Theresa passed peacefully and will be lovingly remembered by husband Clement and their surviving children William, Bernadette (Martin) Smith, Aaron (Connie), Minnie, Quintina (Robert) Adolpho, Samuel, and 22 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by parents William and Annie CrossChild, baby Quinton, brothers Ray, Pat, Fred, Donald and Earl CrossChild, sister Madeline (late Stan Eaglebear), sister in law Dorothy CrossChild. She will be missed by her family from Kainai: Aunties Rachel BigPlume and Mary Steel; siblings Dominic (Kathy), William (Justine), Nadine (Ken Weiss), Ted (late Alberteen), Adeline (late Harvey Sweetgrass), Ross (late Joanne) and Nora (Jim Boudrou) CrossChild. She will also be missed by her Bearchief family from Siksika. Services will be held at Strathmore LDS Chapel (60 Maplewood Dr, Strathmore, AB) on June 23, 2018 with a public viewing from 10-11:45; family viewing from 11:45-12:15; and Funeral Services starting at 12:30pm. Interment at the Siksika Canon Stockton Cemetery at 3pm. Dinner to follow.

BEATON

OLIVE BEATON, of Lethbridge, passed away at St. Michael’s Health Centre on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the age of 71 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Margaret (Doug) Johnson of Edmonton, Clark (Carolyne) Horvath of Logan Lake, BC and James (Amber) Beaton of Lethbridge, as well as her four grandchildren, her sisters, Jean (Lionel) Pelletier and Ruth Mansouri, her brother, Dennis (Lorraine) Beaton, her best friend, Donna Coppieters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Olive was an avid artist who enjoyed life to its fullest, despite her medical conditions. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and many friends.

A Private Family Reception will be held at a later date.

PETE BERTHIAUME

1933 – 2018

Wilfrid J. (Pete) Berthiaume beloved husband of Carol Berthiaume, passed away on June 10, 2018 from bone cancer at the age of 84.

Pete will be remembered as a lover of all sports, especially hockey. Where in which he was involved many years in with the Hockey Hounds. He was a hard working and dedicated man, which was evident in the 2 terms he served in the Airforce and R.C.M.P. in communications. But most importantly, Pete was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Pete is loved, remembered and survived by his wife Carol, 3 sons – Steve, Darrell (Chassidy), Greg (Anna), 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sister Cecile, many nieces and nephews and in-laws.

The family wishes to thank the staff on the 4th floor at L.R.H., your care and compassion was outstanding. To Chris, Brian & Carol at Evergreen Crematorium, our heartfelt thanks for your guidance and care.

GILLIS, Edith 1934 – 2018

Mrs. Edith Aileen Gillis, beloved wife of the late Mr. William ‘Mac’ Gillis of Lethbridge, Alberta passed away, surrounded by her family and friends, in Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, June 18, 2018 at the age of 83 years. Edith’s short time in Red Deer led to some very nice friendships with other residents and staff at Extendicare Michener Hill. Edith completed her schooling in Lethbridge, Alberta and later served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, in many different locations in Canada. After marrying Mac in 1959, she lived in many places including Outlook, Saskatchewan, Hudson’s Hope and Mica Creek, British Columbia, Radisson, Quebec and then returned to Lethbridge, Alberta. Edith was actively involved for fifteen years, as the Akela, with the First Mica Creek Wolf Cub Pack and the Eighteenth Wolf Cub Pack. She was also a long time member of fifty-five years with Laurel Chapter #43, Order of the Eastern Star, and was Worthy Matron five times, a member of Sakkara Temple #115 Daughters of the Nile, and Past President of Iras Nile Club #4 in Lethbridge, Alberta. She was also a member of the General Stewart Branch #4, Royal Canadian Legion and an Honorary Member of Chinook Unit #53, Korean Veteran’s Association of Lethbridge, Alberta. Edith had many friends and sisters of the Chapter, that she thought very highly of and thank them for being there for her. Edith will lovingly be remembered by her sons, Allan of Durham Bridge, New Brunswick and Robbie (Doris) of Red Deer, Alberta; and her grandson, Conrad Flynn. Edith was predeceased by her loving husband, Mac in 2007. Upon the request of Edith, there be no Funeral Service. Instead, her family will be having a Private Gathering to scatter her remains. If desired, Memorial Donations in Edith’s honour may be made directly to a charity of the donor’s choice. We would like to thank all for the welcome and care received during her stay at Extendicare.

Helen Jorgensen

1920 – 2018

Mrs. Helen Jorgensen, beloved wife of the late Mr. Carl Jorgensen passed away peacefully on Friday, June 15, 2018 at the age of 98 years. Helen was born April 6, 1920, daughter of the late Mr. William and Edith Peterson. Helen was the 10th child of a family of twelve. She moved to Canada in 1928 from North Dakota, farming at Twin River, Alberta for a number of years. Helen met the love of her life Carl Jorgensen and they were married in 1939. Helen and Carl raised two sons Fred and Gary; and in 1959 left the family farm, moving to Del Bonita. In 1975 Carl and Helen moved to Lethbridge, following their retirement. Carl passed away in 1982; Helen remained on her own until her passing. Helen volunteered at the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen for many years and at the LSCO, and in 2011 Helen retired from her volunteer work. In 2013 Helen moved to the Black Rock Terrace, where she resided until present. She is survived by her sons Fred and Gary; daughter-in-law Betty; grandchildren Michael (Liisa), Tammy (Eric), Grant (Esther), Ian (Jaye), and Lesley (Chris). Also left to mourn are several great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Reverend Glenda Wert, officiating. With weighty sadness, our family announces the passing of our Lorne. Husband of Carolyn, father to Bob, Janeal, Casey and Heather, adored grandpa to Erin. He was a lover of dogs, an ice cream devotee and a good man. Lorne is predeceased by his cherished daughter, Heather and sister, Marjorie, as well as his parents, Robert and Dorothy. He is forever loved and will always be in our hearts.

