Richard Borysewicz

1950 – 2017

Mr. Richard (Rick) Borysewicz passed away on April 26, 2017 at the age of 66 years. Born to Boleslaw and Lola Borysewicz in Hull, England October 11, 1950, Lethbridge was home since 1952. Rick graduated from Catholic Central in which it took him to SAIT where he earned his accomplishment for Parts Man, where he worked in the automotive sector for over 30 years. Rick enjoyed coaching Little League baseball to showing off his classic Impala. Rick was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life. Rick is survived by his sister Helen (daughters Dana and Nina); son Richie (Ashley) and their boys Henrik and Maddox; daughter Jillian (John) and their son Adler. A special mention to Rick’s ex-wife Barbara (Dale) McCaugherty. Bubbles (M.V. Wetherelt) Stutsman

June 25, 1921 – April 21, 2017

Bubbles peacefully crossed the River on April 21, 2017 at the age of 95 years. Mom was a generous and loving person. There wasn’t much she couldn’t or didn’t do. She will be sorely missed by her daughter Tanis (Pat) Downey; grandson Colin (Lisa) Stutsman; daughter-in-law Maureen (John) McCrady as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Jess; son Donald and all of her siblings, 5 sisters and 1 brother. No formal service will be held as per her request. There will be a family gathering at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. COREMAN

Cornelius “Neil” Coreman, passed away recently. He always called Stavely home but he is more recently of Carmangay. Neil was always a country boy. He loved his cattle and his land. Neil will be missed by his friends and family.

Annie Danyluk

1924 – 2017

It is with sadness and gentle relief that the family of Annie Danyluk announce her passing on April 25th after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s.

Annie was born in Czechoslovakia and immigrated to Canada with her family as a young teen. In 1956 Annie married William (Bill) Yalowega and they raised their family and farmed in the Iron Springs area for many years Mom’s years on the farm included hoeing sugar beets, taking care of a huge garden, raising her children, cooking and baking, along with community and church involvement.

Ten years after Bill’s passing, mom met and married (1977) Eugene Danyluk and moved to Lethbridge. Gardening and plants continued to be a passion of moms along with camping, traveling, playing cards, dancing and welcoming family and friends into her home.

Annie is survived by her 3 daughters; Gladys, Jayne (Colin) Sandra (Bob); 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 sister Teresa and extended family members.

Mom was predeceased by her husbands Bill and Eugene, son Nick, 3 sisters and 2 sons-in-law’s.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29th, 2017 PARK MEADOWS BAPTIST CHURCH, 2011 – 15 Avenue N, Lethbridge, AB with Pastor Lorne officiating. Interment to follow at Archmount Cemetery.

DYKSLAG

Psalm 48:14: “For this God is our God forever and ever; He will be our Guide even to the end.”

Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, the Lord in His infinite wisdom took HILDA DYKSLAG home on Sunday, April 23rd, 2017.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, John, her children Margaret (Richard), John (Sadie), Leroy (Joann), Wendy (Buzz) and Patty, her 16 grandchildren and 21 great- grandchildren, as well as six siblings and 12 siblings-in-law. She was predeceased by her parents Jelle and Grietje Rypstra, parents-in-law Jan and Marchien Dykslag, ten brothers and sisters and 14 siblings-in-law.

Mom was happiest when surrounded by her family. She loved knitting, gardening, puzzling and baking ‘boterkoek.’ She was a strong woman; a quiet and gentle spirit who will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

A Funeral Service will be held at TRINITY REFORMED CHURCH – 1100 40th Avenue North, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, April 29th, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Wybren Oord officiating.

MABEL JOHANNA GERDING

We are sad to announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Mabel Johanna Gerding (Monner, Nee: Peterson), on Good Friday, April 14, 2017, at the age of 94 years (or as she would say “a hell of an age”.

She lived a full life, filled with laughter, stubbornness and generosity. Never one to hold back, she always spoke her mind regardless of the results, but never complained. Even to the end, always stating “what’s there to complain about, I’ve got a place to park my ass, a window to look at and they aren’t going to kick me out!”

