After the children moved away from the farm she continued to provide a warm and loving home to others in need. She was a very talented crafter and created many beautiful quilts and knitted items. She was an active member of community groups including the Eastern Star Ladies and Royal Purple. In 2006 it was time to retire and a new home was built in Claresholm where she lived until 2017. She spent the past year at the Claresholm Continuing Care Centre.
