Dennis, Verne

With great sadness and a heavy heart we announce the passing of Verne Dennis, beloved husband for sixty years, of Ida. Verne passed away on Thursday November 26, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Ida, his children Val (Shelley), Fayra (Rick), Tim (Jo), Kelly (Don), Cathy (Tony), Wally (Nicole), 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

On March 4, 1935 Verne was born to Florence and Percy Dennis of Maycroft. He grew up on the family ranch with his brothers Bob, Mickey, Buddy and Spike. Verne attended Olds College to study agriculture for two years before returning home.

Verne met Ida at a Spring dance at the Maycroft Hall and they were married November 19, 1955. They continued to live at the Dennis family ranch in Maycroft where they raised their family of six children. Besides his love of ranching, he was an avid sportsman but his deepest passion was fishing. His generous spirit involved him in many organizations and causes within the Maycroft community. He drove a school bus for the Pincher Creek School Division for 28 years and he was a proud member of Chinook Masonic Lodge for over fifty.

Above all, Verne’s biggest love was for his family; his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He passed on his love of the ranch life to everyone who loved him. He will be sadly missed.

At Verne’s request, there will be a private family memorial.

Verne was grateful for all the care and support provided by the Crowsnest Hospital’s Doctors, Nurses, and staff. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation, Bag #1, Blairmore, Alberta T0K 0E0

ZENTNER

It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic death of FAITH ANN ZENTNER. on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the age of 51 years.

Faith leaves an incredible legacy that her husband Ralph and their two sons will cherish forever.

She is the loving mother of Chad (Sarah Drost) Zentner, Travis (Kinga) Zentner and a proud grandmother to Emma, Jaxon, Rowynn and Carter.

Faith will be lovingly remembered by Ralph’s family: mother Emilie and siblings-in-law, Mary Lea (Ken) Bassett, Elaine (John) Gill, Estelle (Garry) Lux, Gerard (Maureen) Zentner and Peggy Ann (Brad) Zeran as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Faith is survived by her parents Alvin and Joanne Oberhammer and three brothers: Laverne (Michelle), Keith and Harold Oberhammer as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Faith will also be remembered by her adopted families from the Blood Reserve: Fox, Day Chief, Day Rider, Wells, Creighton, White Quills, Crow Shoe, and First Rider families.

Faith was honored to receive her Blackfoot name given by our adopted grandmother Rosie Day Rider (deceased) “Ahkoinimaki” (Holy Pipe Woman).

Our Cornerstone Family will also remember the sparkplug of a boss who had great expectations, had our best interests at heart and had many deep meaningful conversations with all the staff. Faith had a unique ability to gather many good friends that will remember her in their own way.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, Harold and Jesse Fischer and by her father-in-law Edward Zentner.

Faith was born on August 6, 1964 in Red Deer but was raised and educated in Lacombe. After graduating high school she moved to Calgary to enter a career in funeral service. It was at the funeral home where she met Ralph and they were married in 1984. Following the birth of their two children they moved to Lethbridge to take over management of a local funeral home. Faith was very proud to be the first female funeral director in Lethbridge. In 1995 Faith and Ralph opened their own funeral home and were so proud to give back to the communities of Southern Alberta. They celebrated their 20th anniversary on November 5th, 2015 with their “20 Days of Giving Campaign”.

Faith was an incredibly passionate woman who could light up any room she entered. Her inner strength and beauty shined through. Most will remember her incredible smile. She was a force to be reckoned with, soft and pretty, yet tough and gutsy. She leaves a giant void. We will all miss her very much. She has touched so many lives.

Faith was like a flower; dancing with the wind and never gave up her roots. She was sensitive and this is what made her strong. Beyond all, she was beautiful, unique and timely. She loved having our funeral home beautifully decorated, inside and out with flowers and plants. Faith had a true appreciation for flowers so in saying that, they would be gratefully accepted by the family. Donations may also be made in Faith’s name to a charity of your choice.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at ST. MARTHA’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 355 Columbia Blvd. West, Lethbridge, AB., on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. with Father Roque Pereira officiating.