Survived by daughter Reta (Dale) Pickering, son-in-law Tim Burk, granddaughter Candice Moore and grandson Scott Pickering. She was predeceased by her husband Wayne Monner, toddler son Wayne and daughter Gwen Burk.

Thank you to the wonderful staff of Vulcan Extendicare where she has resided for the past 4 and a half years for the care and love they have shown her.

No service will be held, however, inurnment of her ashes at O’Perfect Peace Cemetery, Milo, Alberta will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Vulcan Extendicare Association, Box 810, Vulcan, AB T0L 2B0.

Mrs. Elsie Mae Hurst of Coaldale, AB passed away peacefully on April 24, 2017 at the age of 70 years. Elsie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband Dennis, children Denise (Carl) Claassen, Terri-Ann (Garry) Miller, Dennis W. Hurst, and Darcy Hurst (Terry Tyrer), 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 1 sister, numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. KUZ

STELLA KUZ, of Lethbridge, wife of the late Mike Kuz, passed away peacefully at the Edith Cavell Care Centre on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017 at the age of 84 years.

Stella is survived by her son Randy (Virginia) Kuz and their son Austin, grandsons Ryan Waslovich and his son Braiden and Daniel Waslovich. Stella is also survived by her sisters Mary, Ruth (Floyd), Jeanette, Katie (Rod), Annie, in-laws Shirley, Tony (Lil), Bill and her many nieces and nephews. Stella was predeceased by her parents John and Helen, husband Mike, beloved daughter Yvonne, brothers Bill, Steve, Hilory and Sam, sister Irene and in-laws Henry, Marie, Mary, Lorraine and Bob.

Stella grew up in a large family on the farm near Glendon, Alberta. As the eldest daughter, she was very dedicated to helping her parents and caring for her brothers and sisters. After moving to Edmonton, she married her husband Mike, and together they owned and operated hotels while raising their family. After settling in Lethbridge, Stella enjoyed socializing and met many good friends through her bowling league, crib club and Italian Canadian Club. She and Mike enjoyed travelling with friends and family and especially loved when she could entertain guests in their home. She always made everyone feel welcomed and spoiled them with her fantastic meals and baking. Stella was the most kind-hearted and generous person who would do anything for you. The devotion and caring nature she showed as a young girl remained with her throughout her life. Stella loved her family deeply and adored her children and grandchildren. She will be missed, but be forever in our hearts.

McCREADY

BRIAN DOUGLAS McCREADY of Lethbridge, born April 8, 1945, passed away at the age of 72 on April 20, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Orla, and his daughter Michelle with grandchildren Jacob, Jazlyn and Johnny and Brian and Orla’s son Michael and wife Gail with granddaughters Mikaela, Gabrielle, Marissa, Gracie and Meghan. Also his three younger brothers David, Bill and Gary. Brian was an avid golfer and passed doing what he loved. MYERS

Robert Keith “Bob” Myers, age 61, formerly of Lethbridge, passed away in his home surrounded by his family, on Sunday, April 23, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife Joanne, daughter Amber (Yuji), son Trevor (Amanda) and sister, Deborah; her daughters Brianne (Ben) and Tami (Tom). Predeceased by is parents, Keith and Evelyn Myers.

He was a graduate of Winston Churchill High School in 1973 and attended the University of Lethbridge with studies in Economics.

Bob worked for ATCO Gas for 35 years. For most of his life, Bob was an athlete and enjoyed weightlifting, running, and racquetball. He was an avid reader and loved film and TV as well. Bob was particularly passionate about woodworking however, creating many beautiful pieces and taking great pride in his handyman skill and his ability to fix anything. More than anything else Bob was passionate about his family and expressed his love easily and without reservation. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks for the help and care given by Dr. Charlene Dunn, Dr. Douglas Bosch, Dr. Paul LeBlanc, Rockyview Hospital staff and Palliative Home Care.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Highwood Lutheran Church, 419 Northmount Drive NW, Calgary, AB T2K 3H7. Reception will follow.

