BALDWIN

MARGARET JEAN BALDWIN passed away unexpectedly in Lethbridge on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at the age of 72 years.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Ella Bessie Baldwin of Fort McMurray, AB. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Baldwin, along with her children, Bryce Baldwin and Maureen Roberts.

She was predeceased by her parents, Donald & Bessie (née Nolan) Baldwin, and her siblings, Donald Ramsay Baldwin and Dale Nolan Baldwin, as well as her birth mother, Lillian (née Henriksen) Johnson of Red Deer, AB.

Margaret was born on June 11, 1947 in Red Deer, AB. She was the chosen daughter of Donald & Bessie Baldwin and raised in Coaldale, AB. Margaret was very proud of her daughter, Rebecca, and always happy to share news of her accomplishments.

A Celebration of Margaret’s Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 10:00 A.M.

Daisy Collett
1932 – 2019
Daisy Louise Collett, beloved wife of the late Harold Collett, passed away peacefully in Taber on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at the age of 87 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 – 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, January 2, 2020 between 3:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. This will be the only opportunity to meet the family before the reception since there will not be an opportunity to meet the family at the church prior to the service.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 – 50 Avenue, Taber on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. Daisy is survived by her children Pat (Cliff) Gough of Salt Lake City, Utah, Judy Horrocks of Taber, Dale Collett of Taber, Dwayne (Linda) Collett of Taber, Delbert Collett of Taber and Sherry Collett of Taber; sixteen grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by her brother Verle (Marianne) Shockey and sister Kathy (David) Evans; sisters-in-law Eileen Collett, Sharon Shockey and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Harold Collett; her parents Ed and Ella Shockey; her brothers Roy (Marg) Shockey, Lum (Barb) Shockey and Orval Shockey; sisters Betty Schmidt and Mavis Hole. Daisey was also predeceased by Harold’s parents Morgan and Phoebe Collett and his siblings Archie (Vivian) Rombough and Bob and Barb Collett.
Daisy was born in Delisle, Saskatchewan on February 9, 1932, one of eight children born to Edward and Ella Shockey. She married Harold Collett on December 17, 1949. They raised six children, two grandchildren Devin and Amber and a great grandchild, Zidane.
Daisy was a very strong woman and enjoyed many aspects of life, enjoying the sports of curling and bowling. She was the first secretary for the Chinook Rodeo Association and help the association develop their first “rule book”. Daisy enjoyed watching her children participate in many rodeo events as well as hosting many Taber Roping Club functions in the arena at her home in Purple Springs.
Daisy worked for the Municipal District of Taber as weed inspector for fifteen years. She also work at Rogers Sugar for seventeen years as chief cook and bread maker, alongside her special friend Arlene Rombough. In her later years she enjoyed having coffee with her very special friends Dixie Engelson, Correen Abell; Mary Wenbourne; Toots Engelson and Maureen Paterson.

CONSTANT

DENIS CONSTANT, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Nicole Constant, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Health Centre – Palliative Care Unit on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at the age of 76 years.

Denis is survived by his wife, Nicole, his children, Daniel Constant, Tina Constant, Kim Constant (Brad Sutfin) and Kevin Constant (Jessica McLean), as well as ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Jean-Noel Constant, Gilles (Louiselle) Constant and Chris (Sue) Constant, and multiple nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Fabien & Jeanne Rose Constant.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Albert Sayson celebrating.

DE BOER

DENNIS ANDREW DE BOER, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Linda De Boer, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the age of 75 years.

Besides his loving wife of 54 years, he will be deeply missed by his son, Peter (Cheryl) De Boer, and his daughter, Lisa (Steve) Visser. He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Ren (Kelsey) Visser, Jordan (Brayden) Gunness, Brett Visser, and Taylor De Boer.

Dennis is also survived by his three sisters and their families, Shirley (Bert) Konynenbelt, Lorraine (Marvin) Vandervalk, and Barb (Allen) Nauta; his special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mel and Jean Irwin; as well as many nieces and nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Dorothy De Boer.

Dennis was a general foreman at Canada Packers for 25 years, until the plant closed. He loved hunting and fishing up until his health got poor, but he always had lots of stories to tell about his hunting trips. He had a basement full of trophies and mounts to show his love of the sport. He also enjoyed going for coffee with his ‘coffee buddies.’

Dennis loved taking his grandchildren fishing and camping—making lots of happy memories for them. As a grandpa, he lived for his grandchildren; he was their biggest fan and was immensely proud of all of their accomplishments.

We will all miss Dennis dearly.

JOHNSON

ELMER CARL JOHNSON, passed away peacefully at the St. Michael’s Health Centre in Lethbridge on Thursday, December 26th, 2019, at the age of 88 years.

