Michael Larter

1952 – 2016

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Charles Larter on January 21, 2016 at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, at the age of 63 years. Michael was the beloved father of Rob and Keltie (mother Melanie) grandfather of Tyler and Karen’s best friend.

Dad was born April 4, 1952 in Saskatoon and grew up in Lethbridge. He received his journeyman ticket at NAIT, achieving the scholastic award, and becoming an outstanding journeyman insulator. He loved photography and cooking and animals loved him. He was a kind, generous, loving human being with an incredible inner strength, never looked for praises, was never one to boast, his wants were very few, his worries went unspoken, he was our greatest blessing.

Dad will be lovingly remembered by his sister Pat (Ken), his nieces Sherie and Sheila, his great nephew Austin (Breanne) and great nieces Shyla and Rosealee. Dad will also be lovingly remembered by Ron (Bev), their children Katherine (Mark) and son Jack, John, Curtis, Kimberly, and Brooklyn. Also left to mourn are his mother, brother and sister in laws, nephews and nieces, and many great friends.

Dad was predeceased by his parents Charlie and Lorraine, his niece Carol, his great niece Katlyn, Herbert and Anne, and the kind soul whose lungs gifted him six extra wonderful years of life.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you and whispered “Come to Me”.

With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away and although we love you dearly we could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating; hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge, AB.

Donations may be made in Michael’s name to the The Lung Association, Alberta & NWT, #208, 17420 Stony Plain Rd NW, Edmonton, AB T56 1K6.
