DAVIES
ROBERT (BOB, BOBBY) ALAN DAVIES, beloved husband of Nancy Davies, of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away January 15, 2015 at 58 years of age. Besides his loving wife, Bob is survived by his daughter Shannon (Keith) Dykslag and his two grandsons Maverick and Memphis of Lethbridge, son Shane (Justine) Davies of Lethbridge, his father and mother Edgar and Mary Davies of Picture Butte, his sister Cheryl (Denis) Leclair and family from Picture Butte, sister Kathy (Jason) Brown and family from Lethbridge, sister Joanne (Hugh) Sully and family from Edmonton and brother Michael Davies and family from Picture Butte. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Hilda Valiquette, sister-in-law Deborah (Michael) Trumble and family, brother-in-law Ron (Penny) Keats and sister-in-law Jane (Jim) Corcoran and family, all from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Bob was predeceased by his grandparents Jack and Formosa Davies, grandparents Gabor and Barbara Tokai as well as his sister-in-law Josee Perrier Davies. Bob was born March 24, 1956 in Lethbridge Alberta. He was raised and educated in Picture Butte, graduating from Picture Butte High School in 1974. He was an athlete; he swam, played basketball, baseball, hockey and so much more. Bob’s passion for life came at a young age and lasted throughout his life. Bob met Nancy in 1978 and they began their life together. They were married on March 21, 1981 and their love was never ending, which led them to being married again in 2006. They added two children to their life and raised their family in Picture Butte. Bob was a dad that offered his children fun, guidance and constant encouragement. He was the dad that fixed the Barbie sports car, took you to your first boy band concert and taught you how to shoot the perfect jump shot from just outside the paint. He never missed a game and also offered pointers on how to improve your game. He was the dad that taught you how to be a goaltender, defensemen or whatever position you wanted to play that day. He took you to the rig to show you everything he knew, to pass down his wisdom and love for the oil patch. Bob loved to travel with his family, whether it was a camping trip in the summer, a road trip to the Sully’s to hit up the West Ed waterslides, or a trip out east to visit family. Bob loved to golf and would often spend time hitting the greens with his wife, son and many buddies. His passion for golf led him and Nancy to vacation in Arizona where he could spend most of his days on the golf course. Bob was the type of guy that would sit and have a beer with you and talk for hours even if he just met you. Bob spent his career working in the oil patch and he loved it! He loved the challenge, the people he met and the large amount of foul language one could use while working. Bob worked his way through the ranks and was awarded countless safety awards for running a great rig and crew. At the end of his career he owned his own consulting business and was successful and proud of the work he did. Bob’s proudest and most memorable moments were becoming a grandpa “Papa”. He loved shooting slap shots in the garage, seeing how many homeruns Maverick could hit over the fence in the backyard, taking him for a cruise to Picture Butte to visit grandma at the post office or check in with Uncle Mike at the rink. Sleepovers at Papas were always the best. Bob was a man that was loved by all. He was genuinely respected by everyone and will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and co workers. A Memorial Service will be held at ST. CATHERINE’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 462 Crescent Avenue, Picture Butte, AB on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Deacon Ray & Ellen Wagner officiating.
