Maureen Bailey

1943 – 2020

Mrs. Maureen Bailey of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Mr. Bruce Bailey passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at the age of 77 years. Maureen Bailey was born on May 20, 1943 in Dagenham, Essex, England to George and Violet Rowden and was the youngest of 4 girls. She immigrated to Calgary, Alberta when she was 14 years old. Maureen married Bruce Bailey of Delacour, Alberta on June 16, 1962 and together they raised their 3 children: Deb, Diane and Ian. She was also a loving grandma to Everett, Kaidi, Austin and Tanner Phypers, and Hayden Wenaas, as well as a proud GG to Taaniel Phypers. Maureen was a fierce duplicate bridge player, attaining her Ruby Life Masters. She was a wonderful director, partner and club owner. She was also an avid reader, traveler and shopper who loved a good bargain. Maureen loved spending time with her family and close friends, making memories and sharing laughter. Besides her loving husband Bruce Bailey, Maureen is survived by her 2 daughters, Debra Wenaas (Daryn), and Diane Phypers (Stephen); 1 son, Ian Bailey; grandchildren, Everett Phypers (Kaidi Aasumets), Austin Phypers, Tanner Phypers and Hayden Wenaas, and one great grandchild, Taaniel Phypers. Maureen was predeceased by her parents, George and Violet Rowden; sisters, Joyce Wall (Peter), Lillian Robson and Jean Lilley. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Friday, August 7, 2020 at PARK MEADOWS BAPTIST CHURCH, 2011 15 Ave N, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Steve Phypers, officiating. Due to the restrictions in place from the Chief Medical Officer of Health – Funeral Services are now limited to 100 attendees. Including family and Funeral Home Staff. Those who wish to attend, please call Park Meadows Baptist Church, (403) 327-4422. The service will also be available on a livestream by visiting YouTube.ca and searching Park Meadows Baptist Church. A Memorial Service will be held in Calgary at a later date for Calgary family and friends. BERRIAULT

RENE JOSEPH BERRIAULT passed away suddenly on July 25, 2020.

He was born October 10 1938 in Saint Boniface, Manitoba. Rene lived in Nobleford in the company of his favorite canine companions, where they travelled together, went to the lake, went to the Tailor Shop, and went sightseeing across Southern Alberta.

Rene was the proud owner of The Tailor Shop- a job from which he retired from over 10 years ago. Having learned and perfected his trade throughout his youth in Montreal, Rene sought to offer each of his client’s the perfect suit, proudly stating the slogan “You don’t wear it unless it fits!” The combination of his joyful disposition and his dedication to making a quality product left many customers happy. He loved his occupation.

He leaves behind his much-loved daughter Tobey, who works overseas in the field of international peace and security. He also leaves behind Mary-Ann, his business partner. Rene will be sadly missed by Tobey and Mary-Ann.

Agnes Brooks

1933 – 2020

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Agnes Lillian Brooks, nee Ernest. Beloved wife of the late Mr. Dennis A. Brooks, on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at the age of 87 years. Agnes was born on November 27, 1933 to Fred and Catherine Ernest in Humbolt, Saskatchewan. Agnes attended school in Humbolt until the age of 16 where she went to work in the local café. She then moved to Edmonton, where she met the love of her life, Dennis at a dance. They were married on April 22, 1957 and proceeded to move to various air bases, as Dennis was in the Royal Canadian Air Force. They spent the majority of their time on Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, where Agnes managed the Snack Bar and the Hanger 5 Snack Bar. Agnes, Dennis and family retired from air force life after 25 years and moved to Lethbridge, Alberta where Agnes did various jobs such as housekeeping, working at Dandees Grocery Store and housekeeping at the Lethbridge Hospital. Agnes faith was very important to her, she was an active member of the CWL in Portage La Prairie and attended church faithfully. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, shopping, watching CFL football with the family and loved visiting the family farm in Humbolt. Her greatest joy was her children, especially her 4 grandsons, who were and still are, the light of her life. You never left mom’s house hungry or empty handed. Agnes is survived by her son Henry (Brenda) Aric and Nolan Brooks; daughter Sharon (Art) Justin (Dani) and Matthew Malec; sister Isabel Lenny from Edmonton; brother Roman Ernest from Humbolt; sister Darlene Hunter from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Besides her loving husband, Dennis, Agnes was predeceased by her parents Fred and Catherine Ernest; sisters Mary, Eleanaor, Phyllis, and Eva; brothers Fred, John and Elmer. We will miss you mom, say hi to everyone, especially DAD! A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, on Friday, August 7, 2020, at ST. BASIL’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604-13 Street North, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Father Kevin Tumback officiating. Interment to follow in Royal View Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. CHIEF MOON

THOMAS CHIEF MOON, passed away in Calgary, AB on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at the age of 58 years.

A Wake Service will be held at Myrna Chief Moon’s residence, Blood Band Reserve, AB on Sunday, August 9 starting at 7:00 pm. A Viewing will be held also at the Chief Moon Residence on Monday, August 10 from 9:30 – 11:00 with a Family Service to follow at 11:00 am.

SANDERSON

DOUGLAS DELBRIDGE SANDERSON, the beloved husband of the late Marion Sanderson, passed away at his home on Friday, July 31st, 2020, at the age of 99 years.

He is survived by his sons, Ron (Linda) of Lee Creek, B.C., Ken (Cheryl) of Lethbridge, daughter, Ruth (John) Roders of Terrace, B.C., as well as grandchildren and other family members.

We, the family of Doug, send a huge, compassionate thank you to the staff of the Good Samaritan West Highland Centre for their help, caring and compassion shown to our dad and us.
