Evert Mulder

1931 – 2017

With sadness, we announce the passing of our dear father, grand & great grandfather, Evert Mulder at the age of 86 years, beloved husband of the late Brandina, on December 27, 2017 at the Bethesda Care Home in Picture Butte. Dad was born on February 7, 1931 in the Netherlands. He immigrated to Canada in 1968. Dad is survived by his dear children Wilma (Willard) Leeuwenburgh, Ed (Marion) Mulder, Woutera (Roy) Vanden Brink; 12 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; step children Elbert (Anneke) Beekman, Coby Vande Ridder (the late Otto), Gerrit (Hetty) Beekman & the late Willy (Jan) Klomp with their children & grandchildren. Evert is also survived by his sister Jannie (Willem), & sister-in-law Paula of the Netherlands. He was predeceased by two sisters; one brother; one brother-in-law and four grandchildren. 1969 – 2017

Pamela Augustine Gerard of Lethbridge, passed away at Edith Cavell Care Centre on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the age of 48 years, with her 2 best friends by her side Randy Taylor and Dave Waterfield. Left behind to mourn her passing are her daughter Samantha Gerard; twin brother Patrick Gerard; sisters Christine Bass Gordy (Bret), Georgina Arichibald, Victoria Wagner (Danny); parents Kathryn Shishkowski (Murray) and Father Alfred Gerard; grandmother Josephine Patterson, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her sister Shelley Armstrong. A visitation service was held on Thursday, December 28, 2017. Cremation entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels. 1962 – 2017

Ms. Sharlene Kondas of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 25, 2017 at the age of 55 years. Sharlene was born in Lethbridge, Alberta to Steve and Josephine Kondas. She was raised in the Coaldale area, where she settled for many years to raise her children; she then resided in Lethbridge for the last ten years of her life. Sharlene is survived by her children, Ashley (Alaa) Abdel Khaliq of Lethbridge, AB., and Adam Payne of Pincher Creek, AB.; grandchildren, Cinderella and Emma Abdel Khaliq of Lethbridge, AB.; brothers, Steven (Dorine) Kondas of Stettler, AB., Terry (Linda) Kondas of Fort Saskatchewan, AB and Greg (Karen) Kondas of Victoria, BC.; nieces, Kassandra Kondas of Seattle, WA., Janine Kondas of Victoria, BC., Hannah Kondas of Stettler, AB., and Carrie Creaser of Edmonton, AB. Ms. Lydia Carmen of Lethbridge, beloved mother of Rose Gray and Marlene Wisniewski, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the age of 89 years.

Marlene “Marty” Lehto

1948 – 2017

Ms. Marlene “Marty” Lehto nee Kliensasser of Coaldale, passed away after a lengthy illness at the St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre, December 21, 2017 at the age of 69 years. “She died with her boots on!!” Marty was born in Lethbridge and grew up in the Barhill area in southern Alberta. She attended Barhill school and later Alberta Beauty School in Lethbridge. She opened her first beauty shop in Milk River in her teenage years and later opened up Style Seekers in the Pass with her friend Carol McGuire. She added bus driver to her resume and enjoyed the company of the students on her bus. Marty loved everything horse and outdoor related. She was involved in many community events and volunteered with many organizations. She took part in 4-H, riding clubs, parades, Rum Runner Days (riding in the Pony Express) and skiing. She also volunteered for all of the events and clubs mentioned as well as Scouts, Girl Guides, and anything else her children or grandchildren were involved in. She enjoyed dancing throughout her lifetime and went dancing whenever she could. Marty is survived by her brother Marvin Lehto; ex-husband William Kliensasser; children Derek (Petra) Friesen, Lolita (Bruce) Webber, Todd (Carolina) Kliensasser; grandchildren: Stephanie (Philipp) Koller, Colton Friesen, Shawn (Tabetha) Webber, Jessica Kaprowski, Karine Kliensasser, Jose Carlos, Angel and William Kliensasser; as well as her great-grandchildren: Roslin and Ada Kaprowski and Acelyn Lerocque. Marty was predeceased by her parents Margaret Lehto nee: Krisher and Ralph Lehto. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street S., Lethbridge, Alberta. MCCUTCHEON

