ANDRE

EDITH MARGARET (PASOLLI) ANDRE, of Champion, born on May 15, 1927 in Hardieville to the late Maria Pasolli and the late Evaristo Pasolli, passed away at age 91 on Saturday, March 23, 2019 in Lethbridge. Edith was married to the late James Paul Andre.

She was preceded in death by her son, Eugene Englehart; her daughter, Delores Hubbard; her brothers, Livio Pasolli and Constantino Pasolli her sister-in-law, Ruth Pasolli; and her granddaughter, Shirley Andre.

Edith is survived by her daughter, Margaret Jensen and her children, Jennifer Fritz and David Fritz; her son, Gordon Englehart; her daughter-in-law, Wendy Englehart and her children, Stacey (Shaun) Kinniburgh and Denny (Ray) Englehart; her son-in-law, Harry Hubbard and his children, Carey Ann (Daryl) Thompson and Debra (Andy) Rivet; and her brother, Sev Pasolli. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren.

Edith was a dedicated mother and treasured her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a true and loyal friend and helped out those in need. In earlier years, Edith and Jim enjoyed time spent camping and fishing. Edith liked knitting, crocheting, sewing, painting, and gardening. She was very proud of her roses which were second to none

and thrived under her care. We will miss her immensely.

A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 7:00P.M. with Sharon Hagel officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 -13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Albert Sayson celebrating.

RAYMOND MICHAEL EAGLE BEAR, passed away on March 22nd, 2019 in Cardston, AB at the age of 53 years.

Raymond was survived by his wife Kyla; children Waylon Heavy Runner (Vanessa), Elissa “EJ” Heavy Runner (Trevor), Sarah Eagle Bear (Dustin), Allie Healy (Curly), Dalton Eagle Bear (Tyese), Raymond “RJ”, and his baby Alex Eagle Bear. Siblings Carolynn Wells, Russell Wells (Candice), Natalie White Quills (Cody), Cory White Quills (Kim), Jana Day Chief (Danielle), Kelly Day Chief (Gifford), Lisa Red Crow (JB), Dana Wells (Dallas) and Jodi Wells. Grandchildren: Tristan, Kayden, Kiroma, Whitney, Waysen, Tessa, Tahlia and Jaxon.

A Wake Service will be held on Sunday, March 31st at the White Calf Hall, Standoff from 7:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blood Reserve on Monday, April 1st, at 11:00 a.m.

JONES

ALLEN JONES, of Lethbridge, passed away at St. Michael’s Health Centre – Palliative Care Unit on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at the age of 76 years.

Allen is survived by his three siblings: Betty Bullock Stott, David Malcolm Jones (Carol), and Barb Jones (Joe Heric); two nieces, four nephews, numerous great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

Allen was predeceased by his mother Liz (Jones) McMullen of Lethbridge in 1996, maternal grandpa in 1958 and his wife Ethel Jones Fallon in 2005. When he married Ethel in 1978, she had four daughters and the surviving daughters are Marti, Della, Alexa and Rinda as well as their families (all in U.S.A.)

During his lifetime, Allen earned many numerous long time friends and rodeo associates.

Allen worked at Timberline Dude Ranch (Jim Simpson), Buckhorn Dude Ranch, McIntyre Ranch and McGowan Rodeo (Stock Contractor). Thanks to the Wills family of Taber in his younger years.

Allen eventually moved to Montana and met Ethel Olgilvie and they were later married, living in Stevensville, MT, Tucson and Marana, AZ, and then to Fallon, NV. Allen was very much into the sport of rodeo, rodeo bulls, bareback horses, steer wrestling (bull dogging) and bought mules, donkeys, horses and cattle.

Allen loved to B.S. with everybody and made a lot of lasting friendships. He was a wheeler dealer and had a very unique and colourful life. Allen returned to Canada in July 2008.

Cremation is entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home and a Private Family Graveside will be held in the family plot in Mountain View Cemetery at a later date.

