BOYES

JOHN PETER BOYES, beloved husband of Nancy Boyes passed away on Sunday, August 27th, two days before his 80th birthday. John was born in Lanarkshire, Scotland, the only child of Bridget and John Boyes. He married Nancy in July 1958 and together they had seven children. John was the loving father of Gerard, Thomas, Frances, Dominic, Peter, Allison (Jeff Vucurevich) and Lee. He has five grandchildren, Scot, Calum, Clark, Brae and Tavish. John and Nancy immigrated to Canada in 1975 spending 25 years in Regina Saskatchewan where he worked as a Heavy Duty Mechanic. In 1996 John retired from Saskatchewan Power and he and Nancy moved to Lethbridge. John continued to work part time at Charlton Hill as he always liked to keep busy. John was a man of strong faith, always involved in his church and helping others. His humour and good nature will be remembered and cherished by family and friends who loved him dearly. He loved spending time with his grandsons, golfing, Scottish Country Dancing, traveling and was known for his meticulous attention to everything he owned, especially his car and RV. A Prayer Service will be held at ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 -12 Avenue South, Lethbridge on Monday, September 4, 2017 at 7:00 PM. A Memorial Mass will be held at ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405-12 Avenue South, Lethbridge on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 10:00 AM with Reverend Kevin Tumback Celebrant. MARY ANN GLADYS HANSEN, born December 26, 1940 in Paris Ontario, passed away on February 11, 2016 in Grande Prairie, Alberta at the age of 75 years. Beloved wife of the late Ralph Hansen and mother of Lloyd (Linda) Hansen, and Michael (Paulette) Hansen.

HINMAN

Scott Hinman, beloved husband of Kathryn Hinman of Calgary, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017 at the age of 66 years. Scott was a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Calgary from 1983-2016, and had also been a licensed motor mechanic from 1971-1975. He loved playing and collecting acoustic and electric guitars, rebuilding tube amplifiers, riding and collecting motorcycles, woodworking, walking the paths of Calgary, wildflowers, and cooking. Scott obtained his B.Sc. in 1980 from the University of Lethbridge and his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry in 1983 from the University of Alberta. Scott is survived by his wife Kathryn Hinman; daughters, Pamela Hinman (Garrett Knecht) of Toronto, and Patricia (Derek) Groves of Medicine Hat; son Schuyler Hinman (Landis Golding) of Calgary; brother Philip (Diana) Hinman of Lowbanks, ON; sisters, Narda (Stephen) Dudley of Salt Lake City, UT, and Lori (Larry) Leavitt of Lethbridge, AB; brother-in-law Mark Nelson of Lethbridge, AB; and numerous nephews and nieces. Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. JOHNSON

BOYCE KENDALL JOHNSON passed away on August 18, 2017 in Calgary, AB, at the age of 57.

Boyce was born on March 31, 1960 in Lethbridge, AB, where he lived until moving to Calgary in 2009.

He is survived by his father, Grant; his brother, Arlan; his sisters Ramona (Bruce) Easthope, Jeanelle (Jim) Livingston, and Melanie (Rod) Hillam.

He is missed and loved by all who knew him. Many thanks to the caregivers at Clifton Manor (Unit 600) and Seton Senior Community for all that they did for Boyce and his family over the past several years.

Instead of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to “The Brenda Strafford Foundation” so that others, with the same needs as Boyce, can enjoy the respect and care that is available.

POMAHAC

GUY ANTHONY POMAHAC, of Lethbridge, passed away at the St. Michael’s Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit, on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the age of 61 years, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Guy was a life-long educator, serving for 32 years in the Lethbridge School District, where he taught Science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics), Physical Education, Career and Technology Studies, At-Risk Alternative Education and a variety of Option Programs. He also served as a Faculty Associate in the Faculty of Education at the University of Lethbridge for 3 years from 2006 to 2009. He received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education from the University of Lethbridge, and was working towards his Ph.D. in Education from the University of Calgary. His students will remember him as a teacher who genuinely cared for them, and who recognized their potential and expected their very best efforts. Guy was an internationally recognized athlete. He was a member of Canada’s national judo team, and continued to be an active coach with the Lethbridge Kyodokan Judo Club right up to the time of his passing. He was inducted to both the University of Lethbridge Pronghorn Hall of Fame and the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame. In addition to judo, Guy was passionate about hockey, lacrosse and golf. Guy had deep love of music, from classical to blues, and loved to dance. He was outgoing and had a knack for striking up friendships wherever he went. He touched so many lives as a teacher, an athlete, a coach and a friend, and he will be sorely missed throughout Alberta and beyond. Guy was predeceased by his parents, his brother Greg, and his sister Monica.

His loss will be most deeply felt by his son Joshua and his daughter Taylor.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 – 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB with Father Kevin Tumback, Celebrant.

A Reception and Celebration of Guy’s Life will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the Assumption Church Hall.

WALSHE, PETER

1945 – 2017

Mr. William ‘Peter’ Walshe of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at Extendicare Michener Hill on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the age of 72 years, two days after his birthday. Peter was born on August 25, 1945 at Fort McLeod, Alberta. He worked for twenty-four years in the Financial Industry, retiring his career at AFSC January 1, 2012. Peter married Lila Miller October 3, 1970 in Wainwright, Alberta. Peter will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lila Walshe of Red Deer, Alberta; his children, Tami (Rod) Johnson of Sylvan Lake, Alberta and Sean (Heidee) Walshe of Lethbridge, Alberta; and five grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by his sisters, Margaret Ann Holmes of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Fran (Joseph) McLellan of Devon, Alberta; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Margaret Walshe, a sister, Jean Vandewark and a granddaughter, Christina Walshe. ZIMMER

Sadly we announce the passing of Paul Joseph Zimmer. Paul passed away on August 21, 2017 at the age of 44 years. He is survived by his parents, Rudy and Joan Zimmer, brother Michael (Tina) Zimmer, niece Kaitlynn, nephew Riley and his sister Laurie (Colin) Catonio, nieces Ciana and Natalia all of Lethbridge, Alberta. Paul was an excellent hair stylist for a number of years in both Lethbridge and Calgary. Eventually he hung up his scissors for a position at Westjet in Calgary. He loved his new career and the people he worked with. He enjoyed travelling to many places with his job both professionally and for personal pleasure. He will be greatly missed but his memory will forever live in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul’s name to Ronald McDonald House or The Children’s Hospital. A celebration of life will be held in Calgary at a time and place to be determined.
