VAN DEN BERG
On Saturday, December 14, JURRIE and his son MIKE were flying to Tofino to visit friends when they were
both tragically taken from us in a plane accident due to bad weather.

(Linda) McLeod, mother-in-law Cathy McLeod, brother-in-law Garry and his daughter Sierra, brother-in-law

on October 24, 1962 in Holland and attended school there till he was 15. He then attended boarding school
in Torquay, England. After completing school he traveled to St. Paul, Minn. and worked at several farms
before moving to Picture Butte. After immigrating to Canada he met and married Susie the love of his
life. Soon after they started their family with Mike being born in 1989 and Carlie in 1992. Jurrie had
many many business ventures which included farming, planting trees, rig work, bobcat work then in 1992 he
settled down and purchased Porcupine Corral Cleaning. Jurrie had a real vision as he was able to build
his company by being very innovative. He built and purchased machinery that nobody else would consider.
No matter what the commodity, manure, snow, gravel and dirt. Jurrie moved it like no other. Jurrie was a
man known for his fearless spirit and NEVER was afraid of a challenge. He always followed his heart.
Jurrie’s immediate family meant the world to him. He had a devote loyalty to his employees and customers.
Jurrie’s friends and the community he lived in, meant a lot to him. Jurrie was the “go to getter’ done
guy” that everybody called when something needed to be done.
Mike Van den Berg is lovingly remembered by his mother Susie, sister Carlie (Darcy), his Opa & Oma
Marinus and Gerrie, aunt Janneke and her daughters Annika and Romy. Mike is also survived by his grandpa

Mark Bouchie and his daughter Marina and son Shawn. Mike is also survived by numerous friends. Mike was
predeceased by his aunt Midge Bouchie. Michael Marinus was born March 15th, 1989 in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Mike started his education in Picture Butte and finished it in Immanuel Christian High School. Like
father like son, Mike had a keen interest with machinery. He spent many hours at the Prairie Tractor Club
tinkering along side with the guys. Mike loved quading and spent many hours in the countryside exploring
neighbouring towns. His passion for flying started at the young age of 17 after his first flight with a
neighbor. After crop dusting for various companies, Mike, with the support of his Dad, was in the process
of starting their own crop dusting business. Mike cherished his friends and was always willing to lend a
helping hand. Mike was known and respected by all for his honesty and straightforwardness. Mike was
dependable and stood beside his friends with a caring heart.

William “Bill†Thomas Long
1934 – 2013
William “Bill†Thomas Long passed away at his home in Pincher Creek on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the

Bill was born on July 6, 1934 in Fort Macleod, Alberta to Thomas and Connie Long. He was an only child,
as his parents passed away in a tragic car accident while picking berries in the fall of 1935. He
