Alma was born March 6, 1924 in Medicine Hat, AB to Christian Deibert and Bertha Lehr. She was the eldest of 4 children. Alma spent her youth in Taylorville, Alberta, where she met her sweetheart, Morgan Wolsey.

She and her husband spent the first years of their marriage travelling the oil fields in the prairies, moving 56 times in 10 years. In 1957 they bought their first home in Edmonton, Alberta, where they raised their 10 children. They remained there until 1998. Although busy raising her own 10 children, she served in numerous leadership capacities for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
