BOULTON

DORINE MAY BOULTON passed away at Cedar Creek Adaptacare on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at the age of 93 years.

CROW CHIEF

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Kirby Crow Chief on Friday, September 18, 2020, at the age of 37 years.

He leaves to mourn his beautiful daughter Alijah Crow Chief, his mother Corina Crow Chief, his siblings Gaylene (Troy), Douglas (Ashley), Shawn (Samantha), Chalsea and Matthew.

A wake service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 4-7 pm then continuing at the residence of Corina Crow Chief till 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, on Tuesday, September 29 at 11:00 am. Interment in the St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Blood Reserve, Alberta. (Due to Covid 19 social distancing and masks will be expected)

GRAINGER

MONICA ANNE GRAINGER, beloved wife of the late Alfred Grainger, passed away peacefully at the Cedar Creek Adaptacare with family at her side on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the age of 85 years.

Monica will be lovingly remembered by Louise (Larry) McMahon of Taber, AB, Margot (Craig) Chantler of Kimberley, BC, Susan (Vern) Boldick of Wetaskiwin, AB, John (Sherry) Grainger of Saskatoon, SK, and Jane (Paul) Crawford of Calgary, AB. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her brother Richard and sister Julie.

Monica was born March 29th 1935 at Blairmore AB. At 17 she attended University of Western Ontario. In 1953 Monica and Al married in Calgary. She then completed her ARCT in piano pedagogy. While raising her family she returned to the University of Calgary and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in 1977. Monica was a well-respected piano and advanced music theory teacher. She was an associate branch teacher with the Mount Royal College conservatory of music. Monica was an organist and choir director at various churches in Calgary.

Monica filled her days enjoying hiking, golfing, cross-country skiing. She also was an active volunteer with many local charities. Upon retirement Monica and Al wintered in Arizona and spent summers at their cottage at Hidden Valley Golf Resort. Grandchildren spent summers with Nana at the cottage creating a lifetime of memories and life lessons.

Monica and Al moved to Lethbridge in 2007. Monica was a devout Catholic throughout her life.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cedar Creek Adaptacare for their compassionate care.

A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. with Deacon Cliff Bogdan officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Kevin Tumback celebrating.

Following the Mass, Monica will be laid to rest in Mountain View Cemetery.

1938 – Charles Herbst – 2020

Charles Patrick Herbst passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2020, with his wife Lyla by his side. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Lyla; a daughter, Patricia Haraga (Ken); and a son, Tim Herbst (Vicki). Charles was blessed with five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Herbst (Charlotte) and sisters-in-law, Janet Herbst and Melody Herbst. A Celebration of Charles’s life will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Rd SE, Medicine Hat on Saturday, September 26th, 2020 at 11:00 am. HILL

EDGAR (TED) LAWRENCE HILL passed away peacefully on September 20, 2020 at the Alberta Rose Lodge in Lethbridge. He is predeceased by his father, Edgar (Larry) Lawrence Hill and mother Deloise (Bennion) Hill, his two sisters, Colleen (Robert) Fink, and Joan Berkley Olsen and brother Robert (Bob) Bennion.

Ted was born on February 13, 1935 in Lethbridge, Alberta. His family spent most of their summers in Waterton with family and friends. The Vimy Vue was the family cabin and he was the 3rd generation to enjoy its views and charm.

He is survived by his 3 children: Fred (Yvonne) Hill, Dee Dee (Walter) Michel and Becky Hill, 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He owned and operated Hill’s Pantry in Lethbridge for over 30 years, was an active supporter/member of the former Progressive Conservative Party of Alberta and coached minor league baseball in Lethbridge.

A private celebration of life will be held in Waterton Park at a later date.

Eda Scroggie

1931 – 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Eda Scroggie has peacefully passed away at the age of 88 on the evening of September 19, 2020, at the Chinook Regional Hospital with family at her side, two days short of her 89th birthday.

She is survived by her five children Gayle (Alvin) Kolibar, Doug (Laurel) Scroggie, Laura Duder, Joyce (Tony) Farough, and Lisa Scroggie; grandchildren Melissa (Rorik), Stephanie (Jesse), Daniel (Kristan), Tamara, Alexander, Katharine, David, and Kyle as well as her numerous great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn her passing are Eda’s younger siblings Ezio (Sophie) Gardin, and Maxine Richards, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Eda was predeceased by her parents Gemma and Silvio Gardin; brother-in-law Owen Richards and sisters-in-law Marjorie Pontarolo, and Jolayne Van Der Hulst.

