BAILIE, PATRICIA ELLEN

(NÉE DOOLAN)

JULY 31, 1925 – APRIL 16, 2019

Pat passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 after struggling with COPD in recent years. Pat was born and raised in New Brigden, AB and had fond memories of her farm-life childhood in spite of growing up in the Depression. She obtained her teaching certificate and while working at the Skiff School, Pat met and married Ted Bailie in 1947. They spent the next years farming and raising four daughters until retiring to Calgary in 1985. She was an active community member and was known for her kind heart and good humour. Pat made friends wherever she went and always had time for a coffee and a chat. Family share many memories of wicked board games followed by homemade pie. Pat was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Pat was predeceased by her husband Ted; her parents Jack and Bessie Doolan; and her siblings Mary, Bill, and Jim. She was the best of friends to her daughters: Maureen (Leonard), Joan, Gail, Shiela (Tom); ten grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the wonderful caring staff at Southwood Intercare Fairview Unit seniors residence who made Pat’s final two years as comfortable as possible. Florence Cave

1928- 2019

Florence “Flossy” Elizabeth Cave of Lethbridge, Alberta, beloved wife of the late Leonard John Cave passed away peacefully on April 25, 2019 at the age of 91 years.

Florence was born March 1, 1928 on the family farm in Coaldale, Alberta. On August 5, 1950 she married Leonard Cave, they spent 57 years together raising their six children, Donna (Terry), Sharon, Brian (Heather), Bruce (Michelle), Boyd and Linda (Dave). She attended Secretary College in Lethbridge, Alberta. Her first job was at Alberta Treasury Branch as a Teller until her marriage to Leonard and full-time job as a wife/mother/grandmother and great-grandmother began. Florence was passionate about gardening, sewing, baking, dancing, yoga and walking. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren: Tara (Curtis), Travis (Jamie), Wesley, Brenda, Jeffery, Lindsay (Graeme), Brad (Clément), Lisa (Sabino), Candace, Sam (Aimee), Sheena (Robert) and six great- grandchildren: Freyja, Aila, Kai, Kaiya, Anthony and Rosalee.

Florence is survived by her brother Clayton Livergood of Lethbridge, Alberta.

She is predeceased by her husband Leonard; daughter Donna; son in law Terry and sister in law Necia Livergood.

A private Family Service will be held.

Ivanka Dimnik

1922 – 2019

Mrs. Ivanka Dimnik of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Anton (Tony) Dimnik, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, April 22, 2019 at the age of 96 years. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM, on Monday, April 29, 2019, at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Father Kevin Tumback celebrant. HARTMAN

PATRICIA ANN HARTMAN, beloved wife of Gerhardt Hartman, of Coaldale, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at the age of 78 years.

Besides her loving husband Gerhardt, Patricia is survived by her children: Shelley (John) Lohues of Coaldale, Juanita Hartman of Lethbridge and Michael (Crystal) Hartman of Lethbridge; 12 grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Melba (Jim) Copithorne of Cochrane, AB, and Beverley (Doug) Dean of Elkford, B.C.; and sisters-in-law Dorothy McKeown and Delores McKeown.

Patricia was predeceased by her parents Florence and Jack McKeown, sister Faith Dahlberg and brothers Patrick, Paul and Lonnard McKeown.

Patricia was born May 29, 1940 in Cut Knife, Saskatchewan. After completing high school, she enrolled in the nursing training program of St. Paul’s School of Nursing in Saskatoon. She graduated in May 1961 and began nursing at St. Paul’s Hospital. She also served at St. Michael’s in Lethbridge, Municipal Hospital in Medicine Hat and later assisted with handicapped children in a school in Sherwood Park, all the while raising three active children.

Patricia used her talents to help with the Girl Guides, the Rosary Guild and was a member of a local Christian Life Community, serving also as district rep on National Council. She was part of a Bridge club in Lethbridge, always ready to serve drinks if she was ‘dummy’.

Relatives and Friends are invited to a Prayer Service at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 7:00 P.M. with Deacon Ray Wagner officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at ST. AMBROSE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1513 – 23rd Avenue, Coaldale on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. with Father Ian Gagne Celebrating.

KACER

VIOLA KACER, beloved mother of Darren, of Lethbridge, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019, at the age of 86 years.

Viola was predeceased by her husband, Joe, on September 25, 2016. They were married in 1961 and farmed in the Cranford area until retiring to Lethbridge in 1995.

Viola will be lovingly remembered by her son Darren, and her sister, Mary Ann.

No formal funeral will be held. Viola will be laid to rest with her husband at a private service.

LAACKMANN

KATHLEEN “FAYE” LAACKMANN, of Milk River, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the age of 79 years.

Faye is survived by her two sons, Brent (Shannon) and their children Brody and Cordell, and Russel (Sherry) and their children Max and Zane, as well as her sisters, Meryl Wedgwood and Josephine (George) Wittorff, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Australia.

