Edna Wickenheiser
1935 – 2013
It is with great sadness and fond memories that we announce the passing of Edna Joyce Wickenheiser in Taber on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the age of
78 years.
The Service will be held at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 – 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Vincent TuanHa officiating. Burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge.
Condolences may be forwarded by visiting our website at http://www.southlandfuneral.com.
Edna is survived by her children Betty Wickenheiser of Sylvan Lake, Dale
(Bev) Wickenheiser of Lethbridge and Mark Wickenheiser of Toronto; her ninety nine year old mother Bella Karpuk; four grandchildren Chris, Adrian, Kerri and Kenny; five great grandchildren Shayla, Rand, Kaylee, Grace and Conner. She is also survived by sisters Kay (Jim) Gardiner, Alice (Dean) Ellis, Ruth Bobby, Bernice (Allan) Wiwcharuk and Sheila Chapik (Curt); brother-in-law Mort Seagal. Also left to mourn her passing is her best friend and caregiver Myrna Lynn as well as Henry and Daisy Wickenheiser, Mardel Mitchell, Marlene Hansen and Darlene Waddle who were also a big part of Edna¹s life.
She was predeceased by her daughter Sandra Wickenheiser, father Harry Karpuk, sisters Linda Byker and Hilda Seagal, brother-in-law Russ Bobby.
With the help of her dear friend Myrna Lynn, Edna moved into Clearview Lodge in 2010 where she enjoyed her time and made friends with everyone.
Unfortunately she had to be hospitalized in November 2012. Edna loved to smile and just sit in the sun and have fun. Her favorite passion was her television, whether she was watching figure skating, curling, hockey, baseball or anything else that might catch her eye while flipping through the channels with the remote in one hand and a can of Coca-Cola in the other. She loved company, visiting and was interested in what we were doing and what we were making for supper. Edna enjoyed puzzles, needlepoint, crocheting, knitting and making quilts. She was also an amazing cook. Edna loved to make perogies and cinnamon buns which her kids would sneak from the freezer. Even in later years she still planted a garden and tended to her flowers. Edna was truly an amazing, beautiful lady who will be greatly missed by all.
Good friends are like stars.
You don¹t always see them but
you know they are there.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Edna¹s name may be made directly to the Alberta Lung Association, Box 4500, Station South, Edmonton, Alberta T6E 6K2.
Arrangements in care of Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber. Telephone: (403)
