Lilly Paul

1940 – 2018

Lilly Paul passed away peacefully on Friday, November 23, 2018, at the age of 78 years.

Lilly was born on August 18th, 1940 in Josefstal, Ukraine. She immigrated to Canada with her parents and sister in 1952 and settled in Coaldale. She later went to Ontario for school and training to become a registered nursing assistant. Upon her return to Lethbridge, she met her husband Ewalt at a dance in Lethbridge and they were married in 1959 and settled in Magrath. Here they were both employed and raised their family till their retirement to Lethbridge in 2007. Ewalt’s passing in 2015 was very hard on Lilly but she persevered and with the help of family and friends began to enjoy life once again. Her final year was spent fighting cancer and she ‘ran that tough race’ till the end.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Elaine (Rory) Ross of Lethbridge and son Alan (Kari) Paul of Calgary. Lilly leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Nicholas (Alyssa) Ross with great grandson Brooks; Bradley (Caitlin) Ross; and Nathan, Curtis and Megan Paul. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be deeply missed.

Lilly worked at the Magrath General Hospital for 31 years. She was an active member of the Magrath Golf Club and St. John’s Lutheran Church. In her later years, she enjoyed socializing with the ladies of Horizon Village West and maintained her interests in walking, reading and knitting. She loved her family and could always be counted on to provide encouragement and advice for all matters.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital 4C unit for their professional care and special thanks to family doctor Dr. Donald Gibb for his patience, understanding and concern.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM. on Wednesday, November 28 at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 20 Rocky Mountain Blvd. West in Lethbridge with Pastor Lee Loveridge officiating.

Interment will take place at the family plot in Magrath Cemetery at 2:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Jack Ady Cancer Center, 960 19th Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 1W5.
