Beulah Mae Long 1932-2016

Beulah Mae Long (nee Tolley) Lethbridge Alberta passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on April 9th with her family at her side. Beulah was 83 years of age. She is survived by her loving husband Gordon, two children Jocelyn Biederman (Leroy) and Joe (Janet), and their three children Tasha Shukys (John), Colby (Kim) and Tanya Towers (Graeme) and 7 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Shelley Ann Nelson and grandchild Sheldon Nelson, brothers, Ken and Bill.

The family would like to thank the Chinook Regional Hospital staff for their care and attention given to Beulah during her time there.

Dorothy Winnifred Kettles

Dorothy W. Kettles, beloved wife of the late Ernest Kettles passed away peacefully on Friday April 8, 2016 at the age of 95 years in Pincher Creek, AB.

Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her son Rodney (Elaine) and their sons Nate and Rylan, Granddaughter Stacey Kettles and her sons Tye and Maxum, Grandson Kyle (Tania) Kettles and their sons Ryan and Justin. She is also survived by her Daughter-in-Law Lorraine (Wayne) Sorge and Sister-in-Law Gertrude Kettles as well and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her loving husband Ernest, Dorothy was predeceased by daughter Doreen, son Norman and her parents. She is also predeceased by her siblings and their spouses: Mary and Bill Bagg, Lillian and Albert King, Bill and Norma Bird, Annie and Clarence Lynch.

Dorothy was born in the Robert Kerr District south of Pincher Creek on January 13, 1921 to Gertrude and Reginald Bird, the fourth of five children. Dorothy was raised and helped on the farm with her siblings. She attended the Robert Kerr and Crook one-room schools. During World War II, Dorothy worked in Calgary and then back in Pincher Creek.

Dorothy married Ernest Kettles on July 13, 1946. They lived and worked the Kettles farm east of Pincher Creek until Ernest’s passing. Dorothy moved into Vista Village in Pincher Creek in 2007 where she resided until her passing.

Dot and Ernie enjoyed their life on the farm. Many an evening was spent around the kitchen table with family, neighbors, and friends playing bridge and other card games. They also enjoyed bowling, golfing, travel, and a late night or two spent visiting and dancing at the Pincher Creek Legion.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Pincher Creek United Church (972 Police Avenue, Pincher Creek) on Friday, August 15, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Eras Van Zyl, Officiating. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Mrs. Lorraine Kirchner

1923 – 2016

It is with great sadness that the family of Lorraine Angela Kirchner, beloved wife of Marvin Kirchner, announce her passing, at the Coaldale Continuing Care Centre on April 8, 2016, surrounded by her family. Lorraine was born October 13, 1923 in Blairmore, Alberta to Marie Louise and Theophile Pirlot. She had one older sister Renee. Mom’s first language was French, and she did not learn English until she had started school. In 1935 Lorraine and her Mother traveled to Belgium to visit relatives and were not able to return until after WWII. She completed her schooling in Belgium.

She was working in Lethbridge when she met Marvin at a dance at the old Trianon Dancehall. They were married September 19, 1953. They had two children, Dwayne (Kris) and Laura-Marie Doenz (Bruce), six grandchildren, Kimberley (Les), Dessa (Rob), Elaine (Jordan), Adam (Becky), Blake and Janay (Jared). Ten great grandchildren, Shaye, Brennan, Teya, Graden, Carter, Finn, Maleeya, Keelin, Locklyn and Tate. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, sister and son-in-law Bruce and many relatives.

Lorraine was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She loved gardening and preserving the bounty of the garden. She enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, bowling, playing cards, golfing, and especially being with family. She was a caregiver all of her life beginning with her children but including her mother, her sister, father-in-law and many other people. Lorraine and Marvin had many pets but none were as special as their black poodle, Tiffany.

She will be sorely missed. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Coaldale Continuing Care Centre for the kindness and excellent care they gave Lorraine.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, April 15, 2016 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 St. S., Lethbridge, AB.

Larry Letkeman

1937 – 2016

Mr. Larry Letkeman, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Erna Letkeman, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the age of 78 years.

He loved to ride, to write. To tell stories. His stories of cowboy life, the working cowboy, the ways of their humble determination have been captured in mounds of photographs, poems and prose keeping him busy in his later years, spending hours editing, writing and documenting what the cowboy way was and what it meant. How it related to living a life led by your heart which was a life led by God. And that is the life he led until God called him home in a very quick and peaceful way.

He is very loved by his wife Erna, son Greg Letkeman, daughters Jocelyn Fortier, and Sherri and Byron Koskewich, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 7:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4 St. S., Lethbridge, AB.

