Gerhard Bron

1961 -2017

For a small moment have I forsaken thee;

On April 1, 2017 Gerhard (Gerald) Eiberdinus Bron of Fort Macleod passed away after a brief illness of cancer at the age of 55. Gerhard is survived by his dear wife Christine (van Ee) of 33 years; his 7 children Jacqueline and fiancé Immanuel Kashihalwa; Leonard; Justin and Amber Bron and their children Dawson and Dakota; Marianne; Gerald and fiancé Janelle Van Huigenbos; Veronica; Jenita. He is also survived by his siblings Peter and Cora Bron; Klasina and Zweer de Bruin; Loys and Aantje Bron; Nelly and Cees Meijering; Johanna and Kees Noordzij; Leendert Bron; Sam and Anneke De Visser; Henri and Petra Van Herk; Lyda and Koos Scherpenisse and his in-laws Glenda Bron; Jane and Jake de Peuter; Anne Siebenga; Jeanette and Martin Slingerland; Gerda and Les McDaniel; John and Caroline vanEe; George and Ritva vanEe; Albert and Joanne vanEe; Arlene and Henry Bakker as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and their families in the Netherlands as well as in Canada He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Johanna Bron; parents-in-laws Jan and Gerritje van Ee and his brother-in-law Wieger Siebenga. Gerhard was born on June 30, 1961 in Koog aan de Zaan, the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1983. Gerhard worked as a farm hand until 1994 when he then moved with his wife and children to work on the mission field in Bolivia. He moved back to Canada where he worked on a small farm he bought. Gerhard was involved in many aspects of the Netherlands Reformed Church. The youth were bound upon his heart. In August of 2014 Gerhard moved to Grand Rapids, MI to study for the ministry until his death. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00-8:00pm on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the FORT MACLEOD NETHERLANDS REFORMED CONGREGATION, 2608-7 Avenue, Fort Macleod, AB. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the LETHBRIDGE NETHERLANDS REFORMED CONGREGATION, Highway 3 & RR8-21-1 (Green Prairie Highway), Lethbridge, AB, with Reverend A.H. HAYNES

November 17, 1932 – March 30, 2017

SHARON FRODSHAM HAYNES beloved wife of the late Theodore (Ted, Moe) Haynes of 59 years, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2017 after battling pancreatic cancer. Her children Ted Jr. Haynes (deceased) (Laurie) of Bow Island, Randall Haynes (Lisa) of Magrath, and Sherri Swing (Mike) of Park City, UT. Her brother, Lowell (deceased)(Lovina) of Calgary. Ted and Sharon have 18 grandchildren (Todd and Levi Haynes) (deceased) and 14 great grandchildren.

Sharon was born November 17, 1932 to James and Nettie Frodsham. Sharon spent her first 12 years on the LDS Church ranch outside of Mountain View. At age 12 Sharon and her family moved to Cardston where she graduated from Cardston High. After high school Sharon attended BYU where she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Home Economics.

Sharon’s teaching career started in Taber, AB where she met her husband Ted Haynes. They were married on August 14, 1956 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Sharon taught Home Economics for 30 years most of those where in Magrath. She influenced many young women during those years by teaching them lifelong homemaking skills. Sharon was a beautiful seamstress and quilt maker.

Sharon was loved by all who knew her and will be fondly remembered for her Christ like love, generosity and many acts of service. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings throughout her life. Her most valued treasure was her family and she was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

A special thanks to the exceptional staff at St Michael’s Palliative Unit for their compassion and care.

The Funeral Service will be held at the CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS Magrath Garden Place Church, 170 N Centre Street, Magrath, on Saturday April 8, 2017 at 1:00pm.

Friends can meet with the family Friday April 7, 2017 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at the Church and Saturday prior to the service from 11:00am to 12:45pm. Interment to follow in the Magrath Cemetery.

JUROSZEK

JOSEPH JUROSZEK, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Anna Juroszek, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1st, 2017 at the age of 80 years.

Besides his loving wife of 54 years, he is the devoted father of Gerry (Rick) Van Luyk, Renita (Dwight) Versteeg, John (Laura) Juroszek, and Theresa (Laurence) Ell, and grandchildren Dixon Van Luyk, Kurtis, Brett and Lindsay Versteeg, Joel Juroszek, Nicole and Dillan Ell. He is also survived by one sister, Stanislawa in Poland. He was predeceased by his parents and 8 siblings in Poland.

Joseph was born in Istebna, Poland February 18th, 1937. He and Anna immigrated to Canada in November 1963 to seek a better life. He became a journeyman insulator and worked in various locations throughout Alberta. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and family get- togethers. We will remember him for his kind-hearted nature and good sense of humor.

Joseph was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. As a family we created wonderful memories that we will cherish forever. We were blessed to have him in our lives and he will be dearly missed. Until we meet again Dad.

