On December 20, 2014, after a lengthy illness Cliff passed away at his home in Pincher Creek, AB with his family and his furry friend KT by his side. Mrs. Florence Petrie of Lethbridge, beloved spouse of the late Mr. Norman Petrie, passed away on December 21, 2014 at the age of 89 years. She was survived by her son Jim (Colleen), daughter Charlotte (Charlie), grandsons Terry & Robert, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. Florence is predeceased by her husband Norm, her parents Thomas & Charlotte Cardwell, two brothers, and eights sisters. Eve was a registered nurse at the Lethbridge Hospital for 35 years. She graduated from the Galt School of Nursing in 1946. A private graveside service will be held in Archmount Cemetery, with Canon Allan McCuaig, officiating. GARY KEITH HIRSCHE, passed away in Taber, Alberta on Sunday, December 21st, 2014 at the age of 78 years, beloved husband of Shirley Gorham Hirsche. JUHAR
PAUL JUHAR, beloved husband of the late Pauline Juhar, formerly of Sundial and Turin, passed away at the Edith Cavell Nursing Home on Saturday, December 20th, 2014 at the age of 86 years. He is lovingly remembered by his children, John (Sheila) Juhar, Anita (Rick) Nieuwendyk, Terry (Bernie) Sjostrom and his three grandsons Jeff (Stephanie), Jason and Darcy Juhar. He is also survived by his sisters in law, Rose (Tony) Hormoth, Daniella (Ken) Beet, Mary (Darrell) Wall and Millie Fen as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Slovakia. Paul was predeceased by his loving wife Pauline, his parents John and Mary Juhar and his siblings Maria, Frantisek, Jan and Imrick. Paul was born July 30, 1928 in Podproc, Slovakia, the youngest of five children. He immigrated to Canada in 1951, working at various jobs from coal mining to hospital maintenance before settling on farming as his lifetime occupation.
Paul married Pauline Kubik on Sept. 21, 1957. They farmed in the Sundial area before moving to the hamlet of Turin. Paul continued actively farming well into his 70’s. A Memorial Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Deacon Cliff Bogdan officiating. Nilsson
Jerry Ray Nilsson of Bassano, Alberta beloved husband of Theresa Nilsson, passed away after a short illness on Saturday, December 20th, 2014 in Bassano at the age of 58 years. Jerry was born on August 18th, 1956 in Lethbridge and raised in Warner. After graduating, he moved to Calgary to attend SAIT to receive his Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma, and continued on with a Journeyman Lineman Certificate. He worked as a Powerline Man for TransAlta in Vulcan, Cochrane and then to Claresholm, where he met his wife Theresa. They were married in Claresholm in 1992, then moved to Bassano. Jerry later started working for Fortis. He loved curling, golfing, fishing, and motorbiking. Jerry was predeceased by his parents Bert and Muriel Nilsson. Besides his wife Theresa, Jerry is also survived by his daughters Melissa of Edmonton and Amanda of Bassano; 4 sisters, Sharon (Ken) Turnbull, Janet (Hal) Culler, Debbie (Ken) Brittner and Connie (Alan) Martens. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 30th at 2:00 PM from Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooks, Alberta. Rev. John Theiss officiating. Interment at Bassano Cemetery. REYNOLD TIRLING, beloved husband of the late Anna Tirling, passed away at the Coaldale Health Centre on Monday, December 22, 2014 at the age of 90 years. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Omray Curtis of Lethbridge and Eldon Tirling of Victoria, B.C., his grandchildren, Tony (Megan) Curtis of Coaldale, Tara (Kevin) Vucurevich of Lethbridge, Shannon Tirling of Vancouver, B.C. and Chelsey Tirling of Victoria, B.C., and his great-grandchildren Brody and Mackenzie Curtis and Mila and Nikki Vucurevich. Reynold is also fondly remembered by his three brothers, Helmut (Dorothy) Tirling of Edmonton, Ken (Jeannie) Tirling of Houston, Texas, Eric Tirling of Camrose and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his wife Anna, he was predeceased by his two sisters, Ida Stratt and Irna Gommeringer. HENRY TSCHETTER, of Riverside Colony, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of our Savior at home, December 23, 2014 with his family by his side. Henry was born August 17, 1946. Henry leaves to cherish his memory his five children: Evelyne, Rosanna (Rev. Albert), Linda (David), Ken (Carole) and James; 14 grandchildren; 2 brothers Joe (Lydia) and Fred; 3 sisters Lena (Henry) of Biggar, SK; Marie (Wally) of Schoonover, WA and Martha. He was predeceased by his wife Sarah; his parents Joseph & Katie; his brother Billy; a baby sister and a grandchild Zipporah.
