BROWN
May 26, 1975 – June 8, 2013
MICHAEL CRAIG WILLIAM BROWN, age 38, cherished son of Ken and Wendy Brown, passed away suddenly in an accident at his farm near Milk River on June 8, 2013.
Michael was born and raised in Milk River, AB. After high school he attended Lethbridge Community College and the University of Alberta before returning to the family farm to work alongside his grandfather, Harold Anderson, eventually taking over farm operations in 2007.
Michael’s life revolved around faith, family, farming and friends. He was born with a curiosity to figure out how things worked and quickly became “Mr. Fix-It”. Near or far, he was the first call when something didn’t work and needed repairing. He was always available to lend a helping hand, even if it meant his own work had to wait. He valued the importance of community and was a great contributor to the town of Milk River. Michael was a friend to all, never passing up an opportunity to visit and find out how you were. People of all ages were drawn to his infectious smile and generous heart. He always made sure everyone was included and you couldn’t help leaving him without a big smile on your face. Michael was always happy to see you; he watched out for you, pulled you out of the ditch, and always made sure you were safely home. Mike’s heart was bigger than he was, and he had an extra special spot for his grandmother, Mama, and his nieces and nephews. Uncle Mike could always get the loudest squeals and biggest laughs. He always made sure Mama was taken care of, and that she knew how to work the remotes. There wasn’t anyone he met that didn’t become a friend. His passing leaves a hole in our hearts, but we know that we will be together again.
Left to treasure his memory are his parents, Ken and Wendy Brown, his grandmother, Kathleen Anderson, and his siblings: Lori Brown, Aaron (Christine) Brown, Traci (Joshua) Sherwood (Taylor, Nathan, Andrew, Mason), Kathleen Brown, Peter (Kelly) Brown (Whitney), Chantelle (David Dudley) Brown, and Nola (James) Haynes (Scarlet).
He was predeceased by his grandparents Harold Anderson and William and Zelda Brown.
The Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, COUTTS, ALBERTA. Friends may meet the family prior to the service, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment in the Milk River, Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Milk River Volunteer Fire Department.

JENNIFER DAWN (CARLSON) RICHMAN
OCTOBER 6, 1978 ~ JUNE 7, 2013
With great sorrow, Matthew Richman and the Carlson family announce the passing of Jennifer Dawn (Carlson) Richman, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law, and friend.
With enormous gratitude, we celebrate Jenn’s life. Though her final hours were tragic, the 34 years preceding were an exceptional example of how one woman’s love, dedication and enjoyment of family, friends and career can affect so many people. Her spirit lives on in our hearts and in the son who is her great and final gift to us.
Jenn delivered her firstborn child, a healthy boy, Kipp, on the afternoon of June 4th. Mother and son spent some joyous time together before complications developed. Before dawn on Friday June 7th, Jenn, as beautiful as ever and surrounded by her closest family, passed peacefully.
Born in Taber, Alberta, Jenn grew up with her brother Lee and sister Jessica on a ranch in a valley along the Old Man River run by her parents Art and Judy and her grandparents Helmer and Marjorie Carlson. She went to Hays elementary and middle school and graduated from Vauxhall High School.
A life in the country and a love of the land defined Jenn’s passions. She graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Conservation Sciences from the University of Alberta, where she first met Matthew and a circle of friends with whom she remained close throughout her life.
Jenn worked as a Rangeland specialist at the Public Lands Division in Lethbridge, and travelled widely throughout the province conducting grasslands research, especially focusing on the sustainability of native species. She greatly enjoyed her work and was widely respected by colleagues, farmers and ranchers.
Matthew and Jenn married May 23rd, 2009 in an outdoor ceremony at Waterton Lakes National Park, soon after they established a home just south of Lethbridge. She and Matt had many great adventures together both in southern Alberta and abroad.
We will miss Jenn greatly and remember her well.
Jenn is survived by her son Kipp Richman, husband Matthew Richman; her parents Arthur and Judith Carlson; her brother Lee Carlson; and sister Jessica Geerligs and family Vince, RaeLeigh and Mattais.
