HEAVEN HAS A NEW ANGEL

DAPHNE JILL INGRAM WLOSEK came to the world on May 9th 1953…the most treasured Mothers day gift
ever…and left from her home on Kootenay Lake B. C. in the tender care of her husband Richard, her
sisters April and Erin and her eldest brother Robin on Wednesday April 30.
Jill was born at home in Frank, AB. and grew up in Coleman, proud to be from the Crowsnest Pass. The third
child in a family of eight children she always had a goal in her sights and upon graduating high school
she earned a B.Sc. from U. of C. followed by a Masters degree in Public Management from the U. of AB. For
35 years she worked in the Alberta Govt. Pensions and Payroll, aware and caring of those in her
department, following the events in their lives, always a friend and not a boss.
In 1986 at their home in St. Albert Jill married her Polish prince charming, Richard Wlosek and they were
devoted to one another for their all too brief thirty years together. In 2006 they bought their
retirement home and moved to the Kaslo area where they began making a circle of new friends while never
forgetting the old.Their home was filled with the laughter of family and neighbors who all responded to
Jills loving nature (she never made an enemy) and Richards endless hospitality.
She is survived by her beloved Richard and his mother Margaret, his brother Zbig, and sisters Danusia
(Vern), Alice (Terry), Tenia (Mario) and nine dear nephews and nieces: Stefan, Andreas, Niko, Michael,
Adam, Mark, Alex, Bridget and Mykala.
Jills family include her mother Muriel Shepherd of Lethbridge, sisters April (Dwight) Russill of St.
Albert, Erin (Rob) White of Bellevue and her five brothers, Robin (Pam) Ingram of Calgary, Kevin (Dixie)
Ingram of Innisfail, Rory(Shelley) Ingram of Pincher Creek, Sean (Linda) Ingram of Sparwood and Sandy
(Mernie) Russell of Calgary.
There are fourteen nieces and nephews Jill doted on: Robyn (Liam) Hicks, Rhena (Bernie) Failing and Ryan
Clubb, Benn Ingram, Angela and Coleman (Andrea) Ingram Ashley (Tyler) Conley, Seamus White, Seanade
(Riley) White, Liam (Meredith) White, Emily and Carly Russell, and Holly and Hannah Ingram.
There are also nine next generation nieces and nephews; Alley and Danni Clubb, Brooklyn, Reese and Ben
Failing, Maeb and Gwyn Hicks and Morgan and Carter Conley.
Jill will be sadly missed by her aunts Jan Fife, Beth Money, Susan Roll and her uncle Allan Yuill as well
as step-sisters Rhonda Sorgard and Terri Paton.
She was predeceased by her father Garnet Ingram, and two devoted step fathers, John Russell, and Charlie
Shepherd as well as an aunt Marion Sullivan.
Jill loved cats and Xword puzzles, flowers and friendships, WINNERS shopping, date cookies and red
licorice but above all she loved her family and Richard for eternity.
On the long weekend in May a celebration of a life lived to the fullest time allowed will be held at the
Wlosek home at Fletcher Falls on Kootenay Lake.
The family request no cards of condolence please. Instead in Jills memory hold those you love a little
closer.

VIOLET MCMANUS
Hazel Violet McManus nee Knight was born on May 2, 1919 at Leader, Saskatchewan.
Violet lived with her parents north of Richmond, Saskatchewan and was the sixth of ten girls born to Ella
Dora and Alfred Knight. When she was eight years old her parents moved the family to Leader, Saskatchewan
from the farm, and in the spring of 1929 they moved to Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
In Swift Current, Violet received her early public schooling including part of her high school education.
In 1942 Violet met and married Alexander McManus of Madison, Saskatchewan, on June 24, 1942. She raised
his three sons from a former marriage – Donald, Jack, and James – and three children by their marriage –
David, Bruce and Elizabeth.
When the children were grown, Violet and Alex retired in Kindersley in 1973, where they made many friends
and Violet painted murals on their garden fence. After Alex passed away November 22, 1986, Violet lived
in her home on Overlord Crescent for a year and a half. She then sold it and bought into Pinceman Place
where she lived until April 15, 1993 when she moved back to Swift Current (53 years after she had left).
Ultimately, after a short period in Viscount, Saskatchewan, Violet found a comfortable home near her
daughter, Elizabeth, in Lethbridge, a city in which she could be close to three of her great-
grandchildren, Jaxon, Grace, and Sophie.
Violet enjoyed her years in the United Church choir in Madison and the St. Paul’s United Church choir in
Kindersley, as well as her many years on the farm, her six children, and her husband Alex. Friends and
neighbours were always welcome and were forever dropping by for coffee or a meal. Violet kept a large
farming and gardening operation running smoothly on time, while being a master chef and inspiration to
her family, hired help and friends.
Violet was deeply loved by all who had the good fortune of knowing her. She had a special sense of
humour, a bushel of commonsense, and a hard-headed view of the world that guided not only her children
and grandchildren, but also her many, many friends. She had a special passion for her family and friends,
and kept an incredibly well-documented set of photo albums that chronicled the comings and goings of
people in her life.
As noted, Violet was predeceased by her husband Alex. But she also lost two of her stepsons, Don and
Jack, her dear grand-daughter Krista, her daughter-in-law Shirley, her love in recent years, Edward
Oldhaver, and her own mother and father and nine sisters.
She leaves to mourn her loss one daughter, three sons, 19 grand-children and many great- grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Violet requested that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
A funeral s not planned but rather, at Violet’s request, the family will celebrate her life and legacy at
some time in the upcoming months.