A Private Memorial Service will be held at 3:30pm on Friday, September 25, 2020.

The family would like to give special thanks to the dedicated staff at Garden View Lodge, as well as the palliative care team at CRH for their kindness and compassion whilst caring for Eda. For that we are truly grateful.

SLAVICH

BILLIE ANNE SLAVICH was born in Skiff, Alberta January 6, 1923. She spent summers working in the restaurant at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton. She married Sonny in 1947. She worked for Sven Ericksens at the Marquis Hotel and the El Rancho and then finally for Sven Ericksens until she retired.

Billie will be missed by her daughter Karlyn (Jerry) Kanewischer, son Jim (Kelly) Slavich and her granddaughter Kim Magill, grandson Shelby Slavich as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, George and Lucy Perverziff, her husband Sonny, her daughter Sandra Bechtel, her brothers George, Peter, John and her sisters Helen and Marie.

THOMPSON

DONNA THOMPSON, beloved wife of the late William “Bill” Thompson, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Monday, September 21, 2020 at the age of 85 years.

Donna is survived by her loving children, Shannon (Randy) Miller of Taber, Joanne (Rod) Bakker of Fort McMurray, Karen Thompson of Lethbridge, Andrea Thompson of Lethbridge, and Will (Carrie) Thompson of Lethbridge, as well as 12 grandchildren, Scott (Michelle) Miller, Blair Miller (Serena Pateliotes), Shane Miller, Ashley Miller, Cory Sivell (Alexa Bustamante), Riley Green, Taylor Thompson, Jeremy Thompson (Jen Shirley), Devon Thompson (Yvonne Leineke), and Breeanna Thompson, Madison Thompson and Owen Thompson, and 13 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by one brother, Nelson (Pauline) Leclair; four sisters, Gladys (Leon) Levesque, Shirley Fournier, Muriel (Felix) Reboly, and Betty Leclair Monette; special cousin, Nola Adams, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bill, her parents, Alex & Rosie, and 15 brothers and sisters.

Donna was a loving mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed. She will be remembered for her soft spoken and elegant demeanor. Her excellent cooking, baking, and love of music and dancing, created many memories for her family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a Visitation at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 St. S, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, September 25, 2020 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Anthony “Tony” Wojtowicz

1928 – 2020

Tony Wojtowicz of Lethbridge, passed away at Legacy Lodge on Monday, September 21, 2020 at the age of 92.

Tony was born on May 31, 1928 to Maria & Walter Wojtowicz at their family Homestead in Manitoba. He was one of 9 boys and 1 sister. The family moved to Diamond City, Alberta and then eventually to Lethbridge. Tony & Tina were married in Lethbridge on November 30, 1950. They had a family of 2 sons and 2 daughters. They moved to Calgary and then to High River where he worked for 32 years at the High River Hospital as a Maintenance Supervisor. During this time he was trained as an EMT and served as Head of Ambulance services for the town of High River and District for a number of years. When Tina’s health was failing they made the move back to Lethbridge to be closer to family. Tony loved to learn new things and had a vast knowledge of numerous topics. He appreciated listening to good music and played many many instruments. He liked to tinker and fix things and was a master in his garden. He loved to tell family history stories to anyone that was interested, especially the grandchildren, they will miss this the most grampa!

Tony is survived by sons Gary (Judy), and Dale (Carol) and daughters Rita (Vern) Pugh and Sande Wojtowicz-Falk; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He is also survived by one sister Helen (George) Dolbak; one brother John (Charlotte) and one sister-in-law Martha Wojtowicz.

Besides his loving wife Tina, he was predeceased by his parents Walter & Maria Wojtowicz and 7 brothers Joe (Evelyn), Stanley (Dorthy), Gene (Connie), Adam, Edward, Frank and Carl (Colleen).

A Private Family Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Saturday, September 26, 2020. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the family invites to you watch the service via livestream at the Martin Brothers Website.

Interment will follow in Mountain View cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
