BENNY BERND KROPIUS
November 19, 1950 –
January 26, 2014
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father, and dear friend to many. Benny Bernd
Kropius suddenly passed away on January 26, 2014 in Great Falls, Montana. Benny was born in York,
Germany. He had two brothers and one sister. They came to Canada in 1953, where they moved to Vauxhall,
Alberta but later settled in Lethbridge, Alberta. He was the first in his family to graduate High School
where he went on to become a successful horse trader and eventually horse buyer. Benny was married to
Linda Kropius for 20 years. They had 2 children that they raised on their ranch in Fort Macleod, Alberta.
He will always be remembered for his generous and kind heart and lively conversations. Benny’s contagious

and great friends the Barkshires. Benny was predeceased by his father Kurt Kropius, brother Peter and

FUDRA
Mrs. Annie Fudra peacefully rejoined her husband in heaven on January 28, 2014 at the age of 89 years
old.
Annie was born on May 28, 1924 in Paczin, Hungry. She, her mother, and sister joined her father in Canada
in 1934. At an early age she began working in the beet fields in Raymond, which is probably where she
gained her resilient spirit. She married the love of her life, Steve Fudra Jr., on January 21, 1943
during one of the biggest snowstorms to hit the area. They celebrated 57 years of marriage before Steve’s
passing. In 1961, with their 2 children, Frank and Louise, they moved to Lethbridge. Annie proudly
welcomed all into her home in North Lethbridge for 52 years.
Mom was passionate, giving, fiercely independent, and never held anything back. She loved her family with
every piece of her heart. Nothing made Mom happier than her family and friends. She showed everyone her
love through food. Mom will forever be remembered preparing huge meals of cabbage rolls, fried chicken,
perogies, and homemade soup. She could often be found baking homemade bread and wonderful Hungarian
pastries. When she wasn’t in the kitchen she was busy tending to her garden.
Mom will be deeply missed by her daughter Louise (Gordon) Balderston, son Frank (Jean) Fudra,
grandchildren; Tamara (Tony) Nelson, Raquel (Nick) Polychronopoulos, Nicole Balderston, Jeffrey
Balderston, great-grandchildren; Britain and Taylor Nelson, Evan and Noah Polychronopoulos. She will be
lovingly remembered by her sister Jean (Lorne) Kropinak, several nieces, nephews and many other family
members and cherished friends.
Annie is predeceased by her parents Frank and Julia Sera, an infant son Jack Stephen, and sister Ethel
Kasko.
Thank you to everyone for your love and support, many phone calls and visits to Mom. Warmest thanks to
Lethbridge Home Care staff who kept Mom in her home for so long and the nursing staff at Edith Cavell who
supported her at the end of her journey.
