BEATRICE NAOMI (LIVSEY) TOLLEY
The family of Beatrice Tolley is saddened to announce her peaceful and sudden passing from this life on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Cardston, Alberta. Beatrice is predeceased by her husband Ilo, who passed away in May 2005 and her grandson Aaron. She is survived by daughter Judy Erickson (Royden) of Mountain View and Paul Tolley (Pamela) of Calgary, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Beatrice was born in Toronto, Ontario on November 19, 1925, the only child of Albert and Ethel Livsey. Beatrice grew up in and around the Toronto area in the midst of loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Her life changed forever when she met a young airman at a dance in Toronto on June 5, 1943. She and Ilo were immediately attracted to each other and kept in close contact even through Ilo¹s military postings to many different locations. They were married on September 20, 1944. Following the conclusion of Ilo¹s military service they settled in Mountain View where Ilo engaged in ranching and Beatrice became an extraordinary mother and homemaker. They eventually settled on property located at the north end of Payne Lake west of Mountain View and ran a successful ranching operation for some 45 years. It was during these years that Beatrice became the office manager of Simmental Breeders Cardston Ltd. and worked in that capacity for many years. Beatrice was a kind, generous and loving woman who was devoted to church and family. Throughout her life she held various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and in 1999 she and Ilo served a mission to the Toronto Ontario Temple. Beatrice had a great love for her family and always rejoiced at being part of family events and celebrations. She loved her family and it showed in her efforts to acknowledge birthdays, graduations and other significant events. She will be remembered as a kind and generous women who had great compassion for those in need. No one ever left her home with an empty stomach or an aching heart. She will forever hold a special and sacred place in our hearts. Special thanks go to the staff at Lee Crest Care Centre and to Dr. Brian Low for your thoughtful care of our mother. The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mountain View, Alberta on Saturday, January 3rd at 11:00 a.m.. BRIGHAM CITY – LaVaughn (Bonnie) Baird, 86, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2014 in Brigham City. She was born to Annie Jensen and Ervin Jennings Fawns on August 23, 1928 in Raymond, Alberta Canada. She met her husband Orrin E. Baird at Brigham Young University and they were married in the Cardston, Alberta Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 14, 1950. She was a dedicated mother, wife, sister, neighbor, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to all. She was known as Grandma Bonnie to all of her great grandchildren. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings, including a mission to Nauvoo, and within all other church organization throughout her life. She was especially involved within the LDS Church library, primary and also scouting programs that involved her boys and other boys within her LDS wards. Many still remember her as being their Webelos scout leader. She worked as the head cook for Bunderson Elementary School for many years until she retired. She took great pride in her cooking and canning and passed those skills to all of her boys and whoever else asked. She was an excellent seamstress and quilter and lovingly made each member of her family and extended family a quilt as wedding gifts. She is survived by a sister Vivian Fawns, sister-in-law June Fawns, Raymond, AB; and her own five boys: Randall (Debra), Perry; David, Brigham City; Richard (Amy), Layton; Mark (Terri), Waterford, NY; and Gary (Sarah), Galt, CA; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and many Baird and Swenson family members. Services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City 20th Ward Chapel, 650 Anderson Dr., Brigham City. Friends may call on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, and on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the Church. Irene Clark was called home to the Lord December 30, 2014 after a wonderful 92 years. She passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, Alberta after a short hospital stay. Irene is lovingly remembered by her son Ted Clark, daughter Colleen (Dave) Slovack, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, with another on the way. Her grand children include Ryan (Abby) Slovack, Amy (Shawn) Hass, Mark (Ashley) Slovack, Julie (Brett) Hoult, Jordan Hagg, Kimberly (Shawn) Smith and Kelsey Hagg. She was predeceased by her husband Telford Clark, her daughter Patricia Hagg, her parents John and Mary Lukacs and all ten of her siblings. Irene was born in Retlaw Alberta, raised on the Lukacs family homestead and had a love for music and singing. She married Telford, the love of her life, in 1942 and they were married for 57 years. She was a dedicated mother and Å’Grammy¹. She filled all our lives with love and care and will be greatly missed. A celebration of Irene¹s life will take at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME – 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday January 3, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. with burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Mrs. Edna Alberta Curle (Brown) of Claresholm passed away at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre on December 28, 2014 at the age of 98 years. She is survived by her son David (Julie) Curle of Spanish Fork, Utah; her daughter-in-law Janet Curle (Shearer); her seven grandchildren Shauna Spiers, Laurie James, Susie Bishoff, Jared Curle, Brad Curle, Heather Lessley and Holly Fenn; her great-grandchildren; her sister Elsie Bowen and her brother Stanley (Vera) Brown; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. Edna was predeceased by her husband David on October 1, 2004; her son Mel on February 8, 2006; her parents Ernest and Carrie-May Brown; her brothers Elmer, Murray, Mervin and Harvey; and her sister Vera. Edna was born in the White Lake District. She married David in 1938 and they farmed in the Granum District until retiring to Claresholm in 1980. MR. SYDNEY IVES, beloved soulmate of Jessie Witbeck of Lethbridge, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 29, 2014 at the age of 63 years. Sydney is survived by his children: Jody Sullivan (Eric Crofoot), Spencer Ives, and Jamie (David) Houston; grandchildren, Dustyn Sullivan, Syprus Ives, Alexis Ives, Asia Ives, Mckailyn Ives-Houston, Emily Houston and Tyrus Houston. He is also survived by his mother Eloise Ives (Joe Klimosko), siblings; Debra Ives, Melody (Don) Bobinec, Cindy (Lindsay) Hamabata, Warren Ives, Renee Ives (Andrea Amelincix) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sydney was predeceased by his father Stanley Ives. Sydney valued family and friends above all else.

