BULL CHILD

March 17, 1992 – July 13, 2017

TAYLAN BULL CHILD, beloved son of Leslie (Kaishi) Bull Child of Lethbridge, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 13th, 2017 at the age of 25 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at STREETS ALIVE, on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. followed by a Burial at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Blood Reserve, AB.

CROW SPREADS HIS WINGS

WAYLON JAMES CROW SPREADS HIS WINGS “Pooktsiitis” – (Little Tree) passed away at home on July 18, 2017 at the age of 22 years. He was born on January 3, 1995 in Fort Macleod, AB.

Waylon is survived by his parents, Lester & Sherry Crow Spreads His Wings; grandparents Rosie (Marty) Reyes, Nick Rabbit, Corolla Calf Robe & Alfred Standing Alone; brothers Lester Jr (Camryn), Sam (Marcia), Harlin (Jody), Cody Crow, sisters Summer Dawn (Tyler), Crystal Annie, Amy Jo (Loren Jr) Crow, Shayla (Marvin) Big Sorrel Horse, and Kelly (Homer) Rabbit; numerous nieces and nephews here in Canada and the United States.

Waylon was the oldest son of Lester & Sherry; his education was at the Stand Off Elementary School, Tatsikiisaapo’p Middle School, Kainai High School, Cross Roads Campus and was in the Class of 2013 at F.P. Walshe High School.

He was a cross country and long distance runner; also a drummer, helper and fireman at the Morris Crow Piercing Sundance numerous years. He played hockey, basketball, badminton and volleyball for various teams; also participated in the youth rodeo and track and field teams on the reserve and off reserve schools. Waylon helped the Horn Society alongside his uncles Newton & Chucky Bull Shields.

Waylon won numerous awards for his athletics- including 8 consecutive 1st place titles for the Bull Horn Coulee Run in his division.

Waylon also attended the adolescent treatment centre and was recognized for his hard work and dedication to the program. The workers there loved his accomplishment while he was there.

Waylon was predeceased by his grandmas Elizabeth Eagle Speaker & Lillian Bull Shields; great uncle George (Emma) Many Feathers; brothers Dwayne & Colin Boy Chief; uncle Marvin Calf Robe; aunties Brenda and Shirley Big Sorrel Horse; cousins Toni Morning Bird, Shawn Eagle Speaker, and Vanessa Rabbit.

A Family Service will be at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Tuesday, July 25 at 5:00 p.m. followed by the Wake Service at the Old Saipoyi Gym, Stand Off from 7:00 p.m. all night. The Funeral Service will be at the Old Saipoyi Gym on Wednesday, July 26 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.

It is with great sadness but, quiet relief, that we announce the passing into glory of MATHYSJE “MATTIE” DYKSTRA (nee Pater), beloved wife of Glenn, on July 20th 2017 in her home at Legacy Lodge at the age of 88 years.

ENSIGN

RAYMOND ENSIGN, loving husband of Wendy (nee Casson), dad to Cass and Bill (Lindsay) Scales and grampy to Reese and Austin, passed away suddenly in his home, on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the age of 64 years.

Ray will be dearly missed by his brother Wayne, sister Faye, numerous nieces and nephews including Leanna, Micheal and Robin; Wendy’s brothers and sisters, and their families; and close family friend Anne Kanyo.

Ray is predeceased by his parents, Wendy’s parents, sisters Ellie, Mary, and Gloria, brother-in-law Ray Hendy, and sister-in-law Lorraine Conley.

Although Reese once pointed out that Grampy is only one letter from grumpy, she will always remember him with the ‘a’, and he will always be Captain Austin’s Commander.

Ray was born July 14th, 1953 in Carmangay, Alberta to Eugene and Clara Ensign. Growing up, he lived in various communities in Southern Alberta, eventually settling in Lethbridge. Ray enjoyed being a delivery truck driver for several years. After suffering a back injury in 1983, Ray discovered his calling as a locksmith for Active Lock & Safe. He was very proud of the skills he developed, and the service he provided. Ray enjoyed the challenges his profession provided him. There wasn’t a lock he couldn’t open, or a key he couldn’t cut.

A Come and Go Reception will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Charles “Ed” French, beloved husband of Faye French, passed away in Cardston on Friday July 21, 2017 at the age of 91 years. GROSS

Christian “Chris” Gross of the Greenwood Colony passed away at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on July 22, 2017 at the age of 68 years, after a lengthy illness.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years Emma as well as his daughter Lillian. He was an active contributing member of the Colony in various capacities, as an electrician for 30 plus years and as a beef herd manager in his earlier years. He was always willing to help anyone when he could until poor health limited his ability to do so.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday July 25, 2017 at the Greenwood Colony.

Sandra Jean Schnarr, daughter of Alfred “Pat” and Jenny (Barr) Schnarr, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2017 at the Fort Macleod Community Support Beds.

Sandra was born May 9, 1941 and is survived by her younger brother Brian Schnarr and the extended family of Barr Cousins, and Tracy and Jean Schnarr.

CHERRYL LEE “CHERRI” WRIGHT beloved wife of the late Edwin Bruce Wright passed away peacefully on Thursday July 20, 2017 at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital at the age of 61.

Friends may meet the family on Friday ONLY, July 28th at the Legacy Funeral Home in Cardston from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Temple Street Chapel in Cardston, on Saturday, July 29th, at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in the Leavitt Cemetery.
