LOIS SWAILES, dearly loved wife of the late Ed Swailes, passed away in Lethbridge on October 4, 2015 at the age of 89 years. Lois was born on July 13, 1926 in Saskatchewan, but spent most of her childhood in Picture Butte. Lois was an accomplished pianist, having obtained a teaching certificate from the Royal Conservatory of Music. She graduated from the Galt Hospital School of Nursing in 1949 with the Gold Medal of Proficiency and went on to work as a nurse until her children were born. Lois found the love of her life in Ed and they were married in 1950.

They had three children, Sandy (Tom) in Toronto, Tim (Glenda) and Jeff (Melanie) in Calgary. Lois enjoyed her grandchildren, Janay, Neil, Nolan, Taylor, Sydney and Austin.

We have the greatest admiration for the St. Michael’s palliative teams for the compassionate and excellent care that we received over the last months.

We wish to extend our sincere thanks to Lois’ many friends for their continued support and visits during her illness. Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, donations may be made to the Lethbridge Cancer Society. In keeping with Lois’ wishes, no service will be held.