Mrs. Joyce Evangeline Catherine Hosack (nee Perrich) of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Ross Hosack, passed away at the Calgary Foothills Hospital on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at the age of 82 years. Besides her beloved husband Ross in 2010, Joyce was predeceased by her parents Walter and Catherine Perrich, brothers Boris, Tom John, and Alexander. She will be dearly missed by her children Maureen (Niel) Covey of Seattle, WA, Barrie (Nancy) Hosack of Lethbridge, Darlene (Brian) Winch of Calgary, and Allen (Bev) Hosack of Lethbridge; and one brother Percy Perrich of Edmonton. Joyce was a wonderful grandmother to nine grandchildren Jasmine and Candice Covey; Leanne and Jason Hosack; Brandon and Tyler Winch; and Alexandra, Travis and Desire Hosack. Joyce was born in Vegreville, Alberta. Her school years were attended in the communities of Mundare, Corbette Creek, Onoway, and Barrhead, Alberta. After graduation she met and married her husband Ross Hosack on July 14, 1951.
Joyce was a very social person and was part of several community based organizations like the Kinettes where she made many lifelong friends. She loved the company of family which often involved playing cards, bowling, camping, traveling, playing the organ or guitar and singing. Being raised by a musical family Joyce passed on her love of music to many family and friends. Her company was treasured and enjoyed by all. Joyce¹s family and friends appreciated her thoughtfulness and how she always put other¹s needs first. The family would like to thank all the care staff at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital and the neuroscience unit at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary. Luigi Glavina of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Nevia Glavina passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital on December 27, 2014 at the age of 79 years. Luigi Glavina was born on the 9th of October, 1935 in Capodistria, Italy. He was the third of five brothers. Luigi immigrated to Canada in 1957 and lived in Edmonton for 7 years before settling in Lethbridge. He married Nevia in 1961 and together they had two children. He worked at Parrish and Heimbecker (formerly Ellison Milling Co.) for 28 years. Luigi loved his family dearly and worked hard throughout his life to provide for them and to give his kids a better life. Through his example, he instilled in his children a strong work ethic and good moral values. He liked to be active and enjoyed his daily walks. During the summer months Luigi loved gardening and spent many hours tending to his vegetable plants especially his prized tomatoes. Every September, until he was able, he was excited by the arrival of grapes to make wine that was enjoyed and praised by family and friends. Besides his loving wife Nevia, Luigi is survived by his son Franco Glavina of Calgary, his daughter Laura and son-in-law Andy Chan of Franklin, Massachusetts, and his three granddaughters Kiara, Elana, and Caylee as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families in Italy.
Luigi was predeceased by his parents, Paolo and Maria, and his four brothers, Paolo, Bruno, Antonio, and Marino. Mr. Otas “Otto” Fomradas of Lethbridge, passed away on December 26, 2014 at the age of 68 years.
He was a master craftsman and painter serving the community of Southern Alberta for over 40 years. Otto took great, great pride in his work and was never satisfied until the work met his specifications… “good enough” never entered his vocabulary; it was always the “best work for all of his clients.” His latest work was doing a project for his nephew contractors in Saskatoon, working on million dollar homes.

She is also survived by four great grandchildren Lucas and Vivian Milliken, Ethan and Paxton Robins. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Jimmy Reid and sister-in-law Olive Reid. Mary was born in Brandon, Manitoba on May 29, 1926, the second of two children to Mary (nee Hay) and Andrew Reid. She met her future husband Bruce at church and they were married in Brandon on September 1, 1951. In 1953 Mary and Bruce moved to Lethbridge and then in 1957 made their permanent home in Taber. Mary was a full time homemaker as well as being involved in her community and church through UCW, Ladies of Kiwanis and 4-H Sewettes. She had a great love of music and sang in the Knox United Church choir for over fifty years. Mary enjoyed traveling, was an accomplished seamstress, an avid reader and as her family can attest, a wonderful cook. She was supportive of Bruce’s ventures, while ensuring the children had a well rounded upbringing in music, youth service groups, sports and faith based activities. A long life, well lived.
