BULLOCK

Kenneth ‘Wayne’ Bullock, passed away quietly at home in Raymond, Alberta on Friday, December 14, 2018.

Wayne was born June 22, 1943 in Lethbridge, Alberta to Glen Curtis Bullock and Anna LaVaun (nee Peterson) Bullock of Raymond, Alberta.

Wayne was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife Karen (nee Tustian), his children; Krista (Anthony) Nai, Karma (Michael) Heninger, Kasson (Renee) Bullock and Kendra (Doug) Tanner, and also 13 grandchildren. He also leaves behind three siblings; Carol (Bill) Bennett, Glenda (Ellis) Stonehacker and Reid (Nancy) Bullock.

Wayne graduated from BYU with a Master’s Degree in Library Science and spent his professional career working for the Calgary Board of Education as a Librarian. He had a passion for history and a love of reading and poetry. He also graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Genealogy. This education sparked a life-long devotion of researching family history and connecting families together in this life and the next. We know he is with those family members now. He also served a two year mission in California teaching the deaf for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

This gentle, quiet man will be loved and missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home, 703 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. or prior to the service on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the church from 12:00 to 12:50 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, TAYLOR STREET CHAPEL, Raymond at 1:00 p.m. with Bishop Wally Tollestrup officiating. Interment will follow in the Temple Hill Cemetery, Raymond.

STROEVE

HERMAN JOHANNES STROEVE, of Picture Butte, beloved husband of Elizabeth Stroeve, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Coaldale Health Centre on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the age of 76 years.

Herman is survived by his three daughters, Theresa (Dino) Pasquotti, Shirley (Ed) Stronks and Dolores (Cam) Wright, his daughter-in-law, Andrea (Trevor Sawa) Stroeve-Sawa and his mother-in-law, Margaret Oslanski. Also left to cherish his memory are his 11 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

He was predeceased by his son, Eddy Stroeve, his parents, John & Anna Stroeve, his siblings, Jerry and Diane and his father-in-law, Charles Oslanski.

The Stroeve family immigrated from Holland in 1956 with 11 brothers and sisters. His youngest sister was born shortly after they came to the beautiful country of Canada. Herman was a young man of 14 years at that time and he enjoyed the many different seasons, mountains and especially the coulees.

On October 23, 1965, Herman married the love of his life, Elizabeth. Together they began their journey. In 1967, the Stroeve boys bought their farm and started their dream. Herman was passionate about his feedlot and growing different crops. His zest for life included his family, his faith, camping in Christina Lake, traveling, hockey, curling, golf, hunting and his love for music.

Herman was very active in the community and served on many committees, such as the Knights of Columbus and Alberta Beef. He also helped build the Sportsplex in 1980/81. Opa loved God’s creations and taught us all to be grateful to live in a beautiful country.

In 2016, Herman began his farewell journey at the Coaldale Health Centre. The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff for their compassionate care given to Opa throughout the last two and a half years.

A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME – 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB. on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. with Deacon Ray & Ellen Wagner officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. CATHERINE’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH – 762 Crescent Avenue, Picture Butte, AB on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Ian Gagne, Celebrant.

Following the Funeral Mass, Herman will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery during a Private Family Graveside Service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Herman’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society, #40, 1202 – 2 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0E3.

TRAVIS, Anna Belle

July 5, 1931 – December 12, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Anna Belle Travis announce her passing on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at the age of 87 years. Anna Belle will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 68 years Alroy; her children: Colleen (Ted), Dale (Jackie), Greg (Karen), Daniel and Leisa (Dwayne); grandchildren: Sherri, Kim (Lee), Scott (Victoria), Emily (Travis), Meagan (Marc), Derek (Krista), Haley (Conan) and Amy (Zach); great-grandchildren: Emma, Lexi, Myah, Addison, Marshall, Lily, Benjamin, Brynn and Charleigh.

Anna Belle was born July 5, 1931 in Barons, Alberta where she lived until she met the love of her life Alroy Travis. They married on February 6, 1950. For many years they resided on their farm south east of Claresholm raising their family. Mom was passionate about farm life, particularly tending livestock. That passion and her love of gardening gave her a great deal of pride in being able to provide for her family. In addition, Mom inherited from her father a lifelong love of horses that she also shared with her children.

After the children moved away from the farm she continued to provide a warm and loving home to others in need. She was a very talented crafter and created many beautiful quilts and knitted items. Mom was also an amazing cook and it made for many wonderful dinners together. Anna Belle drove school bus for 26 years making lifelong connections with the children on her route . She was an active member of community groups including the Eastern Star Ladies and Royal Purple. In 2006 it was time to retire and a new home was built in Claresholm where she lived until 2017. She spent the past year at the Claresholm Continuing Care Centre.

Respecting Anna Belle’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anna Belle’s memory may be made to the Claresholm and District Health Foundation P.O. Box 2638, Claresholm, Alberta T0L 0T0.
