Mr. Bert Baker of Lethbridge, formerly of Edmonton, beloved husband of Mrs. Heidi Baker, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, November 25, 2016 at the age of 77 years.

BROWN

May 22nd, 1929

– November 21st, 2016

ANNE PATRICIA BROWN, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Edith Cavell Care Centre on Monday, November 21st, 2016 at the age of 87 years.

She is the loving mother of William (Hui) Brown, Fiona Brown (Brian Kinnee) and Elisabeth (David) Mayne and grandmother of Katrina, Stephanie, Matthew and Justin.

Anne was predeceased by her husband Mac, an infant son, her parents and a sister.

Anne was born in Oldbury, England in 1929. She married Mac in the winter of 1957 before immigrating to Canada in 1958 and settling in Edmonton. Anne and Mac then moved to Lethbridge in 1961. Anne was active in Girl Guides as a leader and commissioner for 30 years before becoming a Trefoil and receiving her life membership. She was also active with the Lethbridge Naturalist Society along with volunteering as a natural history instructor in local schools. Anne was involved in the “Take a Break” group at McKillop Church enjoying the crafts and friendship.

Anne had many hobbies from scrapbooking her travels, knitting sweaters for her grandchildren, embroidery (needlework), and many sorts of puzzles. She was also a wonderful baker and was always willing to help with any baking misadventures done by others. Anne was an avid traveler and enjoyed bird watching her way around the world. She also bowled for many years with the Woodpeckers at Capri Bowl.

A Funeral Service will be held at ST. AUGUSTINE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH – 411-11 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Monday, November 28th, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. with Canon Allan McCuaig officiating. Cremation will follow the Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to plant a flower in Mrs. Brown’s memory.


Ruby Coulter

1948 – 2016

Mrs. Ruby Coulter, beloved wife of Mr. Dan Coulter, passed away at the Claresholm General Hospital on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the age of 68 years.

CHARLES “BUD” GLENN

March 31, 1929

to November 24, 2016

BUD GLENN passed away suddenly on Thursday November 24th 2016 at the age of 87 years.

Born on the Family Farm in Craig Alberta, Bud was the eldest child to Madeline and Charles Glenn. He was survived by his five sons and two daughters and their spouses along with many grandchildren, great- grandchildren and numerous other family members.

Bud was surrounded by his friends at Sunnyside Manor and close friends in Coaldale while most of his family wasn’t living close by.

A private family service will be held.


Alice Heynen

1936 – 2016

Mrs. Alice Heynen, beloved wife of Mr. John Heynen, passed into the presence of her Lord on November 20, 2016 at the age of 80 years.

Alice was the youngest of seven children, born in Minitonas, MB on September 22, 1936. She grew up on the family farm in Swan River, MB, then at seventeen, she followed her sister, Evelyn, to Edmonton, AB and finished high school at The Christian Training Institute, now known as Taylor College and Seminary. After graduation, she worked for the RCMP in Edmonton for three years before entering Saint Boniface School of Nursing in Winnipeg, MB where she graduated as an R.N. in 1962. She nursed her first year at the Winnipeg Hospital and then adventurously took a position at the hospital in Whitehorse, YT. It was there, on a riverboat cruise, that she met her husband, John. They married in 1965 and settled in Lethbridge, AB. Alice nursed at the Regional Hospital, Saint Michael’s Hospital, at the Roy and Hunt Clinics, as well as in Coaldale until 1974, when her daughter, Carol, was born, followed two years later, by her son Christopher. She stayed at home to raise her family, but returned to nursing in 1980, first for the Lethbridge Health Unit, teaching prenatal classes, but eventually serving in geriatrics at a variety of care homes in Lethbridge and Vulcan until her retirement in 2007. Alice loved nursing and worked as an R.N. for a total of 39 years. In retirement, she continued to extend caregiving and show hospitality by visiting the elderly, and sharing homemade pies, muffins, and applesauce with many friends and neighbours. She had a strong faith in God, committing her life to Christ at the age of ten. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Lethbridge since 1966. She enjoyed many friends while living in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Whitehorse, and Lethbridge. Her family, including nieces and nephews, were a wonderful part of her life, staying in touch through the years by faithfully remembering birthdays.

She was predeceased by her parents: Gottfried and Henrietta; and her siblings: Mary Henkelman, Erwin Henkelman, Tillie Retig, Martha Heiman, and Evelyn Dykau. Left to mourn are her loving husband: John; daughter: Carol of Abbotsford, BC; son: Christopher (& Yael Greenfeld), and grandson Isaac of Squamish, BC; brother: Fred (& Ruth) Henkelman of Kelowna, BC; sister-in-law: Adina Henkelman of Winnipeg MB; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 1614 5 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB, on November 30 at 1:00pm with Pastor Bruce Martin, officiating.

ROBERT “BOB” KLUCZNY, beloved husband of Patricia Kluczny, of Lethbridge, passed away at the St. Michael’s Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit, on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the age of 82 years.

SZENTES

ALEC (Sandor) LOUIE SZENTES passed away peacefully at the age of 76. Al is survived by his wife and best friend of 35 years, Teri Szentes, sons Darcy Szentes, and John Szentes, daughters: April Gulevich, Kim (Trevor) Brassard, Jody Gordon ( special friend Faron), and Lori (Darryl) Anderson. Grandchildren: Tylar Gordon-Shank, Isabella Gordon, Chris (Sara) Szentes, Steven (Chelsea) Szentes, Warren (Wendy), Matea (Brendan), Taelor, Andrew and several great grandchildren. He is survived by his brother John Stuggart and sister Linda Stuggart. Alec was born on October 6, 1940 In Budapest, Hungary before immigrating to Canada in 1951 where he lived briefly in Halifax before making Lethbridge his home. Alec’s professional career was with Agriculture Alberta at the Lethbridge Research Station. Alec was an active member of the Optimist club and Elks club. He was a minor hockey league coach for several years. Al (Papa) loved his family but above all cherished his wife. The Funeral Service will be held at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge, on Monday, November 28 at 11:00 a.m. with the viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. A private family Interment to follow service.
