Barry Warnock

1961 – 2019

Born April 30, 1961 in Lethbridge, passed away at St. Michael’s Health Centre on November 14, 2019 at the age of 58, with his family by his side, after a brave battle with esophageal cancer. Barry was raised on the family farm near Turin. In typical farm fashion, he learned many skills. He could fix just about anything and if he couldn’t he’d beat it with a sledgehammer. Barry grew up riding motorcycles, street bikes and dirt bikes, and could ride circles around just about anyone. His Harley Davidson was his pride and joy. His son Shane shared his passion for motorcycles. In recent years he and Terri rode ATVs. Their daughter Kaylee joined them as well. They spent many days riding in the Crowsnest Pass with Rick and Cathy, and many other friends. Barry enjoyed motorsports in general and had an amazing garage stocked with every tool he ever needed. Barry played hockey with the Picture Butte Oldtimers for several years. He also enjoyed target shooting and was a member of the LFGA. Barry trained as a journeyman mechanic at Gasoline Alley in Lethbridge in the late 80’s. He then worked in the trucking industry for several years until settling at Lethbridge County in 2001, where he remained proudly employed until his illness took over. He was very conscientious and always put 110% into all he did. He wanted others to work to their potential and gladly mentored others. Barry had a great sense of humour and was quick with his wit and sarcasm. This trait was passed on to his children. Barry spoke his mind. He was always quick to lend a hand. He cherished his family and friendships and will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Barry’s family would like to thank all those who helped in so many ways over the past several months. We are forever grateful. Barry leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Terri; son Shane; daughter Kaylee; infant granddaughter Rome; and beloved pitbull Lettie. Barry is also survived by his mother Helen Scott; sister Sharon (Lynn) Silsbe; brother Bryan (Moira) Warnock, and their families. Also survived by Terri’s family: parents Anna and Walter Kortt; brothers Rick (Cathy) Kortt; Dave (Michelle) Kortt; sisters Barb (Shawn) Adams; Marianne (Vic) Friesen and their families. Barry was predeceased by his father Alvon and his infant daughter Caitlyn, both in 1992, and his beloved dog Jack in 2016. A Celebration of Barry’s Life will be held at 11:00am, on Friday, November 22, 2019 at the READYMADE COMMUNITY CENTRE, HIGHWAY 512 AND TOWNSHIP ROAD 90, east of Lethbridge, Alberta. For those who wish, a donation in Barry’s name may be made to Prairie Pitbull Rescue, https://www.prairiepitbullrescue.com/, Lethbridge Humane Society 2920 16 Avenue North, Lethbridge, Alberta T1H 5E9 , or Ronald McDonald House Charities, 111 W Campus Place, Calgary, Alberta, T3B 2R6
