “rich”.
Spare me.
Oh please! Go smoke some more pot since you are too uneducated to see the issue!
As a devout Christian, you are an excellent choice to attend the Prayer Breakfast. Best to you on this important visit.
Can’t he pray here? For free?
Well of course he can and does. In case you missed it, Canada (Ottawa) has a prayer breakfast as well…. this year was very impressive and impressive with Pierre Pollievre presenting a Biblical message.
Great to see the meeting with members of Congress and the breakfast will be a bonus. Funny when Nutley was going to Washington and other US events to promote Alberta, no one said squat! But when our way of life and the Alberta economy is literally threatened, and our Premier makes the right decision to be diplomatic and try to protect of $135 billion annual exports in gas and oil products, the Numbskulled Drugged People go on attack!
We will be the biggers losers in a trade war with the US!
