Mary Albiston

1931 – 2016

With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Mary, beloved wife of the late Darrell Albiston on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Chinook Regional Hospital, at the age of 85 years.

Mourning her passing are her beloved son Andrew (Cynthia) Albiston and grandsons Jordan and Kian, brother Willie (Margaret) Woo, sister-in-law Darlene Woo and numerous nephews and nieces.

Mary is predeceased by beloved grandson Scott Albiston, parents Woo Ming and Ida Woo, brothers Henry Woo, George Woo, and sister Jessie (John) Allemekinders. Also, her beloved dog Tia.

Mary worked at the University of Lethbridge for 26 years and retired in 1994.

A special thanks from Mary and family to Dr. Lee Oviatt, Home Care Staff and all medical staff at CRH for their wonderful care and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Lethbridge Humane Society, 2920-16 Ave N, Lethbridge, AB or to a charity of your choice.

At Mary’s request, there be no formal funeral. A private family service will take place.

Eva Bullis

1931 – 2016

Ms. Eva Bullis of Lethbridge, passed away at St. Therese Villa on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the age of 84 years.

FILATOFF

JUSTINA “JESSIE” FILATOFF passed away peacefully at the St. Michael’s Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit, on Monday, March 7th, 2016 at the age of 89 years.

She is the loving mother of Mark (Lorie) Filatoff of Fort Macleod, and Kelly Filatoff of Lethbridge, grandmother of Braeden (Tanya) Filatoff and Cole Filatoff of Lethbridge and great- grandmother to Hannah and Joel Filatoff as well as a great-grandchild expected in June. She is also survived by her four sisters, Margaret Heibert, Elizabeth (Menno) Friesen, Marie (John) Reimer, and Ruth (Bob) Balinski, sister-in-law Elsa Peters as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband John, one brother and numerous sisters.

Jessie was born January 2, 1927 in Steinbach, Manitoba. She moved to Magrath with her family at a young age, later moving to Rosemary. She worked at the canning factories in Brooks and Magrath as well as the CJOC radio station. She took great care of everyone on the farm in Legend, retiring to Lethbridge in 1974. Jessie was very devoted to God and daily prayer was important to her. She was a kind, generous person who truly loved her family.

A Funeral Service will be held at the EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, 4717 – 24 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB., on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

MATTHEWS

ALMETA MATTHEWS, beloved wife of Wayne Matthews of Lethbridge, passed away on March 5, 2016 at the age of 74.

Mom will be sorely missed by those left behind but they’re celebrating her passage in heaven.

Almeta is survived by her loving husband Wayne, her children: Judy Lumley, Roger (Debbie) Matthews, Sean (Allison) Matthews; siblings: Richard (Cheryl) Wilton, Russell Wilton, Sue (Garth) Graham; grandchildren, great grand children, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother James (Carol) Wilton and her sister-in-law, Inga Jesswein.

Funeral Services will be held at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge, on Saturday, March 12 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Ken Dosso officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Compassion Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.


Mary Varzari

1927 – 2016

Mrs. Mary Varzari of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Mr. George Varzari, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016 at the age of 88 years.

ZEMP

REED HOLT ZEMP, beloved husband of Marie Dahl Zemp, passed away peacefully at Cardston AB, on Monday March 7, at the age of 88 years. Born in Raymond AB on October 11, 1927, he was predeceased by his parents and 10 siblings, he being the youngest in his family.

He is survived by his wife Marie Dahl Zemp, children: Karen Chipman (Robin), Kathy Meyer (Glen), Logan Zemp (Cyndy), Gary Zemp (Lynn Marie), Dal Zemp (Amy), Marilyn Lathen (Larry) and Kevin Zemp (Janni) as well as 35 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren.

He lived a happy life full of service to family, church and community. He taught for many years at the Cardston High School and also served on Town Council for eight years. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout his life. Church service included working in many capacities including a mission to Montreal in his youth and later, after retirement, to Zimbabwe with his dear wife. His continuous church service also included many teaching positions, Bishop, and High Councillor.

Temple service was a big part of his life as he spent 22 years as a temple worker, including 10 years as a sealer. For three years he was a member of the Temple Presidency.

He leaves behind a legacy of fun, kindness and faith. Many have received counsel, directions, and blessings from this devoted servant of the Master.

Friends may meet the family at the Legacy Funeral Home, on Friday, March 11th, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. or at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.

The Funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cardston Alberta Stake Center on Saturday, March 12th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Aetna Cemetery.