Loretta Jones

1918- 2019

Mrs. Loretta M. Jones (Williams), beloved wife of the late Mr. Stanley C. Jones, passed away peacefully, at the Garden Vista in Magrath, Alberta, on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at the age of 100 years. Loretta was born in the Galt Hospital in Lethbridge, Alberta. She was educated in Lethbridge and worked for T. Eaton Co. for 36 years as personal manager Southern Alberta Co-op on payroll. She played bridge and golf and was a member of the Henderson Lake Golf Club. Loretta was also a lifetime member of Southminster United Church and belonged to the Laurel Chapter #43 O.E.S. Loretta is survived by her nieces, nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving husband Stanley C. Jones; parents Mary and John Williams; brother Jim Williams and sisters Dora Roberts, Katherine Chaster and Edna M. Calhoun. A Graveside Service will be celebrated at 11:00AM, on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at the Mountain View Cemetery.

She is also survived by her siblings Rose Beaman, Joan (Elio) Kain, Florence Martens, Bernie (Elsie) Elder and Bill (Monica) Elder: sisters-in-law Evelyn (George) Kopervas, Gloria Martens, Linda (Dennis) Biesel, Sophie Weiss, Michelle LeBlanc and Angela (Ken) Duke; brother-in-Law Ron Martens.
She was predeceased by her parents Bernard and Rose Elder; sibling Sister Helen Elder; father and mother-in-law Abe and Eva Martens; brothers-in-law Charlie Beaman, Menno Martens and Irvin Martens and sister-in-law Tyke Martens.
Emily was born November 16, 1939 at Scott, Saskatchewan and moved with her family to Taber. She married Ernie Martens on May 12, 1958 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Taber. Together Emily and Ernie owned and operated D & E Transport plus a few other oilfield related businesses for fifty years. During this time Emily was a meticulous book keeper, dispatcher and the heart of the company. Emily was a very strong member of the Catholic Church, having spent many years with a variety of Catholic volunteer groups. Most Saturday mornings would be coffee time at Emily’s for the family, we always enjoyed this time with her. She also had an amazing sense of humor, saving and collecting jokes her whole life, she had binders full of them. Emily was also a major fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, we all knew not to call her during a game. In her younger years, she was an avid soft ball player, league bowler and curled for a couple of years. She loved her weekly get together with friends. Emily was generous to many charities and causes in her lifetime.

MERRILL

DONALD “WAYNE” MERRILL, 69, passed away on Sunday, March 24th, 2019. Wayne was born May 2nd, 1949 in Cardston, AB and has been a lifelong resident of Hill Spring, AB. He leaves behind his wife of 45 years Gwen (Fox) Merrill; his children Jenilyn (Andy) Moore, Kristilyn (Joel) Jennings, Douglas, and Donald; also his grandkids, Madison, Kaylee and Carter Jennings.

He is survived by his mother Dorothy, his brothers Phil (Kay), Rodney (Barbara), Kent (Tara); his sister Karen (Rick) Gordon, Carolyn (Larry) Leavitt; and in laws Jim (Brenda) Fox, Douglas (Vivian) Fox, Kathy Darker, Calvin (Trisha) Fox, Sandy (Kim) Jones, Susan (Larry) Gaff; with numerous nieces and nephews.

His life passions were cooking, sport, raising animals, and mechanics. He was happiest spending time with his grandkids and his family.

He is predeceased by his father Donald Merrill; his brother James; his nephew Miles; in laws Douglas and Delila Fox; and brother-in-law Robert Darker.

The burial will be held at the Hill Spring Cemetery on Saturday, March 30th, 2019 at 10 a.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Main Street, Hill Spring, AB at 11:00 a.m.

Peter Turnbull

1925 – 2019

Mr. Peter Turnbull of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Mavis Turnbull, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019 at the age of 93 years. Peter was born on September 1925 in Brechin, Ontario and married Marvis on May of 1955. He was one of the owners and refrigeration mechanics at Lethbridge Refrigeration. After retiring he worked at the Lethbridge Jail. Peter enjoyed his golf and curling. Peter was predeceased by his parents Ethel and William Turnbull along with his brothers and sisters. Peter is survived by his daughter Kelley (Dan) Sorer; 2 sons Russell (Jo-Anne) Turnbull and James Turnbull; his grandchildren Joshua and Lukas Sorer and Makena and Kaija Turnbull and (Jo-Anne’s children Laura Hughes, Crystal Furlong and Katie Coburn); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM, on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta. A Celebration of Peter’s life will be held following the Funeral Service at 3:30PM, at the LOYAL ORDER OF MOOSE, 1401 5 Avenue North, Lethbridge, Alberta. Flowers are gratefully declined.
