CAHOON

It is with great sorrow that CAROLINE ANNA CAHOON, daughter of the late Herman & Elsie Aldridge, passed away peacefully at the Cardston Hospital on October 19th, 2019.

A Family Graveside Service will be held starting at Legacy Funeral Home on Friday, October 25th at 10:00 a.m. followed by the interment at the Leavitt Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. In honour of Caroline, there will be a light luncheon and gathering of family and friends at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Leavitt, AB beginning at 12:00 p.m.

Mary Ellen Crabb (1915-2019)

Mary Ellen Crabb passed away peacefully in Lethbridge, Alberta on October 24, 2019 at the age of 104 years. Mary was born in Bow Island on February 26, 1915 to Henry and Ellen Housley as the only daughter with four brothers. She was raised in very small towns in Southern Alberta and learned the value of hard work and family closeness. She married Daniel J Crabb, October 7, 1939, in Lethbridge. Together with their daughter, Linda, they joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 10, 1962. Mary and Dan served an LDS Church mission in Hawaii and later became snowbirds, spending the winters in Arizona. They enjoyed life; loved to dance, play cards, travel and were always together.

Mary will be remembered for her love of her family and her positive attitude. She loved cooking, knitting, crocheting, and quilting for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Even at the age of 90 she was a quick learner, mastering email to keep in touch with her daughter and family. At 104 she loved to play solitaire on her IPad. She enjoyed people, especially her friends at Garden View Lodge, Lethbridge 2005-2016. On Mother’s Day 2016, Mary moved to Good Samaritan Park Meadows in North Lethbridge.

Mary will be dearly missed by her daughter Linda (Richard) Cox of Herriman, Utah; grandchildren Candice Wickliffe of Muncie, Indiana; Clayton (Nancy) Cox of San Antonio, Texas; Ryan (Jessica) Cox of Wasilla, Alaska; and David (Heidi) Cox of Herriman, Utah; and her 14 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Dan of 64 years, her parents Henry and Ellen Housley, and brothers, John, Bill, George and Ernest Housley.

The family express sincere appreciation to Dr. Cal Stewart and Dr. David Stewart as well as the nurses and staff at Garden View Lodge and Good Samaritan Park Meadows.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 10:00 – 10:45 am prior to the service at 11:00 am on Monday October 28, 2019 at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home 703-13 Street North Lethbridge. Interment will follow the service at Archmount Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Good Samaritan Society Canada, Park Meadows Village, Lethbridge.

Vicki Gardner
1959 – 2019
Victoria Elizabeth Gardner (nee Williams), beloved wife of Ray Gardner, passed away in Calgary on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the age of 60 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 – 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, October 28, 2019 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. and at the church prior to the funeral service on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 between 10:00 A.M. and 10:40 A.M.

Besides her beloved husband Ray, Vicki is survived by their children James (Tiana) Gardner of Taber and their children Ben, Asher and Jett; Jessie (Edwyn) Ellingson of Taber and their children Christian, Liam, Bergen and Westin; Braden (Siobhan) Gardner of Taber and their children Zuri, Phoebe and Marley; Jeff (Kelsey) Gardner of Lethbridge and their children Luke, Eden and Jemma. She is also survived by numerous other beloved family members.
She was predeceased by her parents Vernon and Doris Williams.
Vicki was born on March 23, 1959 in Brampton, Ontario. She moved to Lethbridge at the age of sixteen. Vicki met Ray at a church function in the winter of 1978 and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Cardston Alberta Temple on July 13, 1978.
Vicki started working at Saunders Insurance in September of 1989. She met many life long friends there. Some of the things that brought Vicki joy were travelling, musicals, board games, family history and making quilts for loved ones, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

MAZZUCA

MR. GIOVANNI “JOHN” MAZZUCA passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, October 21, 2019 at the age of 86 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Ermelinda “Linda” Mazzuca (Salfi), as well as his two sons, Frank and Domenic (Candice), his daughter, Barbara (Tim) Brown, and his four grandchildren, Caitlyn & Kristen Mazzuca and Robert & Cassandra Brown.

He was predeceased by his parents, Francesco (d. 1981) & Giuseppina (née Lavorata, d. 1984) Mazzuca, his sister, Barbara (d. 1932), and one granddaughter, Spencer Lynn Brown (d. 2002).

John was born in Piane Crati, Cosenza, Italy on March 7, 1933 and moved to Lethbridge in 1953. John married Linda in Italy in 1961 and they raised their family in Lethbridge. He worked as an electrician. He was an active member of the community and president of the Italian Canadian Club for about 30 years.

Christine Lynette Mensch (formerly Harms) of Lethbridge passed away on October 19, 2019, at the age of 72 years, at the Palliative Care Unit at St. Michael’s Health Centre after a valiant battle with cancer (multiple myeloma). Wayne D. Sheppard
February 7, 1958 – October 19, 2019

Wayne D. Sheppard passed away at the St. Michael’s Health Care Centre in Lethbridge.
He moved to Lethbridge in his early 20’s from Burford, Ontario after which he started his trade as an Iron Worker / Welder. He loved camping, fishing and hunting in Alberta’s Great Outdoors!
Wayne is survived by his mother; Evelyn (Dave) Bailey of Kelowna, his father; Roy (Lia) Sheppard of Nanaimo, his brother; Keith, sister-in-law; Karen Sheppard, a niece; Angie (Blake) Taylor, a nephew; Aaron (Callie) Sheppard, along with great nieces, nephews and numerous relatives in Southern Ontario.

TOSHIKO (TOSH) TAKEDA 1923 – 2019

Tosh Takeda (nee Sameshima), beloved wife of the late Muneo (Mun) Takeda, passed away peacefully in Lethbridge on Sunday October 20, 2019 at the age of 96 years. Tosh was born on March 19, 1923 in Kelowna, BC – the eldest of 9 children. Tosh was talented, caring and compassionate. She loved to golf, swim and travel. She found the 13 years as a Girl Guide leader very rewarding but she was proudest of her family. Tosh was a loving mother to her children Hisako (Brian), Richard (Dawn), Donna (John), Jerry -deceased (Laurie), Kenneth (Lila), Jane (Garry), and Susan (Chris) along with 17 adoring grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband along with children, Ronald, Constance and Jerry. Those wishing to pay their respects can meet the family on Friday October 25, 2019 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home – 703 13 St N, Lethbridge. Sheila Urban

1942 – 2019

Sheila Marilyn Urban of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit, on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at the age of 77 years, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

To respect her wishes she will be privately remembered by her family. She will be spending her next journey within Mountain View Cemetery nestled throughout all the beautiful flowers within the scattering gardens, which was one of her passions.
