DAVID JOHN BLACKMER of Coutts, passed away at the Milk River Health Centre on Sunday April 28, 2019 at the age of 62 years.

Florence Cave

1928- 2019

Florence “Flossy” Elizabeth Cave of Lethbridge, Alberta, beloved wife of the late Leonard John Cave passed away peacefully on April 25, 2019 at the age of 91 years.

Florence was born March 1, 1928 on the family farm in Coaldale, Alberta. On August 5, 1950 she married Leonard Cave, they spent 57 years together raising their six children, Donna (Terry), Sharon, Brian (Heather), Bruce (Michelle), Boyd and Linda (Dave). She attended Secretary College in Lethbridge, Alberta. Her first job was at Alberta Treasury Branch as a Teller until her marriage to Leonard and full-time job as a wife/mother/grandmother and great-grandmother began. Florence was passionate about gardening, sewing, baking, dancing, yoga and walking. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren: Tara (Curtis), Travis (Jamie), Wesley, Brenda, Jeffery, Lindsay (Graeme), Brad (Clément), Lisa (Sabino), Candace, Sam (Aimee), Sheena (Robert) and six great- grandchildren: Freyja, Aila, Kai, Kaiya, Anthony and Rosalee.

Florence is survived by her brother Clayton Livergood of Lethbridge, Alberta.

She is predeceased by her husband Leonard; daughter Donna; son in law Terry and sister in law Necia Livergood.

A private Family Service will be held.

Sam Hofer

1966- 2019

In loving memory of my beloved husband, a father of my children Samuel Michael Hofer, passed away peacefully at his home in the arms of Jesus with his family by his side after a short time battling stomach cancer, on Monday, April 29, 2019 at the age of 52 years. Sam was born on June 26th, 1966 at Stirling, Alberta to Michael & Rebecca Hofer, the seventh of ten children. Sam found the love of his life Sharon from Swift Current, SK. They got married in 1992, at Wolf Creek Colony, and had 6 beautiful children: Brittany, Danielle, Mervin, Braden and two deceased, Samantha and Sonya. Their love was inseparable. Throughout the past year while Sam was sick, we couldn’t be more thankful to his brother Andy for taking him to all his appointments. Sam helped build East Raymond, also helped with the wiring in the buildings and even taught himself to lay some tiles, after a little while he was the tile man, he tiled many many houses. In 1996 they spilt from Wolf Creek and moved to East Raymond Colony. Sam was helper in the cow barn did the dairy work & ranch cows for 28 years, along with his Brother George. They couldn’t be apart, they both loved to work. He was a working man from dust to dawn. His main saying was (das ist die gman) {this is the way of the colony}. In the meantime, he was also a grain cart driver for a couple years, and on the bailer too, man could he flip out those bails I tell ya, there was never a dull moment around Sam. His laughter cheered everyone right up. Sam was a person nothing was too much for him, he was literally a workaholic. He never left a job unfinished and worked till the very end! Sam leaves behind his wife Sharon; two Daughters Brittany, Danielle; two sons Mervin, and Braden, Mother Rebecca of East Raymond; 5 brothers Herb (Ruth) Hofer, Darius (Matilda) Hofer, George (Susie) Hofer, Andy (Barbra) Hofer, Joe (Miriam) Hofer; three sisters (John) Annie Hofer of Red Deer Alberta, Richard (Ruth) Stahl of Grass Range MT, and Herman (Frieda) Decker of Kenaston SK. Also, father-in-law Peter (Annie); brothers-in-law Dan (Michelle) Irma of Alberta, George (Emma), Josh and sisters-in-laws Lana, Linda all of Swift Current SK, and Ruth (Gary) of Lost River. Also, many more cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Sam was predeceased by his two daughters Samantha, Sonya and his father Mike, brother Ben and nephew Joseph Hofer, aunts and uncles and dear cousin Lillian Stahl. Also, his dearest loving mother-in-law Annie P Hofer from (Swift Current, SK) A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM, on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the EAST RAYMOND COLONY. Interment to follow at the East Raymond Cemetery.

LAACKMANN

KATHLEEN “FAYE” LAACKMANN, of Milk River, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the age of 79 years.

Faye is survived by her two sons, Brent (Shannon) and their children Brody and Cordell, and Russel (Sherry) and their children Max and Zane, as well as her sisters, Meryl Wedgwood and Josephine (George) Wittorff, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Australia.

She was predeceased by her mother, May Smith, her father, Ernest Bunce and her step-father, Bill Smith.

Faye was born in Derby, Western Australia on October 20, 1939. She was surrounded by a large family, consisting of 13 aunts and uncles and numerous cousins.

She attended school in Derby until the age of 15, at which point she went to work as a Ward Aid for two years before traveling to Perth to complete her Nursing training. Upon completion, she returned to Derby and began work as a Nurse.

In 1959, the Royal Flying Doctor was founded and Faye became a valued member of their crew. She went on many missions to remote stations as a flying paramedic.

In 1962, Faye and her friend, Peggy, got their Visas to go travel and work around the world. Their working holiday took them from England, to Northern Ontario, to Bassano and eventually to Milk River where she continued nursing, got married and raised her family.

She will be missed by her family and many friends and neighbours.

A Celebration of Faye’s Life will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 301 Main Street N.W., Milk River, AB on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Marion Martin officiating.

POLLEMANS

MARGARET “MAGGIE” POLLEMANS, beloved wife of John Pollemans of Coaldale, passed away at St. Michael’s Health Centre – Palliative Care Unit, on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the age of 65 years.

Besides her husband John, Maggie is survived by her children Adam, Anita (Levi) and Roger; stepchildren Mandy (Ken) and Matt (Tonya); grandchildren Isabella, Triestin, Carter, Keaton, Harlow and Branden; and great-grandson Beckett. She is also survived by David (Susana) Dyck, George (Tina) Dyck, Tina (Cornelius) Remple, Marie (Frank) Froese, Anna (Jake) Remple, Marie Dyck and Eva Dyck.

Maggie was predeceased by her parents Johan and Margaret Dyck and siblings Tina, John, Jake and Isaac.

Maggie was born August 8, 1953 in Cuauhtemoc, México. At age four and a half, Maggie, with her family, pioneered to Belize where she lived until 1981 when Maggie and her children moved to Canada. Maggie started her career in nursing, moving later into massage therapy. John and Maggie met in May 1996 for a picnic. It was so special to them that they celebrated every year thereafter with a picnic in the park. They married in 1997.

Maggie faced her illness much like she faced any challenges in her life; with strength, courage and her unwavering faith in the Lord. Her family and friends will miss finding her in the garden and her stories of her beloved Belize.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

The Funeral Service will be held at COALDALE MENNONITE BRETHREN CHURCH, 2214 – 18 Street, Coaldale, AB, on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Gary Burke officiating.

Interment to follow in the Coaldale Mennonite Cemetery.
