BOUWMAN
Mr. Ted (Trynco) Bouwman, beloved husband of Mrs. Hennie Bouwman of Lethbridge, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday, May 31, 2013 at the age of 75 years.
Ted was born in Workum, Friesland, The Netherlands on February 25, 1938 to Lubbert and Uilkje Bouwman, the fourth of eight children. In the early 1950s, Ted immigrated with his family to Canada, settling in the Nobleford area. He met Hennie in the later part of 1959, was married to her in 1961, and they celebrated over 51 years of life together.
In the early years of marriage, Ted spent some time working in lumber, but the majority of his life was spent working in the agricultural industry. We all remember the long days he worked and how he took pride in a job well done. The past 27+ years have been spent working with the Leeuwenburgh families, a position Dad loved very much and worked in until two weeks before his passing. One thing we will take away from Dad’s life was his strong work ethic.
Some of Ted’s favorite activities throughout his lifetime were spent in playing broomball on Friday evenings. As kids, we loved to get the chance to go and watch him play. He loved camping and fishing, though it always seemed to rain the first day or two of each trip. Dad relaxed by reading Westerns and watching sports, mainly hockey. Remember those Saturday nights growing up when we couldn’t interrupt the hockey game! Dad didn’t always have a lot of free time, but he tried to enjoy it as much as he could when he did.
Dad’s faith was also important to him, especially the past couple of years. He reaffirmed his profession of faith and it was a special time for our family. Dad was a member of Trinity Reformed Church.
Left to mourn his passing, besides Hennie, are his children and their families: Leroy(fiancé Gina)of Swift Current, SK; Matilda(Arnold)of Taber, AB; Wilfred(Lorraine)of Bassano, AB; Julie(Harry) of Brooks, AB; Theo(Marcie) of Clinton, Utah.
He also leaves to mourn his siblings and their families: Ann Nieuwenhuis of Lethbridge; Nancy Bouwman of Calgary; Herman(Claudette) of Winnipeg, MB; Akke(Menno) Klunder of Sexsmith, AB; Uilke(Wynne) of Coaldale; Jake(Dori) of Chilliwack, BC.
Ted was predeceased by his parents, brother Ben and his wife Joan, brother Rudy, and brother-in-law John Nieuwenhuis.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Lethbridge Hospital ICU for the care and compassion they showed to Ted and to the family. You made a difficult time easier to bear.
A public Visitation will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME – 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.
