DUNLOP
In deep sadness, we announce the passing of our loved father, grandfather and friend, ALEXANDER FORREST DUNLOP. Known to many as Forrest and to others as Scottie, Alec and Timber, Dad passed away peacefully on Friday, June 19, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.
An entrepreneur before many, Dad sailed in 1957 with his young wife (Greta) and daughter from Scotland to Canada to begin a new life. Settling in Lethbridge, Alberta, Dad began his Canadian life on a farm on the Sunnyside Road. Dad, always energetic and willing to work hard, excelled in many areas; as a farmer, mechanic, carpenter, welder, electrician and truck driver. Whatever he was determined to do, he did well and with pride. Together, he and Greta raised six children; Elaine, Sharon, Debra, Patricia, Karen and Roger. The family grew with 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Forrest & Greta loved nothing more than to holiday in their RV and spend time with family.
Forrest is predeceased by his wife Greta, whom he dearly missed, his sister Betty Elliot (Scotland).
He is survived by his six children and his youngest sister Moira Stewart (Scotland).
Dad, our lives have been enriched beyond words to have you as a father and friend. We will miss your wisdom, your great kindness, your amazing smile and the whistle on your lips. Be happy once more as you join Mom on your next journey. We will miss you for the rest of our lives. A special thanks to all of the doctors & nurses at the Chinook Regional Hospital on floor 3C and the palliative team.
At Forrest’s request, no funeral service will be held.

Pat was a devoted mom to Kelly (Al) Rypien, Sandy Williston, Jimmy (Laura) Kerr, and grandmother to Taylor and Matt Rypien, Aislinn and Emily Williston and Sydney and Sam Kerr.
Pat was born in 1938 in Sunderland, Ontario. She was predeceased by her parents, parents-in-law and nine siblings. Pat met Bill, the love of her life in 1956. Bill and Pat were married in 1958 and began their journey together in Pickering Village Ontario. It was during this time they welcomed Kelly, Sandy and Jimmy to join their journey. Pat devoted her life to raising her children, and creating a wonderful, loving home. Many summers were spent camping and traveling to the east coast to spend time with Bill’s family. Many lasting friendships were formed in Pickering Village due to her involvement with the church, hockey rink, soccer fields and her participation in community and professional activities. In 1983, Pat, Bill and family relocated to Lethbridge, Alberta where she continued to support her husband and children in their many endeavours. At this time Pat found a love for golf and spent many weekends with Bill. She re-entered the work force with a career at Lethbridge Family Services and continued to always support family and friends. JERKE
Martha Jerke, 86, passed away
peacefully with family on June 21, 2015. Her parents Julius and Emma Lewin came to Canada from Poland in 1927. Martha was born in Saskatchewan in October 1928, and the family homesteaded during the dirty 30’s in Marie Hill just east of Lloydminster. She was pre-deceased by 7 siblings (Adam, Ed, Lydia, Irma, Alma, Harold, and Frida). Her sister Betty (Vern) lives in Abbotsford, BC. After proving herself to his mother by milking cows, Martha married Karl Jerke in Westlock in October, 1948 in a Lutheran German ceremony. Their son Doug died in 1977, and Karl passed in 1984. Her remaining children live throughout southern Alberta: Dave (Viki) in Calgary; Rod (Corinne) in Lethbridge; and Darrell (Joanne) in Coaldale. She was Oma to many, and loved her grandchildren: Colin (Shelagh); Blair (Jenni); Megan (Niall); Hannah (DJ); Lauren (Mark); Ryan; Craig; and Karla, and great-grandchildren Jayden (Emilia); Liam; Taylor; and one on the way. Oma’s last words to them were, “I love you too”. Martha was famous for food (cabbage rolls), home remedies (cure-all), foot-rubs, and recycling. She was the proud and loving matriarch over many happy family gatherings at home and at her cabin in the mountains. She was kind, patient, and positive. She had a great sense of humor and always put relationships first. She was both our favourite old hen and wise old owl. She hated to be cold so passed away on the first day of summer. Even in her dying she taught us about service to others and the joy of simplicity. Faith was central to Martha’s life. As a little girl she wondered if she would end up as a missionary in Africa. Her whole life was an example of mission: she served family, friends, church and community. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 27, 2:00pm, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 2406, 11 Ave South. Internment will be at a later date in Cranbrook where Karl is buried. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Helen Schuler Coulee Centre or Interfaith Food Bank.
