1921 – LORNA EARL – 2017

Lorna Earl of Medicine Hat passed away on Tuesday, July 11th, 2017 at the age of 95 years. Lorna leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Hal (Susan) Lust of Strathmore and Barry (Chris) Lust of Sylvan Lake; eight grandchildren, Tracey Basaraba, Debbie Basaraba, Denise Basaraba, Craig Lust, Roberta Lust, Jolene Lust, Deanna (Clarence) Kooistra and Bonnie Gilmore; as well as numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Lorna was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Martha Seitz; one daughter Ruby Basaraba; one grandson, Brett Lust; one granddaughter, Lisa Basaraba; and four sisters, Helen Aman, Freida Deering, Ida Chambers and Eva Seitz. Lorna was born on December 14th, 1921 in Elkwater, Alberta. She worked for McDonald’s Consolidated in Lethbridge for many years. She was a former member of the Pemmican Club and the Sweet Adeline’s in Lethbridge and the singing group, Mad Hatters, in Medicine Hat. Lorna took great pride in her grandkids and loved spending time with family. Gardening was one of her passions over the years. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Thursday, July 27th, 2017 from 12 noon until 12:55 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL on Thursday, July 27th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Gary W. Goran officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

ANDERSON

DOREEN VIVIAN LARSON ANDERSON, beloved wife of Reid C. Anderson, passed away in Lethbridge, Alberta July 18, 2017 at the age of 90 years. She was born a sheep-rancher’s daughter, in Medicine Hat, Alberta December 16, 1926. Her childhood years were spent happily with six sisters and one brother. Doreen and Reid met in Calgary while Reid was serving in the RCAF. After their marriage July 26, 1946, they started their life together in the New Dayton area where they farmed until their retirement in 2002. She loved cooking, cleaning, gardening, sewing, good music, friends and family. She served others and the Lord faithfully in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had a great love for the Lord and faith in his promises to us, fasting and praying, often weekly, throughout her life. She loved to study the scriptures daily. Her home was always beautifully decorated and spotless, a welcome haven for all who stopped in. She accepted and loved everyone without reservation. In winter months, Doreen and Reid loved their ‘Snowbird’ trips south into California. She was an avid writer, keeping a daily journal most of her adult life and composing many delightful poems. In her later years, she painstakingly compiled a history of her life for her family to enjoy. She was predeceased by her parents, three sisters, two brothers, her son Wayne, a grandson, a great- grandson and a great-great granddaughter. She is survived by her sweetheart Reid, her husband of nearly 71 years, her children: Linda (Grant) Fyfe, Shirley (Pat) Asplund, Keith (Sue) Anderson, Diane (Ken) Linteris, Alan (Janice) Anderson, a daughter-in-law Elaine Anderson Cooper, 34 grandchildren, 94 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and three sisters. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday July 22, 2017 at 1.00 p.m. at the CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, 10th Avenue Chapel, 1912 10 Ave S, Lethbridge. Interment to follow at the Stirling Cemetery. Friends are welcome to meet with the family on Friday July 21, 2017 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at SALMON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 433 Stubb Ross Road South, Lethbridge.

CORNISH

TERRY CORNISH, beloved husband of Glenda Cornish (nee Shantz) of Cardston, AB, passed away on July 19, 2017 at the age of 68.

Terry is survived by wife Glenda, son Chris Cornish, daughter Shannon Brooker and son-in-law, Jeff Brooker. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Mackenzie and Russell Brooker.

Terry is survived by sisters Caryl Salins & Karen (Ron) Giles and brother Bob (Ellen) Cornish all of Airdrie. He is also survived by numerous nieces and their children.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the CARDSTON ALBERTA STAKE CENTRE – 338 5 Avenue East, Cardston, AB on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 12:00 P.M.

A 2nd Celebration of Life will be held at the AIRDRIE TRAILER SALES ARENA – 10016 Twp Rd 274, Airdrie, AB on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 2:00 P.M.

HNATKOWSKI

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of TERRY LYNN HNATKOWSKI, at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday July 17, 2017 at the age of 65.

Terry will be forever missed by her husband Walter, daughters Brandie and Kylie Hnatkowski, brother Randy (Diane) Duffy and sister Colleen (Gerry) Klinkhammer. She will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Terry was the glue that kept the family together with her kind and generous heart.

JOAN (JAMES) CHRISTENSEN

JOAN PATRICIA CHRISTENSEN, 65, of Lethbridge, AB, went to be with her Lord on July 7, 2017. She was a wonderful wife, loving Mother, special Grandma, and dear friend. Joan passed away suddenly and peacefully in her sleep. She will be truly missed. Joan was born September 1, 1951, and was one of seven children born to George and Mary James. She married the love of her life Robert in Lethbridge, AB, on June 17, 1977. Joan was well known in her community and a passionate member of The Miz City Church. She raised four children and was a proud homemaker. Joan possessed a true fondness for life, a love and concern for many, and was an incredible friend to all. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. After her children had grown, Joan’s true devotion were her dear grandchildren. Joan is the beloved wife of Robert Christensen, mother of Dennis (Miranda), Jennifer (Kevin), Mandy, and Patricia (Robert). Her pride and joy, were her grandchildren – she loved seeing all of their successes and achievements: Alex, Sean, Conroy, Gabriel, Noah, Isaiah, Lucas, Matthew, Mya, Oliver, Arjan, and Trinity. Joan is survived by her loving sisters Lil “Babe” Bolokoski, Dianne (Brian) Knight, brother Jack (Ruth) James, sisters-in-law Kerri (Ross) Potvin, Cindy (Gordon) Rombough, brother-in-law Ken (Katie) Christensen, and many nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her parents George and Mary James, her sisters Bet (Mack) Westwood, and Marie (Ted) Pitt, her brother Fred (Rita) James, her sister-in-law Karen Brown, and her brother-in-law Bill (Donna) Christensen. A memorial celebration of Joan’s life will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday July 22, 2017, at THE MIZ CITY CHURCH, 502 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB.