Jeanne Owen

1940 – 2016

With both sadness and gentle relief, the family of Jeanne Annette Owen (Rider), announces her passing on Friday, April 8, 2016 at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit at the age of 75 years.

Jeanne, beloved wife of Eddie Owen for the last 58 years, is also survived by her 4 children, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren – daughter Deanne (Pete) Giesbrecht and their children Chris(Cindy) and their son Sabastian, Dex (Jessica) and their daughter Searra, Tasha (Dallas Pilon), daughter Jody (Brian) Kundrik, son Blaine (Darla) Owen their children Chelsea, Kamryn and Jacob and Wes (Shanley) Owen and daughter Kailee. She is also survived by her sister Lenora Glover as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jeanne was born to John and Rita Rider on June 13, 1940 in Lethbridge, Alberta and was raised and went to school in the Readymade community. After marrying Eddie in 1958 they moved to the family farm in North Tempest. She worked at the Royal Bank prior to meeting Eddie. After their marriage she helped support the family by working at Robinson Store, Martins IGA, Sears and Lethbridge Exhibition Horse Race Track. They sold the farm but remained on the acreage until 2003 when they moved to Coaldale. In 2014 Jeanne and Ed moved to Lethbridge where she resided until her passing.

After selling the farm they enjoyed their retirement by travelling all over the world and visited over 28 countries. Jeanne was very active in her community being a chartered member of the Kinette Club, Sunday School Teacher, 4H and many fundraisers. One of the highlights of Jeanne’s life was chaperoning the Young Voyager Program escorting 20 local high school kids to Newfoundland and hosting 20 from Quebec.

Jeanne spent many years spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was excited about another great grandchild who will join the family in August. Her love of gardening continued and in Coaldale she was known to have one of the most unique gardens. She thoroughly enjoyed helping with the Communities in Bloom Program in Coaldale, especially the year Coaldale won the award.

The family would like to thank Dr. Oviatt, Dr. Ireland and the staff at St. Michaels Palliative Care facility.

At Jeanne’s request a private immediate family only service will be held. The family invites you to Celebrate her Life by joining them on April 15th at COAST HOTEL, 526 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a formal tribute to Jeanne at 2 p.m.

PARTRIDGE

EMILY EMMA PARTRIDGE, beloved wife of the late Merv Partridge, of Magrath, AB, formerly of Lethbridge, AB, passed away at the Raymond Health Centre, on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the age of 86 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Albert (Joan) Reeb of North Dakota, U.S.A, surrogate daughter and sister in the Lord, Denise-Marie Demers, special friend and sister in the Lord, Jean Erickson as well as numerous nieces and nephews in the U.S.A.

Besides her husband Merv, Emily was predeceased by her twin sister Hilda, older sister Freida as well as her brothers Oscar, Otto, Carl, Paul and Emile.

Emily was born on August 15, 1929, in North Dakota, the seventh child to Pauline and Jacob Reeb. She ventured from home at the age of 24 years and migrated to Canada, where she lived in a number of different cities before settling in Lethbridge. Emily was a woman of great faith and a poetic scribe for her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. She had many spiritual children to whom she would share her spiritual wisdom and prayers with. Emily has now graduated to the highest level in her calling for her faithfulness as a servant of the Lord.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”

A Celebration of Emily’s Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. with Reverend Denise-Marie Demers officiating. Interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery.

ROBERT RABBIT passed away in Lethbridge on April 7, 2016 at the age of 48 years. A Wake Service will be held at the Senator Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve on Thursday, April 14th from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blood Reserve on Friday, April 15th at 11:00 a.m.

Mary Sandul

1917 – 2016

Mrs. Mary Sandul of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Wasyl Sandul, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at the age of 98 years.

Mary moved to Lethbridge from Manitoba in 2006. Since her arrival, she has made many friends in all the lodges she has lived.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Alberta Rose Lodge, Blue Sky Lodge, and the Bridges Program, Park Meadows Lodge and most recently, Edith Cavell Care Centre, for all the care and kindness over the years.

Mary is survived by her 3 daughters Jean Norgate, Ruth Yeryk and Debi Sandul; 2 sons Bill (Pat), and Alan (Thomasine); 11 grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 3 sisters Olga, Alice, and Sonia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Besides her loving husband Wasyl, Mary was predeceased by her daughter Elsie Lupky; 3 sons-in-law Francis Norgate, Ronald Yeryk, and Ronald Pries; 2 grandchildren Dwight Lupky and Gwen Lupky.

Mary will be laid to rest beside her loving husband in Southern Manitoba.
