She worked hard on the farm, milking cows, feeding chickens and weeding the garden. Later she worked for Beneficial Finance, Imperial Optical and Miller & Brown Freight Lines to provide a better life for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a ROCK and never said NO to anything for the kids, she was always last to do something for herself. In 1959 she moved to Lethbridge to finish her schooling at the L.C.I. Dad even taught mom to ride her own motorcycle in half an hour, then they decided to go to Great Falls for a ride. Mom spent a lot of time in Lake Blaine camping and water skiing with the family. She also spent time going to Appleton, Wisconsin to see her sister-in-law Stephanie. Mom loved the vacation that they took to Hawaii and to Monticello, Kentucky where she met some of her relatives that she had never seen. She did a special trip to the Shearer Valley, Shearer Cemetery and the cabin where her father was born which was still standing. In 1980 Mom and Dad purchased Centre Optical.