Interment will be at Archmount Cemetery in Lethbridge, Monday, May 1st, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.

KUMAR NARAIN, beloved husband of Ramdassia Narain of Lethbridge, passed away at the St. Michael’s Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the age of 91 years.

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our darling beloved father.

He was the husband of Ramdasia (Dassy), father of Mrs. Ahilya Ganesh (Jaikarran Ganesh, deceased), Dr. Kishan Narine (Dr. Astrid De Boeck) and Mrs. Sina Umadat (Mr. Indrajit Umadat), grandfather of Ms. Seema Ganesh, Dr. Vishal Ganesh, Dr. Nirvani Umadat, Mr. Vivake Umadat, Ms. Seema Narine, Ms. Kirti Narine and Nand Narine and great- grandfather of Ellitsa, Jai & Alex. He was pre-deceased by four brothers and two sisters.

Kumar was born in British Guyana, South America where he practiced his trade as a gold smith and owned his jewelry business. He immigrated to Canada in 1981 and practiced his trade at Fosters Jewelry in Lethbridge, where he was a gold smith and a diamond setter for 36 years. He also employed his skills at Phil’s and Ward’s jewelry stores. Kumar was a gifted and skilled craftsman who took great pride in his work. He loved people and always had a smile for everyone, even strangers. He had a gentle personality with a calming effect on all those who spoke to him and his advice was always sought and valued. His pride and joy was his family. Our love for him is immeasurable. His joy in life and his love for us will forever be the souvenirs in our hearts, that of his nieces, nephews and extended family.

JOHN JACOB SMIT JR.

John Jacob Smit Jr. of Fort Macleod, Alberta passed away at the Community Support Beds in Fort Macleod on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the age of 83.

John was born on March 25, 1934 at Fort Macleod, the eldest son of John and Grace Smit. He attended the Hollandale and Granum schools. Afterwards began farming with his brothers northeast of Fort Macleod until his passing.

John is survived by his siblings Kornie Smit, Jake Smit, Thelma Deurloo and Lena Caldwell. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces: Grant (Jeanette) Deurloo, Jim (Jackie) Deurloo, Sherri Deurloo, Lori (John) Van Eck, Sue (Neal) Konynenbelt, Alan Caldwell, Steven Caldwell (Gina Griffiths), Ken (Esther) Smit and Sharon (Lyndon) Dyck. Also 12 great nephew and nieces and one great-great niece.

John was predeceased by his parents John and Grace Smit, his sister-in-law Rita Smit, brother-in-law Ron Caldwell and two great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., On Monday May 1, 2017 at the Granum Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Henry Veldboom officiating. There will be a private family interment at the Granum Christian Reformed Church cemetery.

STURROCK

BARBARA JEAN STURROCK, beloved wife of the late George Sturrock of Coaldale, passed away peacefully at the Coaldale Health Care Centre on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the age of 97 years.

Barb will be forever missed by her children Jack (Marjorie) Sturrock of Coaldale, Judy Mezerecky of Calgary, and Marnie Wilkins (Don Perry) of Coaldale as well as five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband George, grandson Kevin Sturrock, parents William and Isobel Davidson and all five of her siblings and their spouses.

Barbara was born east of Olds, on February 15, 1920. She and George moved to Coaldale in 1951. She loved softball, curling, bowling, camping, reading, crafting, cards and anything involving more people. She worked at the Lethbridge Municipal Hospital for 23 years. Since suffering a stroke in 1997, Barb has resided at the CHCC where, until his passing, in 2005, George helped her play crib every day. May their 29 hands be many in their final reunion.

We would like to thank all the staff at the Coaldale Health Care Centre for all their loving care over the years.

A Graveside Service will be held at COALDALE COMMUNITY CEMETERY.
