COYLE

Bob (Robert) Coyle passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 2, 2018, just 18 days shy of 92.

He was predeceased by his wife Betty Coyle in January 2009. His brother Les (Helen) Coyle & Gordon (Jean) Coyle.

Bob is survived by his loving children Pat (Tony Van Luyk), Bryan Coyle (Pam Brown), Mike Coyle and Michelle Pernsky; 6 grandchildren Rob, Steve, Chad, Charlee, Katie and Nikki; 5 great-grandchildren Cody, Shayna, Madison, Mackenzie and Tesla as well as 2 step grandchildren.

At Bob’s request, there will be no funeral service. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Minnie “Mickey” Davids

1919 – 2018

Minnie (Mickey) Davids, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2018. Mickey was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, Hy, and grandson Ryan. Mickey was the beloved Mother of Harvey (Margaret-Rose), Ken (Sheila), Barry (Karen), and Beverly (Harvey) Silverstone, and sister-in-law of Doreen Gorlin (Palm Springs). She was the much-loved Baba/”GG” to her special dividends of 8 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. She was adored by her adopted children Rose Kuizenga and Dienie (Arie) Schalk and families.

Mickey was a true woman of valor. Born in Calgary, she was raised in Detroit and Los Angeles, inspiring her love of the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. Upon her marriage to Hy in 1943, she moved to Lethbridge where she resided until 2011. She was a founding Board member of the Lethbridge YWCA and Family Services, as well as an Honorary Life Member of the Canadian Mental Health Association with over 20 years of service. Mickey was active with Hadassah-Wizo, National Council of Jewish Women and the Lethbridge Beth Israel Synagogue – holding many key positions. She was an inspiration to all. In her sixties, Mickey went back to work, managing the Lethbridge Classique Dancewear store. Moving to Calgary, Mickey enjoyed 7 years at Trinity Lodge, where she is known for her bright smile, positive personality, kind words, sense of humour and love of song. To know Mickey was to love her. She was a gift to us all.

The family wants to thank the staff at Trinity Lodge for their care, especially Emma, Jean, Lydia, Mercy, Mel, and Rosie. Special thanks to Mom’s companions – Gloria, Alma, Mel, Cathy and Mary Anne.

A Funeral will be held at 10:00am on Monday, March 5, at the CALGARY CHEVRA KADISHA, 17818 – 37 Street S.W., Calgary, Alberta. Interment will take place at 1:45pm at the MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY HEBREW SECTION, 1210 Scenic Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta.

Shiva will be observed at Beth Tzedec Synagogue, 1325 Glenmore Trail, SW., Calgary, Alberta, at morning services at 7:45am and at 5:00pm weekdays, followed by evening services at 6:00 pm from Tuesday, March 6, to Sunday morning March 11, 2018.

Peggy Dunn

1926- 2018

Peggy Dunn nee Shearer of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Ken Dunn, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre on Friday, March 2, 2018 at the age of 92 years.

Peggy is survived by her husband Ken and her 6 children: Marilyn Shearer, Darrell (Michelle) Shearer, Don (Lana) Shearer, Moira (Bryan) Warnock, Derrick (Rhonda) Shearer, Darcy (Pam) Shearer; 4 stepchildren: Monte (Irene) Dunn, Pam Dunn, Dawn (Jim) Robson, Ben (Connie) Dunn; 24 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren with one on the way; and 2 great great grandchildren. Peggy is also survived by 2 sisters in England, Joy and Patricia; 1 brother-in-law; 4 sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy was predeceased by Lyle Shearer; brother Derrick Craven; sister Margaret Keeling; her parents Lewis and Elizabeth Craven; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

Peggy was born on January 23, 1926, in Scarborough, England. At age 17, she joined the Women’s Auxiliary Airforce and on her 18th birthday she got her papers and left home to go to war. She was posted to Yorkshire, in the Group 4 Bomber Command with the Halifax Bombers. In 1945, just after her 19th birthday, she met Lyle Shearer, while he was stationed in England. They were married on October 20, 1945. She came to Canada as a war bride in 1946. They resided in Carmangay and then moved to Picture Butte, where they raised a family. After being separated from Lyle, Peggy met Ken in 1974 and shared a life together, marrying in 1987. In 1970, Peggy began work at the Picture Butte post office where she worked until her retirement in 1991. Upon retirement, Peggy and Ken enjoyed family gatherings, camping, travelling to Alaska, hosting family from England, taking day trips to Waterton and spending time with their grandkids. In 2006, they moved to Lethbridge, where they resided until her passing, Peggy’s family meant everything to her and she was a very proud mom. She was a strong and inspiring lady! “Peggy’s Palace” was always open for anyone, anytime!

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Pastor Rodger Halvorsen.

A Private Family Graveside will be held in the Archmount Cemetery.

William “Bill” Kaupp

1953- 2018

Mr. Bill Kaupp of New Dayton, beloved husband of Mrs. Paula Kaupp, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the age of 64 years.

Merle Hein

1928- 2018

Mrs. Merle Alice Hein, loving wife of the late Dr. Stanley Hein and beloved mother of Kent Hein (Jan), Murray Hein and Corliss Robb (Doug), left this life on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the age of 89 years. Also left to mourn her passing are her cherished grandchildren Sterling Hein, Carlen Hein (Kellan), Natalia Phillips (Nathan), Mackenzie Hein and Meran Robb; 2 great granddaughters Iona Phillips and Hannah Gallagher. Merle will be deeply missed by her surviving older sister Jean Sucloy of Vancouver, many nieces and nephews and dear friends from Rocky Mountain House. She was predeceased by her parents Harvie (Happy) and Minna Phillips; her husband of 60 years, Dr. Stanley Hein; and brothers Harvie Phillips and Bobby Phillips. Merle was born in Calmar, Alberta, on August 14, 1928 and lived there until she moved to Edmonton to study nursing at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. Upon graduating, she moved with her new husband to Mayerthorpe and then to settle in Rocky Mountain House. For the next forty years, Merle dedicated her days to supporting Stan and his busy medical practice. She was a stalwart community and Presbyterian church member, an ever-cheerful woman and a reliable person to ask for help. Plenty of food was part of Merle’s generous heart and was shared at her table and at many community events. Merle loved square dancing at least weekly and improved her public speaking at Toastmasters. She will be missed by the many people who grew to love her. We thank and honor those caregivers at St. Therese Villa who have gently cared for her over the past 6 years. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge, AB with Reverend Hugh Jack officiating. A Graveside Service will take place at a later date in Merle’s final resting place in Rocky Mountain House. Donations are gratefully accepted by the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 740 – 4 Ave. S., Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 0N9.