Mr. Mon On Chow of Lethbridge, loving husband to Mrs. Din Hoi Chow, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Health Centre on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the age of 91 years. Besides his loving wife Din Hoi, Mon On is survived by his four children: Dickson Chow (Fen), Lisa Lin (Victor), Kayton Chow (Lorraine) of Calgary, and Kit Sum Chow (Jason) of Lethbridge; his six grandchildren: Kenneth (Diana), Amanda, Stephanie (Brandon), Chris, Elaine, and Michael; and two great grandchildren: Eryka and Erynn. Mon On was predeceased by his brother, Sam Chow. Paul Harding

1925 – 2018

Paul Harding passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018 at the age of 93 after less than a year in the capable care of Alberta Health Services and the Edith Cavell Care Centre. He was born on April 9, 1925 in North Sydney Nova Scotia, son of Fred and Mabel Harding. After completing grade twelve, Paul joined the RCAF with surplus air crew recruits, he then joined the army. After the war Paul studied Civil Engineering at Nova Scotia Technical College in Halifax. He graduated in 1952 and worked with the Department of Transport, the City of Lethbridge and the University of Lethbridge. With the support of his loving wife Ina, Paul enjoyed a long healthy and active retirement doing the things he loved, which included skiing, tennis, curling, cycling, skating, table tennis and spending time with his family and friends. In 1953 Paul and Ina were married at First Baptist Church in Calgary. Then they moved to Lethbridge where they raised three children: Linda Broderson (Rick), Alice Paradis (Jean) and Derek (Yolayne Jang). His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren: Dustin Gould (Katrina), Colette Rhodes (Thomas and their son Adam), Michael Paradis (Claudia), Julie Kiew (Justin and their children Eliana and Matteo), Daniel (Christina and their children Benjamin and Lucas), Kimberly, and Trevor. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday June 27, 2018 at the FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 1614-5 Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta with Dr. Bruce Martin, officiating. STEEN

Eveline Lois Steen (nee Archibald) was born August 10, 1932 to Wallace and Myrtle Archibald in Innisfail, AB. She died peacefully on June 14, 2018 in Calgary, AB at the age of 85 years. She is survived by 3 children: Debbie (Joe), Dianne (Eldon), Darrell; 5 grandchildren: Darcy (Beronica), Tyler (Heather), Jennifer (Aaron), Kyla (Patrick), Nicole (Michael); 5 great- grandchildren; 3 brothers: Joe (Diane), Allan (Penny), Larry (Glenda). She is predeceased by her parents and husband. Ev lived a farming life in childhood, youth and half of her adult life before moving to the city. She adjusted well to professional life working for 2 law firms over an 8 year period. One of her employers described her as the ‘salt-of-the-earth’ in that she was a hard-worker, reliable, loyal, and got along with everyone. Her priority in life was always family and she happiest when having large family get-togethers. The last 20 years of her life was afflicted with illness, but this she accepted without complaint or lack of independent effort. A private celebration of life and internment to follow. Memorial tributes may be made directly to Southwood Hospice.

Siebe Ypma
1939 – 2018
Siebe Ypma, beloved husband of Martha Ypma, went to be with his Lord on Monday, June 18, 2018 at the age of 79 years following a battle with cancer. He was a loving, generous, hard-working, family man with a steadfast faith in God.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 – 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, June 24, 2018 between 4:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M.
A private burial service will be held at the Taber Memorial Garden prior to the funeral service.

Besides his loving wife Martha, Siebe is survived by their children Albert (Carol) Ypma of Lacombe and their family Samantha (Joseph) Jeung, Austin and Brett; Florene Ypma of Athabasca and her family Sebastian and Andrea Woudstra; Mary Ann (Laurence) Stassen of Ottawa, Ontario and their family Tegan, Nia and Phoebe; Sid (Brenda) Ypma of Ottawa, Ontario and their family Anna, Abram and Eben. He is also survived by his six siblings Patsy Linker, George (Aafke) Ypma, Jake (Pia) Ypma, Louis (Sheila) Ypma, Liz (George) VandeKuyt, Cathy (Mike) Wind and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Siebe was born on June 11, 1939 in Lollum, Friesland, the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1948. His family immigrated to Ontario, where they resided in Chatham, moving later to Strathroy and then settling in Thunder Bay.
In a visit to the Netherlands, Siebe met the love of his life, Martje “Martha” Visser, a woman he often described as golden. She moved to Canada, and they were married on November 3, 1967. In 1975, Siebe and his family moved to Taber to begin a new farming operation. He farmed with his brother Louis Ypma and his brother-in-law, Mike Wind for many years in the Taber area. Upon “retirement”, he moved into the Town of Taber and began building houses to occupy his time.

It is with deep sadness that the family of Marlon Yellowhorn announce his passing at the Pincher Creek Hospital on June 19, 2018, surrounded by his family. On Friday, June 22, a Prayer Service will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Home (Pincher Creek) at 2:00 pm with Bishop Sidney Black officiating, followed by a one-day Wake at Polly Yellowhorn’s residence in Brocket, commencing at 4:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 23, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Brocket at 1:00 pm with Fr. Roy Jayamaha, Celebrant.