She was predeceased by her mother, May Smith, her father, Ernest Bunce and her step-father, Bill Smith.

Faye was born in Derby, Western Australia on October 20, 1939. She was surrounded by a large family, consisting of 13 aunts and uncles and numerous cousins.

She attended school in Derby until the age of 15, at which point she went to work as a Ward Aid for two years before traveling to Perth to complete her Nursing training. Upon completion, she returned to Derby and began work as a Nurse.

In 1959, the Royal Flying Doctor was founded and Faye became a valued member of their crew. She went on many missions to remote stations as a flying paramedic.

In 1962, Faye and her friend, Peggy, got their Visas to go travel and work around the world. Their working holiday took them from England, to Northern Ontario, to Bassano and eventually to Milk River where she continued nursing, got married and raised her family.

She will be missed by her family and many friends and neighbours.

A Celebration of Faye’s Life will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 301 Main Street N.W., Milk River, AB on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Marion Martin officiating.

Johannes Mans

1930- 2019

Mr. Johannes Mans of Picture Butte, beloved husband of Mrs. Huibertje Mans, passed away surrounded by his loving family at Bethesda Care Home on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the age of 88 years. Johannes was born in Aalburg, the Netherlands on December 25, 1930. Together with his family he immigrated to Canada in 1982 and settled in Nobleford area where he farmed and lived till his retirement in 2014. Besides his loving wife Huibertje of 64 years, Johannes is survived by his children Andries (Coby) Mans, Anneke (Henk) Van Ginkel, Arjan (Joanne) Mans, Joost (Caroline) Mans, Henk (Rita) Mans, Toos (Harry) Vandenberg, and Els (Ed) Van Hierden; 39 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren and one sister Mrs. E Van Essen of Picture Butte. Johannes was predeceased by his brother, numerous brothers in-law, and sisters in-law all from the Netherlands. A special thanks to the staff of the Bethesda Care Home for the loving and supporting care they have given our late father. BRENDA NORA PARD

A beautiful soul, just a few words that describe Brenda Pard who passed away unexpectedly on Sunday April 21st, 2019, in Brocket, AB. She was 46 years old. Left to mourn her passing are her two sons Cam (Mariah) Pard, and Jr. Plain Eagle, her mother Mary Pard, as well as many family and friends.

A Prayer Service at Snodgrass Funeral Home (Pincher Creek) will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, May 1, 2019, following by the Wake service to take place at Brenda Pard’s residence in Brocket.

The Funeral Service will be held at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Brocket at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 2, 2019, with Father Roy Jayamaha officiating, followed by the burial at the Piikani Nation Cemetery in Brocket.

NEAL SAKAMOTO

1949 – 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Neal Minoru Sakamoto, of Lethbridge, AB. on April 26, 2019 at the age of 69 years.

He is survived by his brothers, Dwight and Nelson of Lethbridge, AB., sister Michelle, brother in-law Bob and nieces Kiara, Sage and Calista Brown from Calgary, AB.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ken Sakamoto (February 13, 1975) and Amy Sakamoto (September 23, 2007).

Neal was born on June 1, 1949 in Taber, AB. He moved to Lethbridge in 1972 where he resided until his passing.

In keeping with Neal’s final wishes, there will be no public funeral service.

STEWART

DORIS M. STEWART, passed away peacefully in St. Michael’s Health Center surrounded by much of her loving family and friends on Wednesday April 24, 2019 at the age of 73. Her fourth battle with cancer took her home to be with her daughter and other passed loved ones.

She is survived by five children: Brenda McCashland, Brian Stewart, Justin Stewart, Erick Stewart and Karah Kusiek; 27 Grandchildren and 3 Great grandchildren; her brother Don and special friend Hugh Hegle.

Doris is predeceased by her daughter Kami, 1st husband Stanley Stewart, 2nd husband George Jackci, her brother Richard and sister Renee.

Doris was born in Minot, ND graduated from both North Toole County High School in Sunburst MT, and business college in Spokane WA. Together with Stanley Hugh Stewart she lovingly raised her family in Fort Macleod.

Mom was an example of love, patience, acceptance of others, and above all she loved her family. Granny was often in the second hand store finding treasures for herself and her loved ones. She enjoyed bringing family together with enticing baking, including strawberry-rhubarb pies, million Dollar fudge, rice krispie squares, Mardi Gras birthday cake, buckeyes, caramels, and lefsa.

Mom loved genealogy and traveling. Her bags were always packed for an unplanned adventure.

Friends may meet the family on Monday, April 29, 2019 from 10:00 – 10:45 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Forestry Ave Chapel, 4105 Forestry Ave. S. Lethbridge. The funeral will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at 3:00 pm at the Cardston Cemetery.