Mr. John Malcom McCutcheon, it is with profound sadness we say farewell to our beloved John who passed away suddenly just before his annual visit to Vancouver for the Christmas Holidays. John was born in Lethbridge on May 22, 1952 to Dr. John Sr. & Helen (nee Furnell) McCutcheon. He was a loving, kind and caring person who put family first in his life. John attended school in Lethbridge, graduated with Honors in Physics from the University of Alberta and earned his masters degree in Nuclear Physics from the University of Toronto. He was an avid reader, loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, camping, and skiing. John had a successful career in Calgary for many years. He found pleasure in upgrading his home and landscaping his yard. After suffering from a severe and crippling depression, John moved back to Lethbridge. Although John was not able to go back to his professional work, he volunteered at the Ability Bottle Depot in North Lethbridge. John regularly visited with his sister Judy in Athabasca, enjoyed holiday dinners with his niece Nicole in Medicine Hat and visited his sisters Linda & Jane in Vancouver. Once every summer he would travel to Bamfield on Vancouver Island where he enjoyed family gatherings and fishing. John is survived by his sisters Jane McCutcheon (Manfred), Judy Stady & Linda Hill (Dan), nieces and nephews Steven Stady (Tonya, Oliver, Glynnis), Nicole Barabe (Stephane), Tim Hill (Brittany), Katie Hill (Ian), Astrid Gradlmiller and Max Gradlmiller. A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Tuesday May 22, 2018 at the SOUTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH – 1011 4 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB. An announcement will be posted in the obituary column again prior to the event.

On Monday, December 25, 2017, Mary Stirling (Marshall) Miller of Milk River, passed away suddenly at the age of 72 years, beloved wife of Kenneth Miller.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 12:00pm and 12:50pm on Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 321 Main Street N. Milk River, Alberta.

A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00pm with Reverend Marion Martin officiating. A private family interment will follow in the Milk River Cemetery.

A. EARL OSTERBERG, of Lethbridge, passed away with his family at his side on Tuesday, December 26th, 2017 at the age of 77 years.

Earl was predeceased by his parents, Louis & Mary Osterberg, one sister, Wava Smith, and his devoted wife of 37 years Edna.

He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Sandra; one son, Ron of Lethbridge, daughters, Linda Osterberg of Calgary and Donna (Steve) Derowin of Victoria, B.C.; one grandson, Jordie Angus of Lethbridge; one brother, Brian (Ann) of Sherwood Park, Alta.

Earl treasured all of his friends, believing each one was special. Earl had a unique gift of making friends with everyone he met. He will be especially missed by his coffee buddies at Tim’s on Scenic Drive. His love of life and people touched the lives of all those who knew him. He will be missed!

He was a proud owner and operator of Earl’s Construction for 26 years. He had a unique sense of humor and loved to tease. Earl loved skiing, snowmobiling, and camping with his family and friends. He was very involved with his children’s sports and other activities, even building a model Volkswagen for his daughter Linda. He had many fun times and memories of traveling to Hawaii, Bali, Cuba, Spain, and enjoyed many cross-country RV trips throughout North America. His last trip was to visit his daughter Donna and son-in-law Steve in Victoria, B.C.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 – Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Saturday, December 30th at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Harold Cooper officiating. A time of fellowship & refreshments will follow. Earl will be interred at Mountain View Cemetery at a later date.

TAJIRI

Tomo (Tom) Tajiri, beloved husband of Tsuyako (Chuck) passed away peacefully at the age of 93 with 3 generations of his family by his side. Tom was born May 2, 1924 to Juro and Shizuka Tajiri in Mission, BC. In the late 1950’s Tom and Chuck moved with their family to the Vauxhall area and purchased land and began his farming operation. Tri-T farms was incorporated just a few years later in 1960. After Tom retired from farming, he moved to Vauxhall and his spare time quickly filled with his grandchildren’s hockey games, piano recitals, and dance competitions. His grandchildren were his life! When time allowed Tom loved to golf and curl. In 1993 he moved with Chuck to Lethbridge where he lived the rest of his life. Tom leaves behind the love of his life and kindergarten sweetheart Chuck Tajiri. He is survived by his sons, Brian and Craig Tajiri and his daughter Gail Ikebuchi, four grandchildren, Bradley Tajiri, Tyler Ikebuchi, Stephanie (Bryan) Reynolds and Stacey (Brandon) Petite, as well as two great grandchildren, Emmitt Reynolds and Leo Tomo Petite. He is also survived by his long time family friend Gary Kirk. Tom was predeceased by his parents, son Gene Tajiri, and his three brothers and sister. A memorial service will be held at the Buddhist Temple of Southern Alberta, 470 40 St. S Lethbridge AB on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 1:00pm, prior to the service there will be an opportunity to meet the family at 12:00pm-12:45pm. Koden and flowers are gratefully declined.
