By Lethbridge Herald Obituaries on June 12, 2014.

(William Thomas) Tom Ferguson was born August 1, 1935 and died June 4, 2014. He was predeceased by his parents, Isabelle and Hugh, and sisters Yvonne and Huelda. Left to mourn his passing are Carole, his loving wife of 54 years, his six children Marnie, Rochelle (and Farron), Jeff (and Paula), Lane (and Tracy), La Vonne (and Tony) and Glen (and Kim), nineteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and five additional grandchildren gifted to his family.
Tom’s life was extraordinarily integral in how it fit together. He was a devoted husband, father and farmer. He was solid in his friendships, his service to others and as an advocate for the betterment of the wider community.
Tom was especially loved as a husband and a father. He was always there for his family; supporting, teaching, helping. His sense of humour would always help to lift and carry any load. Having fun while working hard together provided the medium by which grew respect, honesty, integrity and work ethic. This legacy now spans three generations.
He loved the mountains, the land and the country way of life. Retirement to Tom included farming, reading, coffee and conversation.
His love for others and dedication has enriched this community and the lives of family, friends and any he chanced to meet. He was truly a remarkable man that touched so many lives. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, community and beyond.
A memorial service for Tom will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at THE PINCHER CREEK COMMUNITY HALL, 287 Canyon Drive, Pincher Creek, AB. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society #200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 2P5, or any charity of choice.

PAYNE
DR. VERNON KENT PAYNE, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Saturday, June 7 in Calgary, Alberta.
He was born in Aurora, Utah on March 14, 1933 to Conrad and DeLora Payne.
Kent is survived by his wife: Helen; his children: Brian (Robin) Payne, Shawna (Alan) Peterson, Steve (Linda) Payne, Sheryl Payne; and daughter-in-law: Angela (Jess) Wilde. Also 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his sons: Vernon Kent Payne Jr. (1966) and Jeff Payne (2009).
Kent graduated from Utah State University with degrees in chemistry and zoology. The family soon moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he attended Marquette Dental School, graduating in 1959. Kent served his country in the U.S. Public Health Service as a dental surgeon, assigned to the U.S. Coast Guard Station New York City, later serving American Indian populations in both Arizona (Apache) and Utah (Ute). Kent enjoyed the native people and had friends here from the many years he worked at Standoff.
While in dental school, Kent had a friend from Canada who convinced him to move to the great country north of the border. Kent was an avid sportsman, so the amazing hunting and fishing opportunities were very tempting! He decided that Calgary was the place he wanted to raise his children and he proceeded to set up a dental practice there where he worked from 1961 to 1974. He then moved his family to Lethbridge where he practiced dentistry in both Fort Macleod and Standoff (Blood Reserve).
Kent was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was married in the Logan, Utah temple and enjoyed 60 years of marriage with his sweetheart, Helen. He was generous, kind, and always willing to share his talents with others.
A Private Service will be held in Logan, Utah. Interment will be held in the Logan City Cemetery.
