KATHLEEN ANN BETTS

Born February 15, 1933

– Lethbridge, AB.

Died March 28, 2020

– Vernon, B.C.

Trained as a nurse at Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary, worked in Taber. Moved to Ventura, California with Marian Jorgenson of Turin and Coleen Murray of Warner. Moved to Italy as a school nurse, came home and worked at Milk River until her accident. Went to BC University and trained as a Social Worker in Vernon.

Survived by brothers Jim (Helen), Ed (Gloria), sister Margaret. Deceased by her parents Katie and Clarence Betts, brother in law Vince and sister Mary.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 1:00 PM, at the Coutts Cemetery with Father Salvador Ahumada. COVID-19 restrictions in place. PLEASE NOTE FUNERAL SERVICE HAS BEEN CANCELLED

DOROTHY MAE DAY RIDER “Pooka’koyinimaahkii” (Little Pipe Woman), beloved wife of Leonard Day Rider, passed away suddenly on her birthday at the Cardston Health Centre, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the age of 66 years.

A Wake will be held in FARM 4 at Leonard Day Rider’s Residence, Blood Reserve, AB, on Thursday, September 24, 2020 from 5:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M.

A Funeral Service will be held in FARM 4 at Leonard Day Rider’s Residence on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 12:00 Noon with Maurice Little Wolf officiating.

Following the Service, Dorothy will be laid to rest in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.

DICK de KREEK, beloved husband of Yolanda de Kreek, passed away suddenly at home, on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the age of 63 years.

Besides his loving wife, Dick is survived by his sons, Kevin (Lindsey) de Kreek of Coalhurst and David (Chrissy) de Kreek of Lethbridge and three grandchildren, Summer, Aislynn and Tyson. He is also survived by his mother Jean, three sisters, Mary (Bryon) Harbers, Terry (Merv) Cradduck and Sharon (Dwayne) Beaton, mother-in-law Truus de Goede, sister-in-law Irene (Lorne) Edwards and brother-in-law Ray (Anita) de Goede as well as several nieces and nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dick was born September 27, 1956 in Lethbridge, and was raised and educated in Coalhurst and Nobleford. He met Yolanda and they were married in 1978. Dick began his employment as a drywaller, but his true passion was farming with his father and then his sons.

He had a close bond with his sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren. Dick cherished the many adventures he had with his family and he will be sadly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

A Funeral Service will be held at NOBLEFORD CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 522 Highway Avenue, Nobleford, AB, on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Frank Lanting officiating. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed by Live-stream and accessed through the Church’s website or Facebook page.

A Private Family Graveside will precede the Funeral at the Nobleford Cemetery.

SHARON FATH: daughter, sister, wife, mother. Born in California to Helen & Max Billeck, she moved to Canada in the 70s where she met her husband, Wayne. Sharon lived in various locations across western Canada and made friendships that have endured to this day. They went on to have two kids: Matthew and Andrew. She passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020. She was a truly angelic spirit that sadly was set free.

A Celebration of Sharon’s Life will be held at MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY, 1210 Scenic Dr. S, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 11:00 AM.

GRAINGER

MONICA ANNE GRAINGER, beloved wife of the late Alfred Grainger, passed away peacefully at the Cedar Creek Adaptacare with family at her side on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the age of 85 years.

Monica will be lovingly remembered by Louise (Larry) McMahon of Taber, AB, Margot (Craig) Chantler of Kimberley, BC, Susan (Vern) Boldick of Wetaskiwin, AB, John (Sherry) Grainger of Saskatoon, SK, and Jane (Paul) Crawford of Calgary, AB. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her brother Richard and sister Julie.

Monica was born March 29th 1935 at Blairmore AB. At 17 she attended University of Western Ontario. In 1953 Monica and Al married in Calgary. She then completed her ARCT in piano pedagogy. While raising her family she returned to the University of Calgary and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in 1977. Monica was a well-respected piano and advanced music theory teacher. She was an associate branch teacher with the Mount Royal College conservatory of music. Monica was an organist and choir director at various churches in Calgary.

Monica filled her days enjoying hiking, golfing, cross-country skiing. She also was an active volunteer with many local charities. Upon retirement Monica and Al wintered in Arizona and spent summers at their cottage at Hidden Valley Golf Resort. Grandchildren spent summers with Nana at the cottage creating a lifetime of memories and life lessons.

Monica and Al moved to Lethbridge in 2007. Monica was a devout Catholic throughout her life.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cedar Creek Adaptacare for their compassionate care.

A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. with Deacon Cliff Bogdan officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Kevin Tumback celebrating.

Following the Mass, Monica will be laid to rest in Mountain View Cemetery.

PETER COLIN HESELTINE

Peter Heseltine passed away at St. Michael’s Care Centre in Lethbridge AB on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the age of 68 years. Peter grew up in High River, and has resided in Lethbridge since 1984.

Peter will be remembered by his wife Judy Heseltine; children Sharleen Rogers (Chris), Gregory Heseltine and Ryan Heseltine (Janet) all of Lethbridge, AB. He will be greatly missed by his 4 grandchildren Riley, Andrew, Ethan and Kira. Peter was predeceased by his father Colin Heseltine in 1983, his mother Ruby (Kitt) Heseltine in 1994, brother Kim in 2017 and his special friend and mother-in-law, Muriel Reynolds in 1998.

GEORGE ARTHUR

Born July 13, 1936 passed away in Calgary, Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020 following a stroke. He is survived by his daughter Cathy (David Evans) Calgary, son Douglas (Rumi) and 2 grand daughters in Hong Kong, brother Frank of Lethbridge.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Shiela (Kirkham) in 1999 and eldest daughter Cheryl in 2001.

Born, raised, educated in Lethbridge, he moved to Calgary getting into real estate and completed his working years with the Calgary Real Estate Board.

In retire,ent he made several trips to Hong Kong to visit family and enjoyed golf from Okotoks to Bangkok.

George was a dedicated father, grandfather and brother.
