2 Timothy 1:12b

Lambertus Fredrikus Konynenbelt (Bert F.), beloved husband of Patricia (Visser) passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on February 2, 2016. He was 84 years of age.

Dad was affectionately known as Big Bert or “The Big.” He was born October 2, 1931, on the family farm near Nobleford, Alberta. It was here where he fulfilled his lifetime passion as a farmer, but also spent 28 years employed as a machine operator at Noble Cultivators which he commonly referred to as “The Mine.”

Bert met the love of his life, Patricia Visser, at a youth rally in 1958. They were married July 6, 1960 and were blessed with one daughter and three sons.

Dad was an active member of the Nobleford Christian Reformed Church where he was a faithful servant of Christ. He demonstrated humility, faithfulness and compassion to all who crossed his path.

Scott Shillington

1970 – 2016

Scott Sterling Shillington died of complications from surgery on February 3, 2016 in the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary.

A blond haired, blue-eyed metis boy, he was born in the wilds of Saskatchewan (Swift Current) November 22, 1970. He grew up in The Pas and Brandon, Manitoba. When the time came, he headed west to join friend, Greg Ross, to make his fortune, landing in Lethbridge. To his dismay his parents arrived there too, a few months later.

Scott was a cook and kitchen manager. He was proud of his craft and tried to follow a good work ethic. He was stubborn and often argumentative. He was also very bright and wise about many things – although he struggled with his addictive personality most of his adult life. He was an introvert, intensely private, yet with a good sense of humor, one who held his friends close to his heart.

He was loved by parents, Mary and Terry, by his sister, Amber, and by five nieces and nephews, Owen, Stephanie, Marissa, Aiden, and Dasan. He was close to friends, Greg Ross and Shawn Mullen.

Thanks go to medical people in both Lethbridge and Calgary (who battled to keep him alive), and to some very caring home care nurses.

A Memorial Service will take place 1:00pm on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329 15th Ave. S., Lethbridge, worship led by Trevor Potter.

In lieu of flowers you are invited to donate to the McKillop Memorial Fund, 2329 – 15th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1K 0X5 or to the Lethbridge University Student Union Food Bank, c/o Shelly Tuff, ULSU, SU180, 4401 University Drive West, Lethbridge, AB, T1K 3M4.
