She was predeceased by her husband Richard “Dick” Clemis, son Michael Clemis, son-in-law John DeBona and by her parents, three sisters and two brothers.
Helen was born on March 7, 1917 in Turtle Mountain, Manitoba to William and Kate Melville. She received all of her schooling in southern Manitoba and after graduating, knew that a career in teaching was her calling. Not only did that education later lead to more than forty years in the classroom, but it also resulted in her meeting Dick Clemis, a dashing RCMP officer who she married in 1945. Very soon after Helen and Dick were married, they moved west to Alberta and settled in Purple Springs.  They owned and operated the general store as well as building a successful grain and poultry farm.
Helen had many passions throughout her life. Besides her love of teaching, she enjoyed all of her pets, riding horses, playing the piano and organ, dancing and tending to her flowers and garden. Most importantly, Helen cherished her family. Over the years, there were dozens of homemade buns baked, meals made and fun had at the weekly Sunday gatherings at the farm.
“You lived a long, fulfilling life, mom, and though it is difficult to say goodbye, you are now with dad in eternal peace”.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Helen’s name may be made directly to the charity of one’s personal choosing.
The family would like to thank Dr. Armstrong and all of the nurses and caregivers in the long term care unit at the Taber Hospital that gave her comfort during her final journey.