Besides his wife Helen Margaret, he was predeceased by his son Ron, brother Ray, and sister Doris.

He is survived by three sons, Lyle (Bev), Ralph (Maya) and Murray (Joanne) and daughter, Lana (George), and daughter-in-law Maureen, one sister, Eleanor Mac Nevin, grandchildren, Natasha, Nevin, Joelle, Taylor, Jara and Sarah, as well as many special nieces and nephews. Elmer also leaves his special friend, Cecil Reisner.

Elmer was born January 23rd, 1931 in Limerick, Saskatchewan. He grew up on the family farm, after graduation he farmed with his father and brother. Elmer and Helen were married in October 24, 1953 and raised 5 children. Elmer and Helen semi-retired to Lethbridge in 1979, and he continued to farm until 1992. Elmer farmed for 45 years.

After retiring Elmer was active in McKillop United Church and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed bowling, gardening and was a sport enthusiast.

The family will be holding a private service, and Elmer will be laid to rest with Helen at Mountain View Cemetery.

Harvey Martin
1939 – 2019
Harvey Martin, beloved husband of Annie Martin, passed away in Taber on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the age of 80 years.

Besides his loving wife Annie, Harvey is survived by their son Brett (Holly) Martin of Taber; grandchildren Steffanie Rombough, Branden Martin, Corey (Shelby) Anderson, Brent Anderson and Cassidy Martin; great grandchildren Jayce Ellis, Damien Ellis, Mercedes Payne, Aurora Peters, Colsen Ellis and Brantley Peters. He is also survived by his brother Charles (Dora) Martin and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Barry Martin; his parents Edward and Annie Martin; his brothers John Martin and Bob Martin; his sisters Betty Lou Page, Joyce Martin, Gertrude Martin and Eleanor Ellison.
Harvey was born in Innisfail on March 31, 1939. He had a very unique life. He enjoyed working on cars, going to auctions and taking care of his farm animals. In our hearts he will always be loved and remembered every day. Harvey’s devotion to his children never wavered, he didn’t know the word ‘no’. His family knew him as a kind and mild mannered man. Harvey was a very sports oriented man and loved to ride his bike. His love of family was always first and foremost. One will never find a finer man.

Patricia Powell
1947 – 2019
Patricia Ann Powell, passed away in Taber on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at the age of 71 years, two days short of her 72nd birthday.

Patricia is survived by her two children, Andrew Badura of Taber and Michele (Steve) Straga of Taber and their children Tiana Straga (Greg Schneider) and Taylor Straga; her mother Jeanette Lois Powell; siblings Judy (Jerry) Cadman and David (Shurron) Powell as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father Mike Powell.
Patricia was born in Taber on December 31, 1947 to Michael and Jeanette Powell and was the middle child in her family. She grew up helping her dad with farming and her mom with household chores. Patricia participated in the 4-H Sugar Beet Club and worked at the Tower Theatre. She mostly loved being her dad’s sidekick and she was known to him as his “peanut”.
Patricia was married on July 1, 1967 and had two children. She raised her family on the farm and had a strong love for all the animals but especially her dogs and cats. She loved to sew and do various crafts such as cross stitch and crocheting.
Later in life, she spent a lot of time with her mom taking her shopping and to the coffee shop. She loved to garden and made delicious tomato sauces and salsa that she shared with her family. In recent years, she has been spending her time exploring the outdoors with Andrew camping and seeing a butterfly house on one occasion last summer. Patricia even tried white water rafting a few years ago that was completely out of her comfort zone. She will be dearly missed.

FRANK “FRANKIE” SCHAEFFER, of Coaldale, beloved husband of the late Elaine Schaeffer, passed away peacefully at the St. Michael’s Health Centre – Palliative Care Unit with close friends at his side on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at the age of 81 years.

Ainsley Rae SMITH

Nov 5 – Dec 27, 2019

Just 52 days after coming into the world, Ainsley Rae Smith passed away peacefully in her parents’ arms at the Foothills Medical Centre NICU in Calgary. During her short life, she touched many hearts and was loved by all.

Ainsley is the daughter of Mark & Laura Smith of Lethbridge and the granddaughter of Leanne Sanderson and Raymond & Rhonda Smith. She is the answer to their prayers, and they waited for her birth with joyful expectation. Born 13 weeks early and weighing only 1 lb 5 oz, Ainsley was known to be feisty, strong, and alert. Her favourite things were cuddles with dad and holding hands with mom. She was gone too soon and will be dearly missed.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday January 4, 2020 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – North Stake Centre, 560 Highlands Blvd W Lethbridge.
