BERGEN

PETER BERGEN beloved husband of the late Lona Bergen passed away in the Fort Macleod Community Support Beds Wednesday Dec 20, 2017 at the age of 84 years. Peter is survived by his children Brian(Penny) Bergen, Sean Bergen and Sherri(Stuart) Zoeteman and his Grandchildren: Michael(Tanya) Bergen, Ian(Jen) Bergen, Danette Bergen, Daylan Bergen, Justin(Desiree) Zoeteman, Brittany (Jared) Poytress and his Great Grandchildren: Dulcie, Ainsley, Raelynn, Miley, Ilias, Serenity, Daxton and Holly. Peter is predeceased by his late wife Lona, daughter Lori, granddaughter Sarah, his father John Bergen, his mother Justina Bergen, his brother John Bergen, Twin brother Bill Bergen and brother-in-law Jake Hildebrandt and sister-in-law Martha Bergen. Peter was born in Gnadenthal, Ukraine May 19, 1933. Peter and his family endured many hardships before and during WWII but in 1948 with help from an Uncle and Aunt already in Canada they were able to immigrate to Canada and settled in Coaldale. Peter met Lona Nichols in 1956 and later that year they married and settled in Lethbridge. In 1965 they moved to Granum and then in 1981 settled in Fort Macleod. Peter was a kind hard working family man with an awesome sense of humor. If you asked him what his greatest accomplishment was he would tell you getting his first class journeyman welding ticket but in the next breath he would say his family. He adored his wife Lona of 46 yrs and was very proud of his children, Grandchildren, and Great grandchildren. In the retirement years Peter loved to tinker in his shop and he could fix almost anything. Peter was also known to love his back Alley excursions around town; he truly will be missed. Lydia Carmen

1928 – 2017

Ms. Lydia Carmen of Lethbridge, beloved mother of Rose Gray and Marlene Wisniewski, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the age of 89 years.

Mom was born April 2, 1928 in the Ukraine and immigrated to Canada in June of 1948.

She loved to cook, and her passion was her flowers, her yard full of flowers and her house. She always had small dogs, especially Pomeranians who were her babies. When she retired she travelled and she enjoyed fishing.

She will be sadly missed by all, we love you Mom.

Besides her loving daughters Rose and Marlene, Lydia is survived by her siblings Donna (Doug) Burrows and Nina (Brian) Humphries and sister-in-law, Mary Kowal.

Lydia was predeceased by her parents John and Fedorea Kowal; brothers Nick, John and Alex as well as her beloved granddaughter Carrie.

A Vigil Rites (Prayer Service) will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the HOLY TRINITY ORTHODOX CHURCH, 643 – 13 Street N., Lethbridge, Alberta.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street S., Lethbridge, Alberta. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.

Matilda Loewen

1929 – 2017

Mrs. Matilda Loewen of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Arthur Peter Loewen, passed away at Good Samaritan’s West Highlands on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at the age of 88 years.
