March 17, 1941 to January 11, 2017

GARRY GEORGE BOWES, beloved husband of Sharon Bowes of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Health Centre Palliative Unit in the early hours of Wednesday, January 11th, 2017 at the age of 75 years after a lengthy battle with Cancer.

Garry is survived by his loving wife Sharon, children Steven (Tracey) of Okotoks, Kristyn (Bob) of Virginia, USA, Rick (Robyn) of Saskatoon and Greg (Kendall) of Lethbridge plus his grandchildren Ashley, Mackenzie, Jackson, Isabelle, Luke, Aubrey, McKinley and Paisley. He was predeceased by his first wife Lois, father George and mother Edna.

Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church – 1818 5th Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta on Saturday, January 14th, 2017 at 2:00 P.M.

A special thank you to the doctors and staff at Jack Ady Cancer Centre, Chinook Regional Hospital staff, Home Care staff and the staff at St. Michael’s Health Centre Palliative Unit.

Peter James Evans Olive Rose Evans

February 20, 1922 – January 3, 2017 June 2, 1923 – January 4, 2017

Peter and Olive, formerly of Medicine Hat, AB, resided in Cranbrook, BC at the time of their passing. They were a wonderful example of perseverance, strength and partnership, and passed away as they had lived – together – having recently celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary.

Both leave to mourn their daughters Bev (Bob) Rempel and Diane (Howard) Pickering, grandchildren Jay Pratte, Jake Pratte, Jodie Pickering (Warren Ford), Wade Pickering and Sean Pickering, great grandson Hunter Ford and nieces and nephews in Canada and overseas.

KARSTEN, Koen (Ken)

Ken (Koen) Karsten of Edmonton, Alberta passed away late Sunday evening January 8th, 2017 at the age of 85. He was a kind and generous man with a big heart who walked his Faith. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Theresa; son, Ron (Madeline); daughter, Brenda (Wayne); 8 grandchildren; and (so far) 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers John and Pete, and sisters Grace, Ann, and Hillary.

Ken was predeceased by his son, Ken, and brothers John, Ralph, and Ted.

A Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Foster and McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street NW, Edmonton. Ken will be buried on Saturday, January 14th, 2017 at Westlawn Cemetery, 16310 Stony Plain Road, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 19010-87 Avenue, Edmonton.

SYBIL SWANSON, of Milk River, beloved wife of the late Bert Swanson, passed away peacefully at the Milk River Health Centre, on Wednesday, January 11th, 2017 at the age of 92 years.

A Funeral Service will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 321 Main Street N.W., Milk River, AB, on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Marion Martin officiating.

Interment will be held in the Milk River Cemetery.