A Prayer Vigil will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Wednesday, April 5th, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. with Alice Takacs officiating.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, April 6th, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Lukas Drapal celebrating.

Marjorie Ross

1930 – 2017

Marjorie Elizabeth Ross (Volk), beloved wife of the late John (Jack) Ross, passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge on April 3rd, 2017 at the age of 87 years. She is survived by her sons; John (Kathy) and David (Lori), two grandchildren; Darren (Lanae) and Ryan as well as two great-grandchildren; William and Miranda. Number 9 of 10 siblings, she is survived by sisters Florence Thacker and Francis Wentz; predeceased by siblings John Heck, Frank Heck, Anton Heck, John Volk, Frank Volk, Anna Mary Hurt, and Marvin Volk. She was predeceased by her parents: Andrew and Anna Maria Volk of Burdett, AB. Marjorie graduated as a registered nurse from Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. Subsequently, working in Taber, AB; Powell River, BC; and at Vancouver General and St. Vincent’s hospitals in Vancouver, BC. She married Jack Ross in 1958 and raised her two sons in Lethbridge and on the family ranch in Aden, AB. She was a devoted wife, mother, family member, with many dear friends whom she adored. Marjorie was an accomplished athlete as a child and continued to be involved in many community activities including golf and bowling as well as her ‘Coffee Group’ of more than 40 years. Marjorie loved people and was fascinated with their personal stories and journeys. Marjorie was always kind, with a gentle soul and generous spirit. Her passing has left a hole in our hearts but her life has given us a guide. Her family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at the Chinook Regional Hospital, the nurses and staff of Fairmount Extendicare, the staff of The View, and the nurses and staff at Lethbridge Home Care Services, as well as many family and friends for their extraordinary kindness and generosity through this journey. ROBINSON

LEA MARIE ROBINSON (Lybbert), beloved wife of Dooley Robinson, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the age of 85. Lea was born June 18, 1931, the first child of Melby and Bessie Lybbert. She met Dooley and they married on March 22, 1950. They spent most of their married life living and raising their family on the Robinson farm on the Milk River Ridge. Lea will be missed by her children: Stewart (Carol) Robinson, Shannon (Gene) Kawade, Sharon (Scott) Borland, Scott (Sandy) Robinson; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; siblings: Lois McCoy, John (Lois) Lybbert, David (Marsha) Lybbert, Helen (Dick) Wilde, and Beth O’Donnell. Lea was predeceased by her husband Dooley and granddaughter Gina Zilke. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, TAYLOR STREET CHAPEL, 221 North 400 West, Raymond, Alberta at 12:00 noon. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. before the funeral.

Robert James “Jim” Culver
February 15, 1952 ~ March 31, 2017
It is with broken hearts that we, the family of the late Mr. Robert James “Jim” Culver, beloved husband of Rhonda, announce his passing on Friday, March 31, 2017, at the age of 65 years.  Along with Rhonda, his loving wife of over 42 years, Jim leaves to cherish his memory:  two sons, Randy (Haley) and beloved grandchildren, Sierra and Chase;  Jason (Beth);  siblings, Linda (Willie) Andruschak of Hays, Dianne (Gary) Secrist of Enchant, Joanne (Keith) Olson of Coaldale, Terry (Ken) Franz of Retlaw, Jack (Kathleen) Culver of Sparwood, B.C., Jerry (Daralee) Culver of Medicine Hat, Rocky (Michelle) Culver of Elkford, B.C., Samantha (Randy) Colmer of Sparwood, B.C., Ronda Culver of Lethbridge and Tracey Culver of Surrey, B.C.;  in-laws, Ken (Janet) Whitmore of Taber, Shirley Meier of Hays and Monty (Trudy) Whitmore of Taber.  Jim is also survived by 23 nephews, 30 nieces, 21 great-nephews, 22 great-nieces and 5 great-great-nephews.  He was predeceased by his father, Joe Culver and mother, Thelma Culver.  Jim met and later married Rhonda Whitmore on October 4, 1974.  Together they farmed and owned and operated Culver Construction Ltd. in Retlaw, AB., while raising their two sons.  In 2009, Jim and Rhonda moved to Medicine Hat where he continued to enjoy spending time with his friends at the Royal Canadian Legion in both Vauxhall and Medicine Hat.  Jim loved his family and time spent with his precious grandchildren.  He also always made time for his nieces and nephews whom he held very dear.  Jim’s life will be honoured and his memory cherished without the proceedings of a formal funeral service. The family welcomes friends to visit the house to share memories and stories in the coming days. If friends so desire, memorial donations in Jim’s name may be made directly to the MD of Taber, in support of the Vauxhall Regional Fire Department (printed in the memo section of the cheque), 4900B – 50 Street, Taber, Alberta, T1G 1T2, an organization that was near and dear to Jim’s heart with Culver Construction Ltd. being a major part in the contruction of it.
