Bernard “Byrnie” Bodnaruk

1946 – 2020

Mr. Bernard “Byrnie” Bodnaruk of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Angela Bodnaruk, passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at the age of 73 years.

BOURNE

DARRIN ROBERT BURKE BOURNE, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully in the St. Michael’s Health Centre Palliative Care Unit after a courageous battle with brain cancer, on Friday, June 5, 2020 at the age of 45 years.

Darrin will be lovingly remembered by his parents Arlene and Wade Bourne, sister Renee (Geoff) Oster, nieces and nephews Michael, Victoria, Jessica and Joshua, grandmother Jennie West and his son Hunter as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Donna and Bob Bourne and Frank West, uncle Sam West, aunts Kristine Derksen and Deanna Tilari and cousins Chelsey West and Kyle Yazlovasky.

Darrin was born on June 21, 1974 in Calgary, Alberta and lived in Spruce Grove until he was 6, when he then moved to Lethbridge and lived his life to the fullest and resided until his passing. Darrin was an avid soccer player for most of his youth and spent many years throughout his early adulthood boxing. Darrin was a very committed football fan who never missed an Edmonton Eskimos or Green Bay Packers game.

Darrin was very passionate about his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. This included family dinners, attending hockey and baseball games, and watching movies on the big screen. Darrin was the storyteller and comedian of the family and was always telling jokes and making everyone laugh right up to the end.

He will always be remembered through his humour and the many stories there are to reminisce about. Darrin will forever be loved and remembered.

A Funeral Service for Darrin will be held on Thursday June 11, 2020. Due to capacity restrictions, attendance is by invitation only.

Auguste “Dusty” Elman

1948 – 2020

Mrs. Auguste “Dusty” Elman of Lethbridge, formerly of Milk River, beloved wife of Mr. Dennis Elman passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, June 8, 2020 at the age of 72 years.

Dusty was born on May 27, 1948 to Gus and Anna Kron. Dusty was raised in Warner, Alberta and spent her adult years working in the Milk River Hospital.

Besides her loving husband Dennis, Dusty is survived by her daughter Tammy (Shawn Greeley) Elman; grandson Spencer Amon; sister-in-laws Sonja Heinemann, Shirley Wisdahl, Norma King and Esther Elman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She will be lovingly remembered by her many friends as well.

A Celebration of Dusty’s Life will be held at a later date.

It is with great sadness that the family of Denis Gerard Fournier announce his passing after a brief battle with cancer, on Monday June 1, 2020, at the age of 75.

Denis will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years, Irene and his children, Angela, Pierrette, Lynn, Matthew and Jared.

KATHARINA KETLER, of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Frank Ketler, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, June 8, 2020 at the age of 75 years.

A Visitation will be held at the REINLAND MENNONITE CHURCH – 4809 64 Avenue, Taber, AB. on Thursday, June 11, 2020 from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.

A Funeral Service will be held at the REINLAND MENNONITE CHURCH – 4809 64 Avenue Taber, AB. on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor John Hiebert officiating.

Katharina will be laid to rest at the Vauxhall Mennonite Cemetery.

Michael Alexander Slovak

Born September 27, 1921 in went to the Lord on June 2, 2020 in Claresholm Alberta.

Mike was born on September 27, 1921 to his parents George and Agnes Slovak in Csanadapaca, BekesMegyae, Hungary. In 1929 Michael traveled to Canada with his parents and sister arriving in Lethbridge Alberta. He lived in the Picture Butte area and worked in the beet fields. Mike attended Hemp Hill Diesel school in Vancouver after he finished eighth grade in Picture Butte at the age of 17. Here he learned many things about diesel mechanics and engines. In 1948 he purchased the farm in Wrentham. He married the love of his life Bette on September 18, 1954 in Lethbridge at St. Andrews Church. They farmed there until 1965 when they moved to the farm in Claresholm. Together they raised three beautiful children Lorna, Ken, and Tom. Mike was active in both the Claresholm and Wrentham communities where he helped in the United Church, Scouts, and Brownies, and School Board and helped build the community church in Wrentham.

One of Mike’s crowning achievements was building the house on the farm in Claresholm. Together he and Bette hosted many family gatherings that were enjoyed by all. Mike enjoyed life on the farm, swathing and seeding were his favorite seasons. He could be found out on the tractor well into his old age happily working away.

Mike also enjoyed his grandchildren, from delivering lambs to Gord and Bev in the trunk of his car to playing Lego and Lincoln logs with Michael and Brady. To carefully holding each of the great grandchildren as they arrived and singing and playing with them.

Mike loved to dance.

Waiting in Heaven for Mike are his parents and sister Kathleen, and granddaughter Sarah.

Mike is survived by his wife Bette Slovak, daughter Lorna (Dennis) Guitton, Ken (Denise) Slovak, Tom (Darla) Slovak. Grandchildren Gord (Julaine) Guitton, Beverly (Kevin) Allain, Michael and Brady Slovak Amber Oneil and Samantha Chretien. Great Grandchildren Rylen, Jase Guitton, Andrew and Aaron Allain, and Rider . His brother Joe Slovak and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as sister and brother in laws.

The family respectfully asks that donations be made to the Alzheimers Society – 7015 Macleod Trail SW #800, Calgary, AB T2H 2K6 or the Claresholm Health Foundation – Box 2638, Claresholm, Alberta, T0L 0T0 in lieu of flowers.

Mona Templeton

July 22, 1930 – June 6, 2020

Mona Grace Templeton (nee McKee) passed away peacefully June 6, 2020 in Vermilion, Alberta.

She is lovingly remembered by her children John (Denise) Templeton of Calgary, Scott (Judy) Templeton of Vernon, and Margaret Templeton (Terry Welker) of Vermilion; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.

Mona was predeceased by her first husband William Templeton; second husband Gordon Young; grandson Brett Welker; great-grandson Marvin Templeton; and sister Roberta Cole.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
