Briegert (Raymond) Geneva Nicole

January 14, 1988 – January 2, 2019

It is with broken hearts that we announce that Geneva Briegert, beloved Daughter of Cindy and Richard Raymond, cherished sister to Dallas passed away peacefully, in her sleep on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the age of 30 years. She is also remembered by her biological father Wilfred, aunts Margerite and Veronica, uncle Carl and many cousins.

She was predeceased by her; uncle Scott James Hoffarth, Grandparents: Heintz & Adina Briegert and Bill & Charlotte Hoffarth.

Evening Prayers will be held At Christ The King Catholic Church on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 7:00 P.M.. Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ The King Catholic Church (344 – 50 Avenue West, Claresholm) on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Philip Lee Presiding. Following the reception, the Interment will held at the Nanton Cemetery at 2:00P.M..

Elvira Dueck

1926 – 2019

Mrs. Elvira Dueck of Coaldale, beloved wife of the late Mr. John J. Dueck, passed away tragically at her home on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the age of 92 years. Elvira was born in Grand Prairie, Alberta on August 19, 1926. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to the Coaldale area, where she attended school in Readymade. She advanced her education in Calgary where she received a teacher’s certificate and taught primary grades at Coaldale School until she married John on July 25, 1948. Together they raised their family and were a farming partnership until 1989. Upon retirement, John and Elvira moved to Coaldale where she has resided ever since. Her unwavering faith in God was lived out in loving commitment to her husband, her children, her church and community. Elvira is survived by her children: Edgar (Ruth) Dueck, Art (Sharon) Dueck, Natalie (Harold) Warkentin, Alvin (Janet) Dueck, Marvin (Shannon Little) Dueck, Mona Dueck, Rod (Lisa Blue) Dueck, Renita (Bill) Hamm, Carl (Jennifer) Dueck and Emery (Sharon) Dueck, and 28 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband of 62 years, Elvira was predeceased by a sister, a brother and a beloved granddaughter Alexis Dueck.

Family and Friends are invited to pay their respects at 7:00pm on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERIVEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, January 11, 2019, at the COALDALE MENNONITE BRETHREN CHURCH, 2114 – 18 Street, Coaldale, Alberta, with Pastors Ryan Dueck and Gary Burke officiating.

GERALD “GERRY” FRANCIS MOORE, beloved husband of Karen Moore, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the age of 57 years.

A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at the ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION BRANCH #4 – 324 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Glenda Wert officiating.

Gerry will be laid to rest at the Bowville Cemetery at a later date.

FLOYD SMITH

It is with the utmost sadness that the Smith family announce the passing of Floyd Marcel Smith at the Lethbridge (Chinook) Regional Hospital on December 30, 2018, surrounded by the care and love of his family.

The Church Service for the late Floyd Marcel Smith will be on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at 10am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, followed by the Wake at his home residence at 1pm.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 9th, 11am at the Piikani Community Hall, followed by the burial at the Smith residence.

HELEN SNOWDEN, beloved wife of the late Winston Snowden, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the age of 86 years.

Russell West

1921 – 2019

Russell Jay West, beloved husband of Hazel West, passed away in Taber on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the age of 97 years. A private burial will be held at the Taber Memorial Garden prior to the memorial service. The Memorial Service to honour Russell will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 – 50 Avenue, Taber on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM. He is survived by his wife Hazel West and sister Janice (nee West) Shaw. Russell will be loved and missed by his children Jean Braun of Taber, Vicki (Marvin) Clifton of Calgary, Robert and Linda (nee Sorgard) West of Taber, Beverly West of Calgary and Bruce and Marion (nee Campbell) West of Lethbridge. Russell’s grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren were precious to him, and he was loved dearly by them. He was predeceased by his parents Curtis and Iona (nee Larson) West of Raymond and other siblings. Russell’s life was well and truly lived. He loved his family and, throughout their lives, made sure they knew it always. He was a true friend who honoured and valued his friendships and was always kind and charitable to others. Russell served his country in World War II and it was while posted in England that he met and married the love of his life, Hazel. Together they worked tirelessly and faithfully to raise their children, create wonderful lives for them and contribute to their community. Russell had many interests: he excelled in sports (basketball, baseball, golf) and loved the outdoors, enjoying many years of fishing and hunting with family and friends. He was a true Alberta son and had a particular love for Waterton and the Rockies.
